A couple of weeks ago i just recieved my Vive Comos..originally i had an oculus rift but the right earphone went out so i thought getting a vive was an upgrade…world of warcraft was running sooo smooth on the oculus rift but the frame rate on the vive isn’t so smooth..the game literlally runs like a flips book animation drawing…i’ve been going back and forth to vorpX and Htc Vive forums to see if anyone is going through the same issue…one guys resolved his but turning off his ant-virus i attempted to do the same with avast anti-virus but it still runs in the background..i always get the vorpX message saying vorpX can’t hook to avast..i tried to use the vive console settings..still the same issue..i noticed the vive uses steam VR and Vive console app..could that be the issue? 2 apps are running for the vive including VorpX? occulus only has one app in use besides Vorpx..but Vive uses steam Vr and its console app.. i think something has to be running in the background…Can you please help me :(

Remove your AV software, that will probably solve your issue. It’s one of those that are not only known to cause constant trouble with vorpX, but also are quite hard to disable.

Invasive third party AV software isn’t really necessary with Windows 10 and often may cause just as many problems as it pretends to solve. Windows 10 comes with Windows Defender built in, which is just as good and kicks in when you remove third party AV.

Unrelated, but if you care about privacy, you might also find interesting that Avast recently was caught selling the browser histories of their users. So much for being ‘free’…

    hey Ralf,

Thanks for the info on AV…i unistalled it but im still having this stutter..its crazy because the oculus wasn’t doing this but yet the vive is suppose to be an upgrade lol.. i wonder could it be something in my nvidia settings.. i wonder could it have something to do with using the card instead of open GL.

also i noticed when i start up the vive 3 different apps open..steam VR, Vive console and Vive Port..is it possible all three programs or clashing causing this stutter? and is it possible to run the vive without steam?

I don’t have a Cosmos, but I’m pretty sure that you don’t need Viveport to be installed. At least with a Vive that is not required, would be surprised if it was with Cosmos.

Apart from that in regard to a smoother framerate it’s always worth a shot do force ‘Fluid Snyc’ on the ‘Display’ page of the vorpX ingame menu.
