Works fine on one my machines (older, running Windows 7), but I get the 30 sec crash on the other (newer, running Windows 8).

Perhaps it’s worth noting that even though BI starts through Steam on both machines, it does work fine on the one through which I initially installed from the DVD-ROMs (Windows 7), but does NOT work on the 2nd machine (Windows 8) through which I merely duplicate installed directly from my Steam online account without the DVD-ROMS.

This second to-be-installed-on Windows 8 machine was actually the first one I tried with vorpX as it was the newer faster one. As luck would have it, my DVD-ROMS have been damaged so unfortunately I can’t try re-installing from them on the Windows 8 non-working machine to see if it makes a difference.

    So this was interesting…

Regarding at least the Bioshock Inf. 30 sec crash:
I just installed vorpX on another rig of mine… and all is fine with BI. A main difference between it and my other machine? It runs on Windows 7, not Windows 8 with touchscreen. I’d be curious to know if others who are specifically getting the BI 30 sec crash tend to be on Windows 8 rather than 7. (Incidentally, on my windows 8 rig, I did disable the touch interface to see if that’d help, to no avail). BTW, BI is not only working through vorpX on my Windows 7 machine without a problem, but I didn’t even disable any of the other things on my system suggested in the various troubleshooting tips given. Vereio is still on the machine, all the dll files still there, etc., etc.. I didn’t have to undo any of the things suggested and this Windows 7 machine, the whole shebang was pretty much plug and play. And the game does look gorgeous. So, don’t know if there’s correllation between vorpX functionality and version of windows being used, but thought I’d put the question out there. :)

Thanks for your thorough response, Ralf. To answer your question, what I thought, by virtue of the last official post on the matter, was that the status of future intentions for a fix for what seemed to be described as not affecting a comparatively significant amount of users… that the status of any specific agenda to spend further time, not to mention how much, in pursuing this particular fix wasn’t quite explicitly stated one way or another yet. I know sometimes if a problem isn’t considered significantly widespread enough, it becomes counter-productive to meaningfully allocate further official troubleshooting resources toward. Not knowing you, what was already on your plate, nor where you stood on this specific tech issue, I didn’t have a clear basis to form any entitled expectation. So, rather than assume one way or another, I thought it simple enough to ask, merely to gain explicit clarification from your point of view, on the issue’s agenda from here on out, that’s all. And you just now responded to this in spades quite clearly, so, again, very much appreciated for your answer, Ralf, thank you.

I actually bought Bioshock Infinite for PC specifically for Oculus and vorpx, but otherwise my games tend to be on console. So BI was gonna be the one vorpX test case for me. I will look over the troubleshooting list again to make sure there’s nothing I’ve missed. I hope there somehow was, and it ends up being the thing that solves it. Barring that, I look forward to your future fix and enjoying your product’s bringing out that wonderful new dimension to Bioshock that so many others are currently getting to enjoy and rave about. Envy. Want to play, too.

    Thanks.

Those Bioshock Infinite reports make me really sad. Its such beautiful game with the Rift. Unfortunately I’m not able to reproduce something like this and for others who posted here it seems to work fine too. Such things are hard to track down… Might this somehow be location dependent? Maybe someone can provide me with a savegame. Might be a long shot, but is worth a try.

Thanks, your genuinely expressed sadness for your product not functioning on our machines is at least appreciated. But, your sadness aside, having not seen any updates here for a possible future fix, is that kind of the end of the line then? Is a fix no longer being pursued?

In my case, I hadn’t tinkered at all with my machine prior, (it’s only a few months old) and everything was working without vorpX installed. Since installing, I’ve tried everything suggested here, but nothing’s preventing vorpX from it’s thus far unfailing track record for crashing Bioshock Inf. without exception.

So, would you suggest those for whom vorpX is non-functioning by this point, just go ahead, throw up our hands and gracefully accept the unfortunate technical reality that we don’t get to use this purchase… and then start your refund process?

Same problem here. I’ve been trying to boot up Bioshock Inf. (pretty much, the main reason I bought vorpX). Game plays fine without vorpX enabled. And Rift has worked fine on my machine. But when I turn vorpX on, it crashes Bioshock right after playing some of the opening title sequences. Every. Single. Time.
    What a bummer.

    Here are my machine specs:
    Processor
4th Generation Intel Core i7-4770s processor (8M Cache, up to 3.9 GHz)
    Operating System
    Windows 8 Pro, 64-bit, English
    Display
27 inch LED Backlit Touch Display with IPS/Anti Glare and Adobe RGB QHD resolution (2560 X 1440)
    Memory
    16GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz – 2 DIMMs
    Hard Drive
2TB 7200 rpm SATA 6Gb/s Hard Drive + 32GB mSATA Solid State DriveBP
    Video Card
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2GB DDR5 with TPM V1.2
