crazyfox23ParticipantHey there,
I’m quite new to the whole oculus thing, and I just bought Vorpx today. Anyway I’m having problems with the extended mode, but I’m more focused on another problem
Although Vorpx (the actual program) recognises the rift in direct mode (it gives the warning about it), in the configuration settings, It only has Use System Settings, Show On All Monitors (which is greyed out), and Show On PHL 273V5 (My monitor)
When I load up Skyrim with Direct, it loads only on the monitor, with head tracking coming from the oculus, but the oculus is still on standby
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as playing skyrim in vr was the main motivation into getting a rift
cheers

RalfKeymasterYou need to use extended mode, direct mode does not work currently.
You have two options to use vorpX:
A. The convenient one (works with most games)
1. Set the Rift DK2 to “Extend Desktop to HMD”
2. Use the Rift DK2 as SECONDARY monitor in Windows
3. Set the Rift DK2 to “Portrait” mode in Windows
(might be “Landscape flipped” in Windows 8)
4. Set vorpX to “Show on DK2″ display wise in the vorpX config app.B. The compatible one
1. Set the Rift DK2 to “Extend Desktop to HMD”
2. Use the Rift DK2 as PRIMARY monitor in Windows
3. Set the Rift DK2 to “Portrait” mode in Windows
(might be “Landscape flipped” in Windows 8)
4. Set vorpX to “Use system settings” display wise in the vorpX config app.It is important to choose the right setting in the vorpX config app according to your display settings in Windows. For a more detailed guide including screenshots please check the DK2 setup guide that comes with vorpX.

crazyfox23ParticipantThe problem Im having with extended mode is that when I switch to it, the oculus runtime says it has been disconnected. I can’t seem to use it in that setting. Sorry to bring another question, but yeah ive tried heaps of stuff online and none of it seems to work

crazyfox23ParticipantIve since solved the problem, turns out I had to use an older oculus runtime. I don’t know why, but it works just fine now
GTA is awesome, skyrim is great
thanks
