    I can get a good deal on a i7 4690k, but I mostly would need it for better game performance. Right now a own a 4670k. Would an upgrade be noticeable in vorpx?

    I would just overclock the 4670k.
    The upgrade gives you 5-10% in modern games, like battlefield 4 (if you have a powerful gpu) and nothing in older ones, like skyrim.

    Thanks. I ended up buying the 4790k anyway. The deal was so good the I might break even, when selling my 4670k. My 4670k was, by the way, a fairly bad batch, so I haven’t had any luck overclocking it. The 4790k should hopefully do better and would also help with my music production.
