Benedict81ParticipantTried something else last night. While on Virtual Desktop, I switched the Virtual Monitor off first, desktop came back to my monitor on a correct resolution, HMD went black, but that just needed a reset on the HMD. Yeah, I can live with this coz everything else works just fine but a weird thing nonetheless.

RalfKeymasterAs said above already, there might be nothing to fix on my end. Meta, WMR, even Valve within the boundaries of its flaws work. So to me it looks quite a bit more likely that the Pimax OpenXR runtime does something weird. I’ll still check, of course.

RalfKeymasterI see. I’ll check whether my old Pimax uses that. OpenXR should be universal though, taht’s the point of it. So without having tested anything, I would carefully tend to blame the Pimax OpenXR runtime for your issue. I’ll check anyway.

dellrifter22ParticipantI too have recenlty moved to a Pimax Crystal Super. Great Z3D image quality, but heavy to run with steamVR. I’m already missing openXR haha.
PimaxPlay now has a built in OpenXR functionality that works with flight sims, but when I try it with vorpX openXR, it doesn’t quite catch. I can see vorpX hooking and hear the game audio, but the image just fades to a frozen wallpaper of the Pimax home, until I close the game.
If one of these days, Ralf, you have an hour or two to investigate this (in the off chance it’s a simple renaming fix or something), I too would be grateful.

RalfKeymasterReally weird, just disable the virtual monitor in the config app then. You’ll lose its benefits (no more custom resolutions fiddling + matched refresh rates), but everything should work like before, i.e. your actual monitor is captured by the desktop viewer.

Benedict81ParticipantOk, first I tried the method that was on by default, when I put on my HMD, the monitor shuts down and so on. I tried to change the method to fully manual, where I have to shut down the monitor my self, but that resulted in black screen on the HMD when the monitor was shut down and I had to reboot the HMD to get any picture back. Using the method where Vorpx shuts the monitor automatically works fine otherwise, been gaming quite well with that, but finishing a session is a problem because the desktop is on some wanky low resolution after that. I have Pimax Crystal headset, I don’t have the latest Pimax Play release because that broke something with Vorpx, I think I couldn’t use the Vorpx Virtual Desktop at all with the latest release (they broke other things too when they added the Sharpening and GPU scaling functions to the Pimax Play so I reverted to the latest working release and been using that ever since). Windows 11 with all the latest updates aswell.

RalfKeymasterThe days of WoW with vorpX may be over, at least as far as the main version is concerned. Just checked it two days ago and apparently they added some new DLL blocking/anticheat system. According to various posts on the WoW forum stuff like Reshade doesn’t work either anymore. A true shame, I just updated vorpX to work with the last iteration of their renderer not too long ago. Maybe things will change again after one of the next WoW updates, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
WoW Classic still seems to work at this point (or at least it did two days ago) and got a dedicated profile with automated settings optimization in 25.1.1.

CupeDeNoodelParticipantI managed to get in using Hook helper at generic mode.
The d3d 10/11/12 mode just says incorrect video.Once I am in the game all the characters on the menu looks black.
No texture whatsoever. But in game i can see everything clearly.
But the game crashed in under a minute.
This happens every single time.
Replicated it maybe 6 times. Crashed to desktop all 6 times.

RalfKeymaster1.
Sounds as if everything works as it should. With the desktop viewer vorpX now switches to its new virtual display, which supports all vorpX specific resolutions per default, let’s you easily add even more in the config app, and for a uniquley (at least I think so) smooth desktop experience runs at the refresh rate of your headset. Other displays are blanked out on purpose since 1. mirroring the virtual display on them is unlikely to work due to resolution/refresh rate mismatch, 2. that way games only see the virtual display, which makes using it in games hassle free.
If you don’t need/want that, e.g. because you want to show others what you do in VR, you can easily revert back to the prior behavior by disabling the virtual display in the config app. However, the virtual display is so useful in so many ways that I’d heavily recommend to only disable it if you absolutely need your other displays while in VR.
2.
That sounds weird. The desktop viewer should launch in immersive screen mode. Try a factory reset in the config app (trouble dhooting page).

in forum Technical Support
OrdalixParticipantHello,
I have 2 problems since the last update.1. When I launch Vorpx Desktop Viewer, my PC screen simply turns off (this wasn’t the case before).
2. The display in my VR headset is stuck in “head-tracking mode” (sorry, I don’t know the technical term). That means I can see my desktop, but when I move my head, the desktop moves as well. Whether I switch to VR mode, immersion, cinema, or anything else, it doesn’t change.
Thanks for the help

RalfKeymasterJust realized that the issue might have been caused by a small change in the installer I made yesterday, will probably work now if you try again.
If not:
If you didn’t keep your web installer, you can get one from the link below.
If the issue is caused by your antivirus, that might not work either though. If you use something else than Defender, really just get rid of it. There is zero reason to use some extra annoying third party AV since many, many years.

WoppercybParticipantRalf, thank you very much for your reply.
I’ve tried disabling my antivirus, and the result is the same. But I’ve discovered something: when I disable the internet connection, vorpX starts correctly, and I can use it normally even after connecting to the internet. Obviously, if I quit the application and restart it with an internet connection, it goes into a loop again. But at least I can use version 21.3.5.
Could you tell me if it’s possible to download version 25 (or the latest version) so I can install it directly? Thank you very much.Sep 2, 2025 at 11:07pm #222045In reply to: vorpX 25.1.5 Available Now
Benedict81ParticipantFor some reason, when using the virtual desktop now (and my monitor is shutdown), after exiting the virtual desktop, my actual desktop goes to some really low resolution, sometimes so low that I have to reboot the whole system coz I can’t see what I am trying to do (change the desktop resolution back to normal). A small weirdness, but a strange thing nonetheless.

RalfKeymasterI see. Vulkan is not supported. The desktop viewer is the only option in that case.
Your actual monitor should come back after a while when something goes wrong with the virtual monitor. At the worst about 30 seconds after taking off your headset.
You can also disable the virtual monitor in the config app. It’s quite useful though since it comes with many vorpX specific resolutions predefined and runs at the refresh rate of your headset for a uniquely (at least I think so) smooth desktop experience.

RalfKeymasterDisclaimer: I have not tried the profile, and can’t say anything about its quality. Just got curious since profiles disappearing from the cloud might have indicated some server issue.
There is a profile named ‘Final Fantasy VII REMAKE (OLDDONT USE)’. Probably that’s the one bjr84 meant.
