Not specifically VorpX related – Today i noticed through Nvidia Inspector (never checked before) that SteamVR draws 20% power of a GTX1080ti without any game running. (Steam applications are at 0% CPU load) Google doesnt say much about that, some guys have reported high current draws in 2016/2017 but not lately. I have SteamVR 1.3.18.
Yeah, it may have something to do with steam home environment running all the time, so I disabled that.
I’ve noticed also that if I leave steamVR running after I power off my pimax, gpu load runs up and holds around 80%. Like it’s constantly scanning for an hmd or something? It may have something to do with pitool’s implamentation of steamVR, but I don’t know.
May be something worth to mention here, with a driver update from 398xx to 417xx i was able to HALF the baseload of the GPU from 9 to around 4,5%. Though steamvr still draws the same power :-/
