Cless_AurionParticipantWait, half disregard my last message!!
I didn’t realize there was a 25.1.1 version since an update prompt didn’t pop up! I did all my last message’s tests on the older v24.
I rerun everything on the new one, and although it isn’t perfect, it is WAY better now, so whatever you touched, it did work to some degree @Ralf!
I’d say we’re easy 25-50% higher resolution now, at 3000×3000 guessing by eye? Up from like… 2160!
This is definitely on the playable side, sure it isn’t perfect, but text isn’t poking my eyes out anymore, and putting massive anti-aliasing seems to help lots.I did the Baldur’s Gate 3 test again, and now the image on the SteamVR menu and the VorpX one are soooo close, it is nitpicking to complain about it!
Thanks @Ralf!
Could you change the title of this thread to something like [SOLVED]Won’t be recommending VorpX anymore due to low resolution bug :(Nov 22, 2025 at 3:06am #222422
austintParticipantHello,
I am a Pimax Crystal Super user and I am also having this issue to the tea. It’s obvious that Vorpx isn’t rendering at the actual resolution of the headset. The “screen” texture does have the correct screen resolution.
While running in Vorpx I looked at my SteamVR resolution and it’s at 7640×7688 (crazy high resolution lol). So, SteamVR should be reporting the correct resolution to Vorpx.
Instead, it feels like it’s still using the resolution of my old Valve Index.

austintParticipantScratch that, looks like my client was on version 23. Going to download the newest now.

austintParticipantI’ve upgraded to version 25.1.2. Unfortunately, my resolution is still unchanged from version 23.

RalfKeymaster- You have to run games at the resolution you want them to run, i.e. change the resolution in the game options accordingly. vorpX does not automatically render games at the resolution you set in SteamVR, The resolution set in the game options is the only thing you have to care about.
- If after setting the game resolution high enough you still get a pixelated image, the issue is caused by the Pimax software after vorpX hands the image over to SteamVR. This is not an issue on vorpX’s end. There is no, and never has been a ‘low resolution bug’. What I’m getting from this thread here is that the issue might be related to Pimax’s fixed foveated rendering, which should be turned off.
- If that still doesn’t help, ask Pimax what the heck they are doing.
