Hello, sorry if this question has been asked before (I’m assuming it has been).
I’m looking at buying a Steam Index headset, but all I want to do is play regular PC games through the headset, not actual VR games. I couldn’t find a straight forward answer online, but I wanted to know if the Index base stations are required to use the headset with vorpx? I’m guessing you don’t need them, but I wanted to ask before I buy the Index.

    Thank you

In general yes. vorpX doesn’t care whether you have base stations or not. The only caveat is that an Index without base stations almost certainly only sends rotational head tracking data to SteamVR, for positional head tracking it needs the base stations unless they do some heavy guesswork. Not impossible, but unlikely. That has nothing to do with vorpX though, it’s just how the Index works.
