Hi, I would really like to play **Metro Exodus** using the G3D DX11 profile, but it’s not working. I’ve tried reinstalling it, but that didn’t help. Can someone please assist?

This is a great title, and since it’s listed as working with the default G3D profile, it would be nice to get it running properly.

I am using a generic 3D display config, and I tested it with another game, Fallout: New Vegas, which worked fine. BTW Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition has the same problem.

Use the regular Metro Exodus, not the Reamster/extended or whatever it was called. Still works fine, just checked it not too long ago.

“Enhanced” Edition doesn’t have G3D (but it can be played in full VR with an unofficial profile, even if I would recommand Standard DX12 instead if you want to play with Z3D and raytracing, because it’s very beautiful & optimized, you don’t have Depht of Field / blur and you can switch to G3D when you want – which is much better indoors).

    There are details here :

Is Metro Exodus Enhanced working for anybody?

They don’t behave the same way at all so maybe you did something wrong.

In your case, if you just want 3D, given Z3D DX12 profile isn’t very powerful, you really have to use the Standard edition with the official profile to get G3D (you don’t have to import/apply anything, it works by default), and you must specify DX11 in the game’s option before using VorpX (so launch it in flat at least once in order to change video settings).

The Enhanced Edition and the Standard DX12 versions both use a different profile than the Standard DX11 version.
But in this case, you have to manually activate the other profile the first time you use it, as explained in the link I shared. This requires renaming the executable or using another method described in other threads to use an unofficial profile instead of an official one.
For example, you can use this on Steam version :
    https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/11xwfjy/change_the_exe_name_of_any_steam_game_very_useful/

It is very unlikely that both profiles don’t work.

You mean you can’t hook ? Is game crashing ?

Both profiles work for me, as far as I know. I don’t have the last VorpX version (still with V24) but Ralf said he tried recently.

Regarding video settings, I have never used DLSS in this game because there was much more details without it, and this game is very optimized (but I’m not sure if it can be enabled with DX11 anyway).

I want to play in G3D, so any DX12 profiles do not work for me. I have tried both versions of the game: the standard edition and the Enhanced Edition, which only supports DX12. In both cases I get the same issue: vorpX starts hooking, the “loading vorpX” message appears, then a black game window briefly opens and closes and nothing else happens. As I said, I’m not interested in DX12 Z3D at all, I just can’t stand it and want to play the standard in G3D.

Please check wehether you maybe accidentally disabled automatic settings in the config app. With the original Metro Exodus vorpX will set up everything automatically. Having automatic settings enabled is important for many official profiles to ensure you don’t need to tinker to get things working.

Where is this setting? Is it the “Dont optimize game settings”? This one is not checked, I havent messed up with the configuratios since Ive installed vorpx, should be all default. I am using “generic 3d display” with virtual desktop, could it be the problem?

Hi Ralf, would you be able to have a look at the logs I exported? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gRk1DspSZbDB-s12LJbTwsjwQnu1erd2/view?usp=sharing
