    vorpX 19.3.1.3 has been released.

This is another hotfix with a better solution for the Windows Defender/Steam ‘Application load error 3:0000065464’ issue after a recent Defender update. Instead of switching to the less reliable alternative hooking per default the original hooking method has been modified to work again without this issue.

Ironically disabling a fix for a rather similar Defender/Steam issue from about two years ago made it work again in the end. Big thanks to the certified genius(es) at Microsoft who ruined my entire weekend.

    vorpX 19.3.1.2 has been released.

This is a hotfix that addresses an issue with some Steam games frequently failing to start with vorpX after a recent Windows Defender update.

No other changes. In case you wonder: the next regular update will be released before Christmas.

The hotfix makes vorpX’s prior alternative hooking method the new default, which is more compliant with what Microsoft considers the ‘official’ way to hook into programs. If vorpX now fails to hook into a game that worked fine for you before this hotfix, try the ‘Use legacy hooking method’ checkbox in the config app to revert to the original method.

    vorpX 19.3.1.1 has been released.

Just a hotfix that fixes an issue with hooking into unknown games. No other changes.

    vorpX 19.3.1 has been released.

Another day, another update. This one became necessary to work around a potential bug in the most recent SteamVR release. If you need to blame someone for yet another annoying update, please don’t blame vorpX this time. 😉

    Changes since 19.3.0:

    • Workaround for a potential SteamVR issue that frequently prevented games to show in WMR headsets.
    • Games failed to launch with vorpX on Windows 7.
    • The vorpX desktop viewer did not work anymore.
    • Shadows were broken in Farming Simulator 2017.

    Original 19.3.0 post:

This is a feature update that mainly adds beta support for Direct3D 12, currently limited to Z3D. Also the trimmed down Windows 7 D3D12 is not supported yet. As a first D3D12 test case a profile for Red Dead Redemption II has been added.

For anyone who might wonder: the shader authoring improvements originally intended for 19.3.0 will come later. D3D12 support became more urgent after Red Dead Redemption II was announced a bit out of the blue some weeks ago.

    New/Changed:

    • Initial (beta) Direct3D 12 support, currently Z3D only.
    • DirectVR memory scanner reliability improvements.
    • New updater, hopefully less prone to false positve detections by trigger happy AV-programs.

    Bugfixes:

    • Fixed a small D3D11 G3D memory leak in games that frequently recreate constant buffers (e.g. Unreal Engine 4).
    • Fixed a potential D3D9 DLL path mismatch.
    • Automatically created profiles for unsupported games had no .exe assigned in system config.
    • Touch controllers did not work as intended in SteamVR mode with forced legacy OpenVR input.

    New Game Profiles:

    • Red Dead Redemption II: Z3D, Immersive Screen Mode, DirectVR: tweaks
    • The Outer Worlds: G3D/Z3D, FullVR mode, DirectVR: tracking, FOV, tweaks

    Game Profile Changes/Fixes:

    • GTA V: workaround for VR controller issues with mods that use OpenVR legacy input
    • CounterStrike GO: fixed hook not working after a recent game update.
    • Conarium: improved DirectVR memory scanner settings
    • Blair Witch: improved DirectVR memory scanner settings
    • Conan Exiles: improved DirectVR memory scanner settings

Unable to test the wmr fix atm, but this is good news. Thanks.

VorpX updates are anything but annoying. Cool a possible fix for this WMR/SteamVR issue! I’ll give it a try this afternoon!

the GTAV fixes are they related to the mod

    OpenVR Support

    or the REAL mod

The changes are related to the GrandTheftVR mod that adds full motion controller support. It works again now with SteamVR headsets like Vive/Index etc, but still not with Oculus.

Since the “Outer Worlds” official profile G3D has not been working on my end. Using a Samsung Odyssey+. z3d is working, but G3D not. I’m seeing the sky in one eye and dark shadowy images in the left eye. I restarted the game after adjusting the 3d effect to G3d, but the issue persisted. Restarted the game 3 consequently but no dice. Any advice?

Yeah it works excellent on wmr with the odyssey.Interesting that on vorpx it doesn’t work with gta5 on the oculus but in that lukeross real mod only oculus works.Like Samsung android vs apple.

Any idea why Vorpx won’t hook to Gears 4? I’ve tried other Unreal Engine profiles, but nothing. Not hooking. FYI Using Xbox game pass version

Im not sure if this is the same problem we were having with Outer Worlds not hooking recently, some of us used this method in this thread to get it to hook. Might be able to do something similar for Gears, honestly dont know for sure though.

I’m relatively certain that Gears 4 is an UWP (Universal Windows Platform) application. UWP was introduced together with the Windows Store and differs in various ways from from traditional (‘Win32’) Windows applications. Among other things these applications are protected against hooking into them.

Until not too long ago every app available from the Windows Store had to be an UWP app. Recently MS has eased that a bit, hence now traditional Win32 apps like the Outer Worlds are also availabe via the Windows Store (or Game Pass), but I’m almost 100% certain that Gears 4, coming from Microsoft directly, is an UWP app and thus can’t be hooked without some serious hacking.

Does the outerworlds update give full control of directvr scan? I’m only getting it to scan for headtracking.

The DirectVR portion of the profile supports rotational tracking via memory scanning and FOV (plus some tweaks) via automated ini-editing.

In other words, it adjusts FOV on its own? It does seem better this time around.

It automatically sets the FOV in the game’s ini file. Whenever vorpX adjusts the FOV in such a case, you see a notification in the headset and in the lop left corner of the game window, prompting you to restart the game so that the new setting is applied. If you don’t see that notification, the FOV (hopefully) has already been applied.

BTW: You can revert any changes vorpX does to .ini files in the config app (‘Restore Game Settings’).
