Very NICE!!!!! but can you please add Garrys Mod too? thanks!

Myst V was unexpected but i def will have to download it ;-) never played the full one guess i have a reason to now!

  2. Ralf

Garry’s Mod is a Half-Life 2 mod, isn’t it? If so, it should run without any issues.

Myst might not be everybodys cup uf tea, but I always liked the series. And it’s just the right kind of game for the Rift as far I’m concerned. Slow pace, no violence and beautiful environments that you just can’t find anywhere in the real world. Perfect. Shooters are still nice though. :-)

  3. Evenios

well just double check to make sure it does and then add it the list as im sure a lot of people will be excited to hear that i think Garrys Mod would be absolutely perfect for the Rift as its a big sandbox and theres tons of maps you can get for it too!

no minecraft yet eh? Guess it would be more complicated its not DirectX and i hear there is some issue in figuring out how to render it right to use with the rift oh well i am sure someone will figure it out now that the SDK and docs are out :-). but this list is really nice System Shock 2 and Quake 1 is a nice suprise too (with the directx mod) which directx mod will you need to run Quake? Darkspaces? or another?

and Morrowind will work with the Morrowind Graphics Overall 3.0 Mod? is what you mean by directx addon?_) I have that one but it crashes off and on so maybe i need to just reinstall very nice you include Morrowind/Oblivion and SKyrim! awesome! all 3 provide lots of content for exploring too!

(crosses fingers for World of Warcraft at release) as lots of land to explore there too.

Great list so far! in two months when i get mine hopefully its great to know ill have a ton of content already for it! and they said consumers shoudnt get teh dev kit ;-) (though i plan on making a 3d demo using unity though so ) :-D fun!

  4. Evenios

ooh maybe Uru Online? (if it has a First person mode i forgot if it did or not) :-) nice and its fully free now i think :-)

  5. Evenios

nevermind.. myst online/uru live has some weird FOV issues in widecsreen for me and i dont think you can fully look up :-p besides Myst 5 has better graphics anyways!

  6. VRnow

Hey, Would Second life be a possible addition?
    Amazing list anyway:)

    • Ralf

Don’t say that too often. I may start believing it otherwise. ;)

  7. Aled

Euro Truck Simulator 2 would be a perfect fit! Would be awesome if it could be supported.

Either way, this is seriously great work – can’t wait to visit Columbia in the Rift!

  8. jack

Just got my Rift yesterday and I can’t wait for this. I totally would have waited to play Bioshock Infinite if I had know it would be supported but unfortunately, I finished it today.

Any idea of when you’ll release?

  9. Evenios

technically speaking he prob could release it anytime once he intigrates the SDK info with it (the new info about the warping etc which is included with the SDK docs i think so he could have it out even before he gets his rift but im sure he wants to test it himself. he…er you could just offer a discounted “alpha” test offer like some devs are doing now where you pay less for an earlier verson but get free updates :-). Just a thought! woudnt mind putting some money down now even though i wont be able to properly test it out with the Rift yet can at least see that the rendering seems good and works framerate wise on my PC :-D.

    Cant wait!

I also would like to see second life supported if possible would be amazing but its OpenGL like minecraft so…

  10. Lama

I like where this is going.

Any chance for Gothic 3 ?

    • Ralf

Gothic 3 works in principle (tested with the latest Forsaken Gods community patch .exe). It has some minor issues though, that’s why it’s not in the official list.

  11. GrantB

Great Work Ralf. Super excited for Bioshock series and Dishonored. I’ve been holding off playing them just in case.

  12. Arni1984

    Hi Ralf!
3D for BIOSHOCK Infinite – does not work on 3D VISION! Run through the TriDef … But after an hour of play starts falling frames and stuttering …
What is the 3D, you ran on Infinite RIFT? Real or conversion? There are issues with curves shaders in 3D?
    Thank you.

  13. Arni1984

Honestly Ralf … Low resolution in RIFT … How much it interferes with play? You can read the subtitles?

    • Ralf

I don’t think there is an answer that is valid for everyone.

The first games I played on a PC had a 320×200 pixel resolution, and I had a lot of fun with those games back then. So for me the resolution of the devkit is good enough.

It could obviously be better though, and will most likely for the consumer Rift, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with the devkit.

  14. Evenios

yay! VorpX needs more publicity how is it that that stupid “sinful robots” company got publicity for thta pr0n game which i think that company is a dud and looks like its going to fall through anyways and VorpX isnt in the tech blogs too! maybe when it is closer to release ;-) this is most likelty the single best thing to come for the Oculus Rift outside of the SDK while clearly the unit will have low res screens with tweaking (or just turning off the HUD for some areas) it still will provide much much more content to play around with it :-) and even greater value when the Consumer version comes out as many of these games would never get offical support (like Flight Sim X which entire staff was let go and the flight sim studio part closed down…) :-)

  15. Jademalo

    Oh man, Tomb Raider support!

Also, I just finished infinite, I’m probably gonna play it again with this.

I do have one question though – The Portal Support, does it include Portal 2? That was one of the main games I was hyped about the rift for.

  16. Jademalo

And by Tomb Raider, I mean the old, actual puzzling Tomb Raiders. I didn’t like the new one.

Also, With HL2, does that include Ep1 and Ep2?
    Does Witcher include Witcher 2?

    Cant wait, thanks!

(Sorry about the double post, hit post too quick and can’t edit)

  17. eqzitara

It seems I’m going to be getting my rift many months from now but Ill still def. buy your software on release. Good luck

Just one mention, how is witcher 1 supported? Doesnt it use hardware mouse? Im uncertain how that would work.

    • Ralf

If you refer to cursor issues with games using a hardware cursor, there is a solution for that.

  18. Cruzer

I have to ask but is dirt showdown supported? otherwise great work! and cant wait to start playing! just picked up some of the games on that list just to have them ready :P

    • Ralf

There is a high chance that Dirt Showdown support will be easy to add. It just hasn’t been done yet. Without stereoscopy it might even work out of the box.

More games with stereo-support will be added after the initial release. The above list is just a start.

  19. mikearms24`

Ralf, any idea if the Rift screen would be upgradeable in a DIY fashion? Love the games list!

    • Ralf

I have no clue, sorry. Depending on ones DIY-skills it might be possible, I would guess, provided the devkits controller board supports higher resolutions.

  20. ScorpyX

We forget one of the best 3d expirience
    – Mirrors Edge

  21. Jason

Is there a specific hurdle you are encountering with implementing head tracking in racing titles? Seems that every racing game in the list except rFactor has no head tracking. Is there a technical issue or have you just not made it that far yet?

Doesn’t bother me too much anyways, I’ve got rFactor and a few great mods, should be fun!

    Thanks for this!

    • Ralf

Games that don’t allow you to look around with the mouse are a problem in general. That includes some racing titles. I’m working on something, but I’m not sure whether that will make it into the first release.

  22. Tim Skijwalker

    MASS EFFECT 2+3.

    AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW YEAH!!!

thank you soo much! freaking awesome. Now i need an oculus rift -_- I hope they are releasing the consumer version anytime soon.

  23. Arni1984

Ralf! You did not answer … BIOSHOCK Infinite you started in 3D or 2D?
And more! How well will be compatible with VorpX GPU from NVIDIA? TriDef have a problem with that!

  24. eqzitara

    @Ralf.
Yes, thats what I ment. I didnt think that was possible. Well thats good, look forward to it.

  25. Gadam

Dear Esther is one of the highlights there, for me. I plan on getting over the early motion sickness they speak of in that game. Slow pace and no action seems a perfect combo for getting acquainted to it.

    Thanks for working on this!

  26. JRD3D

Even as old as it is, Quake 1 has always been one of my favorite games and I can’t wait to play it in the Rift!

  27. m4tt

Why Fallout 3 and not New Vegas?
They use the same engine, same controls, everything. They can and have been merged together using mods. I’m sure it won’t be hard to put New Vegas in Rift if 3 is.
Thanks for bringing our favourite games to this new piece of technology.

Allegedly Vireio has support for Mirror’s edge, but it would be nice to have vorpx support for that game. Ralf, do you know if the VorpX solution would support higher resolutions if one were able to upgrade their screen?

    • Ralf

Higher resolutions are no problem for vorpX. It works with any resolution you set.

  30. TenaciousJay

Any chance VorpX will support any of Eagle Dynamic’s titles (Flaming Cliffs 3, DCS A-10C, Black Shark 2)?

What about Activision’s Apache Air Assault?

Also, I am a java/objective-C programmer and was wondering if I could get involved with porting stuff to the rift but I’m not sure what is involved in getting pre-existing games to work with it. You’re not actually ripping open source code for these games I assume, is it more like tinkering with .ini files or something?

  31. Max

Any chance of Doom 3 BFG Edition support considering its not supported any more

    • Ralf

No OpenGL in the first release of vorpX, sorry.

I’m pretty sure though that there will be a Doom 3 version with working Rift support, since the Doom 3 code is open source.

  32. Adim

So it’s not just me…. ‘old’ Tomb Raider, the serenity and the wonder…. installment #1 was the only one I truly loved….. I guess someone needs to remake it first!

  33. Adim

Wondering how well a pool game would work… Ralf, have you experimented? Would save me extending the house…

  34. Reaper

Any chance for Serious Sam HD 2nd Encounter & 3 BFE?
Trine 1&2 and Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams are platformers with Sterescopic 3D supported.
Would be really cool if those worked as well since most of my favorites are already on the supported list…

Also Titan’s Quest has also native sterescopic support!

I know that you have alot to do and priorities, since it is going to take a while before I get my Oculus VR anyway, time is not important as the support itself…

  35. BoltUpright

Casting a 3rd vote for Second Life! ;)

Gary’s Mod is a good idea as well due to it’s sandbox nature.

And I would like to nominate the WWI dogfight game: Rise of Flight as a great candidate for vorpX.
Check out this youtube video for a nice idea of what it might look like as a Rift game:
    /watch?v=ryyPQbpvWQw

Where do you think you fall in the shipping guesstimates so far?

Mine may arrive around 4/19, so if you need a beta tester at that time, shoot me an email.
    Good luck with vorpX. Thanks!

    • Ralf

I’m expecting mine in the not too distant future, provided shipping to Europe doesn’t cause huge extra delays.

  36. Steve

    Please add support for:

    Battlefield Bad Company 2

If not likely, how much money would it take to make that possible?

  37. Steve

    Ralf,

How do I get on a list to purchase this when it becomes available? I will purchase this on Day-1 when available.

    • Ralf

      Hi Steve,

For now you can use the ‘Notify me of new posts by email.’-checkbox when you make a comment. This way you will receicve automatic notifications about new blog posts. I’ll integrate better follow options shortly.

Regarding Battlefield Bad Company 2: No promises, but I’ll have a look at it after the initial release. Until then it *may* just work without stereoscopy.

  38. Steve

Thank you Ralf for your quick response. Can’t wait until I can purchase this driver for the Oculus Rift. It looks like an incredible driver. Thank you for the hard work you are putting into it.

  39. Martin

Any chance of getting support for Gaijin’s “War Thunder?” It is a free to play WW2 flight sim – arcade with amazing graphics and highly detailed cockpits. They are adding a tank and naval warfare aspect to it too.

  40. Jesper

I’m very glad to see S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pipyat on your list. The Stalker series are a personal favorite of mine. Any chance Shadow of Chernobyl will be supported?

    • Ralf

More games will be added after the initial release. The above list is not the end.

  41. Jens

You should look into Aerofly FS, it’s a great looking flight simulator. I have no idea of tracking and 3D support in that particular game but a flight simulator would be awesome for the Rift.

  42. Kris

Hi there. I will pick this up the first day it’s available as my Rift should be at my door before May 1st. I had a question about some of the racing titles you have support for. I know that most of the titles you have listed will not have tracking support but most of them all support Track IR and other head tracking systems. I know you have already mentioned no mouse support being the issue so I guess that means there is no way to emulate the Track IR inputs through the motion sensor in the Rift? Could you still use Track IR while wearing the Rift? Thanks for your efforts!

    • Ralf

For games that support TrackIR natively that should be possible. I don’t see a reason why it shouldn’t work.

  43. MR VR

    We have been waiting forever!
Don’t add any new games yet!…Just finish this dude!

  44. Kris

Thanks for the response but I was wondering what part your answer was to. Could you emulate the Track IR inputs through the RIFTs tracking sensor? Like every Codemasters racing title supports Track IR (all axes) so that was my question. You answered you “don’t see a reason why it shouldn’t work” but I think that may have been to if you could wear the TrackIR and use the RIFT at the same time (kinda’ a stupid question, it’s just I didn’t know if the tracking inputs from the TrackIR would mess with the RIFt at all).

    • Ralf

If the TrackIR API was a normal API that would be possible, I’m not sure whether there is a legal way to emulate the API in this case though. As far as I know TrackIR uses a custom encryption with a copyrighted ‘poem’ to prevent exactly that.

Latest version of vorpX has headtracking for Codemaster games though. It’s not perfect due to the way head rotation is handled by the engine without TrackIR, but it works.

  45. Gabe_b

Is there any chance of Just Cause 2 support? Just came across this mod – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mToNr5OHc8k

The idea of cruising round that utterly massive playground in first person VR is pretty exciting, though Avalanche is very much a proprietary engine AFAIK.

  46. Nick S.

Honestly, I can’t wait to try out Dishonored with this! I absolutely loved that game and it seems like it will work very well, although I could see the teleporting and possession causing some motion sickness. That and Arkham City which is another of my all time favorites. I probably won’t have my OR by the time this is released but it will still be a day one purchase for all of the hard work you’ve put into this.

Also, any chance of getting some World of Warcraft support in here or is that just not possible since it’s an MMO?

Also, have you considered adding any sort of calibration tool like what is featured in Vireio Perception (shown at the following link). I’m not sure exactly how much of a difference the calibration will actually make but it may be worth checking out.

    • Ralf

WOW support *might* be added after the initial release. No promises though. :)

You can calibrate your IPD in vorpX. The amount of depth (separation) is *very* carefully pre-defined for each supported game, since in VR especially this is not a more-is-better-setting. Those who like to tweak settings will be able to do this though.

  47. John

    Hey Ralf,

Thanks for all your work on this, very excited to give Vorpx a shot. On a personal level, what game has given you the best experience so far? There are a lot of top notch titles on your list and I assume you’ve given all of them a go.

    • Ralf

Hard to tell. I like Bethesda style RPGs, so Skyrim/Oblivion/Fallout are obvious candidates. The most impressive visual experience might have been the first hour of Bioshock Infinite though. This game looks just awesome. Crysis 3 and Battlefield 3 look really great too. And, and, and… I really can’t a pick single best experience. ;)

  48. Plink

Would really like to see World of Warcraft support added. I currently play using nvidia 3dvision, and it adds a lot. I just like to walk around and look at everything. This would be so much more amazing on the Rift in VR.

  49. Bozo

Thx for your work, do you think you’ll work on Amnesia support one day ? It could be pretty scary with the rift…
Have you an idea when you gonna release your soft ?

  50. Ray Rodriguez III

If possible please add “Rise of Flight”, “War Thunder”, and IL2 with mods =)

I’m thrilled you have made so much progress already, and I’ll buy your software the day it goes on sale.

    Ray Rodriguez III

  51. Luis

Would F1 2012 be a possibility? There are some great mods for the 2012 edition.

  52. Juergen

Crysis 1+3 – does it really mean only Crysis 1 and 3 or is part 2 supported too? I personally would like to see a support for Thief 3, Deus Ex 2 and Mirror’s Edge. However – I’m so excited and waiting hopefully for Oculus Rift. It’s so cool, that you programmed a driver for many of my favorite games, which are already in this list! Cool!

  53. Hyttjo

Have you considered Arma2/Arma 3 Alpha support? Those are just awesome games/engines capable of truly amazing experiences. And already very good freelook/weapon decoupling integrated into the engine.

Also is your driver detected as a cheat by VAC/Punkbuster/BattleEye anti-cheating softwares when playing multiplayer?

  54. Matt

Will Fallout New Vegas be supported since Fallout 3 is or are they completely different? Also I second the suggestion for ArmA support that would be awesome.

  55. Nads

    Hi Mate,

Awesome work! When can i download this and give it a try with my Oculus Rift? Is it anytime soon?

Also please add more horror games to the list, such as the new SLENDER, Amnesia, Penumbra 1-3 etc..

    Thanks

  56. Kerry

I’d love to see Witcher 2, that game was so beautiful!
