    Hi all,

I’m trying to get Alien: Isolation to work; FOV seems ok however when I turn my head right, the camera goes left, up it goes down. Has anyone else encountered this one before and if so, how do you fix it? I’m super keen to give this game a go.

Running an Oculus CV1 and Xbox 360 controller for windows.

I’ve configured the profile to use Z-adaptive, override xbox controller with partial and have both analog sticks set to ON, buttons are OFF. (It’s worth noting that i’ve also tried full override with no success)

I had it configured earlier today & once i did the xbox controller override, head tracking worked great! I go to start the game later that day and it no longer works. Worst part is i’ve reset the profile and reconfigured it exactly how i mentioned above. I’ve uninstalled vorpx, reinstalled, reconfigured, still no head tracking.

    Help!! :D

    1) Set field of view to 100. Do this by editing ENGINE_SETTINGS.XML file in notepad.
You will probably find the file in this directory.
    D:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Alien Isolation\DATA
But you may have installed it to a different drive.

Then add in this line to the file.
    <Quality name=”100″ precedence=”8″ float=”100.0″/>

You should place the line, under this heading, which you will find in the file.
    -<Setting name=”Field Of View”>

    Save the file!

    2) Run VorpX
    3) Run Alien Isolation
    4) Go to options > Video and set resolution to 1280×1024, and set field of view to the new 100 option.
    5) Press “del” and in the VorpX settings set the 3d mode to Z-adaptive. This is because Geometry 3d has (for me at least) different shadows and lighting in each eye – which look terrible!
    6) Play the game! (and hope it doesn’t crash!)

That’s as far as I’ve got!

Hey guys Ive tried playing AI with my vive and it runs smooth but the image is zoomed in quite a bit and quality is a little lacking.

Can you guys post up here your settings ingame as well as VORPX settings that you have found to be the best quality/experience.

    Thanks!

    Hi All

    Vive
    Windows 10
    GeForce 970
    Drivers up to date

Recently purchased VorpX. I have tried using all the advice I’ve seen on the forums. Including disabling applications, services that may conflict with VorpX. I’ve changed my setup back down to one monitor. I’ve tried several different combinations of starting SteamVR or not and then running VorpX. Using the Shortcut option and not running many different games that VorpX has profiles for including Alien:Isolation, ETS2, TLD. All I ever see is the Vive planet/moon screen or nothing.
Does anyone have a list of apps/processes/services that they stopped and then VorpX started to work? Is there something that I may have missed? How about an order of operations from after logon to playing the game?

I can get the desktop viewer going, but when I set Alien Isolation as the profile (apply and close) and then run the game, I lose head tracking as soon as I move using the xbox controller. The only way I can get it back again is by going back to virtual cinema mode -> On and then -> Off. But again I lose head tracking once I touch the controller.

Any assistance would be appreciated. I really want to scare the pants off myself. Xbox One controller and CV1

I have the FOV set at 120 and the 1st person FOV set at 140. I’m using the enhanced camera mod as well. It looks better as you said but not quite right yet..Can you suggest a specific mod or mods that will fix the giant arms issue? I am so close to Skyrim VR! Bioshock Infinite, Alien Isolation, and Dishonored have been a blast. I can’t wait to get started with Skyrim. I see so many other mods I want to install I just need to fix these big arms!! Thanks in advance.

    Hello Folks,

I’m simply looking for instructions on how to make Alien Isolation work with the CV1. Everything I’ve found on the web appears from a year plus ago, and refers to the Oculus being in extended mode.

Can someone please provide simple instructions to get me started?

    Thanks!

    Hello,
i’am new to VorpX. I tried Alien Isolation, Battlefield Hardline and Fallout 4.
In every Game the 3D Reconstruction Mode is set to off, and i can’t switch it to on, the Cinema Mode is off. So why is there no option for 3D Modes like z-Puffer Mode or Geometry 3D?

Using the latest 1.4 Oculus App ( Update comes today )

    Any help is welcome.

    Greeting Tomcat.

    So….as the title says.
I managed to get it working for Alien: Isolation (Steam).
Arma 3 (Steam) does not even start, and when i try it with Flight Simulator X (non-Steam), i only have a black screen on my Vive and the Monitor, but the game is running (i can hear the sound).

I’m kinda pissed off. On the store page it sounded like it just plugs itself to all of those supported games, now it turns out that it works rather bad than good, at least for Vive owners from what i read here in this forum.

So, does anyone have an idea about Arma 3 and FSX?
I already disabled all possibly interfering hardware, HMD is in direct mode, and Steam VR and VorpX are running.

Has anyone come up with a good solution for being able to see the hud? the info in the bottom left and top right corners are too hard to see without zooming out in a letterbox to the point that i might as well play on a monitor. Any suggestions would be helpfull. Currently im playing with letterbox 2, fov100 tweaked in the engine settings, zadaptive.

I have Override Xbox controller set to “FULL”. I then map each button on my 360 controller to a corresponding key on the keyboard using the Vorpx in game menu (DEL key). Use the key bindings menu in the Alien isolation options for reference. Map EdgePeek to whatever button you want on the controller so you dont have to fumble around for your mouse with the Rift on. I click my left thumbstick to pull back into Edgepeek when needed and after a little bit of playing it really becomes a smooth experience. I use the d-pad to open the map. Just map the buttons to your liking and go. I have full head tracking and I can use the sticks to move as well. With the FOV set to 110-120 this game looks great even at the lower res. It really is very immersive. I jumped in my seat multiple times.

After some initial frustration, I was able to get the best VR experience I’ve had so far out of Alien Isolation. I was only able to use Z3D (due to a lighting issue in G3D mode) and it was still just as good or even better than me some of the stuff available on the Oculus Store so far. I love The Climb, EVE is fun, and Elite Dangerous is great, but AI and Bioshock Infinite have great narratives and a lot more content. If you don’t mind tweaking some settings and following some tutorials, Vorpx is worth the money. If the lighting issue in Alien Isolation gets fixed in the future, I’ll play through the whole game again. Worth every penny. CV1
