Hi guys, I’ve just recently purchased vortx so excuse me but I am a bit of a noob with it :-)

The first problem i have is I’ve tried dead space 2-3 and outlast and each game is zoomed in too much so i can hardly see anything. It’s a little better once the game starts, but in the menus I cant see hardly anything. When i look around the screen follows my field of view therefore i can’t look left and right to see the menus properly. Is their any way to fix this? I managed to set screen size to the smallest, 1024 x 768 (or something like that) which is slightly better but still…..can’t see much.

Second thing is when i start the games, it shows up on my oculus rift but not on my monitor. I have my PC hooked up to my 55″ TV so when mates come round we take it in turns with the Oculus but it sucks if nobody else can see what’s going on on the screen. Can i enable the screen as well as the oculus? Thanks

    FOV (“zoomed in”):

Please read the Essential Game Hints in the vorpX help. Among other important information there you find all possible options that vorpX provides to deal with this. What can be exactly, depends on the game.

    Mirror:

The ingame menu has an option called “Direct Mode Show Original” on the display page. If you run games windowed, you get another option called “Direct Mode Show Mirror Window”, which displays the output like seen in the headset.

Open the ingame menu with [DEL] and then navigate to the “Display” page (the third I think). There it’s the first or second entry.

Ahh i get you sorry, i was looking in the actual dead space menu, my bad.

In game, when I look left, right etc, the camera follows my movements so i can’t look behind me like in most oculus rift games/experiences. Is this how it’s supposed to be on these game?

Either that or you can play in Virtual Cinema mode (can be activated in the vorpX ingame menu). Once you activated that you can lock the head tracking so that the game camera isn’t controlled by head tracking anymore.

For third person games like Dead Space many people find that preferable.

In Virtual Cinema mode you can also change the background scene and adjust the screen distance for better immersion. I like the “Ambience” scene and the screen moved a bit closer for third person games.

Yeah i looked at that virtual cinema mode, it looked pretty mint. The game gets blurry now and again and like a bit of a black mark in the left goggle. I turned the “get rid of black marker” option on in the ingame menu but doesn’t make much difference. It could be just shadows reflecting on to the goggles to be honest.
