If you got 25.1.4 earlier today (Dec 20), please reinstall using your web installer. It was only up for about an hour before it got pulled again due to a last minute bug that could cause random crashes. New build is up, no version change though, so you have to reinstall manually.

Check the support FAQ if you didn’t keep your installer.

    25/12/20 | vorpX 25.1.4 has been released

This maintenance update mainly focuses on an annoyance affecting mouse/keyboard players in some games that upscale the image to the monitor size. Under certain circumstances that can lead to vorpX’s stereo cursor being shown at a wrong position, making it difficult to hit buttons in menus etc. Various reasons for this super annoying glitch are now covered. The remaining will follow later.

Apart from that there have been a few more fixes and a new profile for Farming Simulator 2025 with automatic FOV and a scalable HUD.

Click here for a list of noteworthy changes

    • vorpX: Improved stereo cursor rendering in games that upscale their output.
    • vorpX: Z3D could break in some games after taking off the headset.
    • vorpX: some games could crash with Windows display scaling set to 150/175.
    • vorpX: some games could crash on audio device change (25.1.3 regression)
    • Farming Simulator 2025: new profile with HUD scaling and DirectVR FOV.
    • Farming Simulator 2022: DirectVR FOV update.
    • Fallout 4: DirectVR FOV scan was broken after a game update.

Happy to report that the latest update made everything look better! At least with my Pimax headsets there has been some problems (aliasing and such) and now it is gone. Also the expert setting that allows user to choose the sampling setting is great, can fix some problems with high sharpening and lower resolutions (patterns on uniformly colored areas, sky etc, choosing linear fixes those, bicubic seems too ‘soft’).

    Dear Ralf,

The games enhanced through vorpX are, in my view, absolute masterpieces and represent the very top of what the gaming industry can offer.
I am currently playing several of the games you have transformed, and I can honestly say that this is the greatest gaming experience I have had in my entire life — and I am 40 years old.

Your work allowed me to experience games in a way that feels years ahead of its time, offering a glimpse into what the future of gaming could truly be.
Please accept my sincere admiration and deep respect for your talent, dedication, and vision.

    With great appreciation,
    Viktor

Ralf: Huge thanks the recent updates! The virtual monitor capability alone is a game changer and I’m amazed how well it works for new titles that refuse to latch (e.g. ARC Raiders) and old titles that have ceased to latch over time (e.g. KCD II).

Any chance you could add an option to specify the width of the virtual screen without fixed ratio restrictions? 4096 x 2160 is my go to, 5120 x 2160 at 21:9 is as close as I can get now without sacrificing height, and it’s a tad too much for my rig.

    Thanks!
    jaz

are you saying the latest vorpx version supports Arc Raiders? I don’t see the game in supported games list on the website

    26/01/13 | vorpX 25.1.5 has been released

Another maintenance update. Addresses a couple of input glitches, comes with a rewritten host-exit that better handles exit crashes with Meta’s OpenXR since a recent Meta Link update, makes alternative hooking usable for more games, fixes a rare DX9 issue, has a bunch of profile fixes/updates and more.

Click here for a list of noteworthy changes

    • vorpX: keys wrongly blocked in some DirectInput games (e.g. Fallout 3/NV).
    • vorpX: the tracking center hotkey also ensures foreground and input focus.
    • vorpX: ALT+TAB and back could occasionally confuse key state tracking.
    • vorpX: fixed cursor clipping in some older games (e.g. Metro 2033).
    • vorpX: headset audio device switching did not work anymore.
    • vorpX: D3D9: better unhooked surfaces handling, e.g. Venetica ALT+TAB crash.
    • vorpX: improved host exit, cleaner in various games and with Meta OpenXR.
    • vorpControl: folder exclude handles symlinks (e.g. latest EA Desktop).
    • vorpControl: minimize runtime windows option supports latest Quest Link.
    • vorpControl: alternative hooking working for more games.
    • Cyberpunk 2077: improved sync between mod-portion and vorpX.
    • Tron 2.0: .ini changes weren’t applied anymore since a while.
    • Dishonored 2: scalable HUD added.
    • Dragon Age Origins: deal with GOG version 2-core lock.
    • Dragon Age II: deal with GOG version 2-core lock.
    • Farming Simulator 25: Fixed a Z3D issue related to vehicle mirror count.

    Hi Ralph,
Having a Pimax Light and soon a Pimax Air Dream, I appreciate the Virtual monitor with higher custom resolutions but I can’t make make it proper work.
Where canI see and how do I choose a specific custom high resolution (or even the predifined above 4k res)?
For example in Metro Exodus, in game’s vorpx overlay I only see nice/ultra game settings but it changes nothing in game, it always looks low res. Only way I found is disable desktop viewer to use my 4k tv res 2160p, but I want to go higher & 1:1 resolution
    Cheers

Hi, could you please explain some lines of the changelog?

    v25.1.3 for example:
    – Battlefield 2 could crash on map load.
    – some games could crash on CPUs with more than 12 cores.

    – DX9: some FPS lost since quite a while have been reclaimed (eg. Skyrim).
    – DX11: Z3D did not work anymore in several games (e.g. COD Black Ops III).

    or v25.1.4
    – Z3D could break in some games after taking off the headset.
    – some games could crash with Windows display scaling set to 150/175.
    – some games could crash on audio device change (25.1.3 regression)

    or v25.1.5:
    – headset audio device switching did not work anymore.

Do these lines describe bugs that were fixed, or issues that were discovered / introduced?

    @ chtiblue

IIRC another Pimax user recommended to turn off fixed foveated rendering in the Pimax software regarding a similar issue. Doesn‘t really make sense performance wise with vorpX anyway since games always render at their own resolution. Foveated rendering only applies to vorpX’s second render step where the final image is sent to the headset, which costs almost nothing compared to the actual game rendering.

Also make sure that the virtual monitor is actually active. It‘s not active when you just launch a game from your normal Windows desktop. You can activate it e.g. by launching the vorpX desktop viewer and putting on your headset.

    @ 333hronos

    Fixed obviously.

    @Ralph,
Thanks but I don’t use Pimax foveated rendering nor gpu scaling.
And yes I’m using Vorpx desktop viewer with virtual monitor activated.
In virtual monitor settings I ticked “add predifined resolutions above 4k” and even add a custom 2880×2800 resolution.
But ingame settings didn’t show any of those above 4k resolutions and putting game settings to nicer or ultra doesn’t change the resolution of the game.
How do I change game resolution with Vorpx overlay? And how do I know which resolution is the game rendering?
It would be nice to have a slider resolution like in other VR mods (UEVR or Luke Ross etc)

Other thing is when I use the VR detection from Vorpx in Metro, my view in headset is not free like it should in VR, I had this in other game and had to sxitch Vr memory off in Vorpx to get the normal free view but it doesn’t work with Metro Exodus…

Ok I figured some things :)
I don’t know why but this time all the resolutions appeared in game video settings.
To free my view with the headset I had to crankd up headset sensitivity to 4.0 way more than usual.

Only problem I still have is with Vorpx my Xbox controller isn’t properly working in game when it works perfect without Vorpx. With Vorpx interaction keys always switch to keyboard keys so it’s a pita to use inventory, open doors etc…
If I override Xbox controller in Vorpx, it changes keys or doesn’t respond at all
