nm723548ParticipantThe working G3D profile has been uploaded to the cloud.
With EDuke32 r9310 (build Feb 6, 2021), you will be able to play and complete all add-ons that run using the Polymer renderer.
Steps to make everything work
The FOV can be changed in the game options up to 120, and further adjusted in the VorpX menu.
Download and install the EDuke32 port used to play the original game, all official add-ons, and EDuke32 Addon Compilation available from duke4.net.
Download and install ReShade 4.9.1. When installing, select eduke32.exe and only the required effects. Choose OpenGL when prompted for the rendering API. This is essential for VorpX to hook successfully—without ReShade’s opengl32.dll, the image will be completely black.
Any ReShade version that doesn’t crash the game when starting a level should work, as the key factor is ReShade’s opengl32.dll, which differs between versions.
This solution is not perfect, but I was able to complete the first episode of the original game and the Duke Out in D.C. add-on entirely in G3D without issues using ReShade 4.9.1.
Maps with large open areas may crash or lag to the point of being unplayable. In such cases, you will need to disable Polymer in the EDuke32 menu, which means no G3D—these sections must then be played with VorpX Watcher paused in VorpX Virtual Desktop.
Configuration
In the eduke32.cfg file (located in the main folder), modify or add:
ScreenWidth = 3840
ScreenHeight = 2160For this resolution to appear in-game, you must first select it in your display settings after launching VorpX Virtual Desktop.
To enable it:
Create a custom resolution in VorpX Virtual Monitor
Launch VorpX Virtual Desktop
Right-click on the desktop → open Display Settings
Select the desired resolutionOptionally, you can enable Virtual Super Resolution in AMD Adrenalin or the NVIDIA Control Panel. This removes the need to launch VorpX Virtual Desktop beforehand.
Before launching the game, you may need to set:
Display scaling to 100%
Resolution to 3840×2880 in VorpX Virtual DesktopRule of thumb: Always set scaling to 100% and choose your desired resolution in desktop settings after launching VorpX Virtual Desktop and before starting the game or any add-on.
Optional
If you enjoyed the game, you can also try Redneck Rampage and, of course, Duke Nukem Forever. The latter is actually a fun and visually appealing VR experience with great humor. It seems that due to very high expectations at the time of its release, the game ended up being somewhat underrated.
