“Enhanced” Edition doesn’t have G3D (but it can be played in full VR with an unofficial profile, even if I would recommand Standard DX12 instead if you want to play with Z3D and raytracing, because it’s very beautiful & optimized, you don’t have Depht of Field / blur and you can switch to G3D when you want – which is much better indoors).

    There are details here :

Is Metro Exodus Enhanced working for anybody?

They don’t behave the same way at all so maybe you did something wrong.

In your case, if you just want 3D, given Z3D DX12 profile isn’t very powerful, you really have to use the Standard edition with the official profile to get G3D (you don’t have to import/apply anything, it works by default), and you must specify DX11 in the game’s option before using VorpX (so launch it in flat at least once in order to change video settings).

In general yes. vorpX doesn’t care whether you have base stations or not. The only caveat is that an Index without base stations almost certainly only sends rotational head tracking data to SteamVR, for positional head tracking it needs the base stations unless they do some heavy guesswork. Not impossible, but unlikely. That has nothing to do with vorpX though, it’s just how the Index works.

Hi. I’m having great problems getting games to hook. I’m trying Detroit-Become Human (from Steam) and it only hooks about less than 5% of the time. I’ve tried all the hook helpers and alternative hooking. All these fail but on the very odd occasion it works so I go back and try it again and it fails without me changing anything. I’ve also been having this exact same problem on Stray (from Microsoft store) and Senua’s Sacrifice 1 (PC Game Pass). Robocop (from Steam) seems a little bit more lucky. The only game it seems to work for is Ori and the Wisps (PC Game Pass)(works 90% of the time). I am only using Windows Defender. Do you think AMD Adrenalin and Ryzen Master could be making it hard to hook with Vorpyx? I can’t think anything else. It is a shame because I’m about give up on Vorpyx. Can anyone help? Thank you

    I tried it. It’s amazing !

One of the best profile and best game.

I works perfectly (full VR G3D 6dof with perfect animations / immersion once FOV & resolution configured).

The camera is already partially and perfectly decoupled from moves in the base game so it feels very natural, like if you were in the main character body.

Indeed the game works in full VR at launch whithout touching anything (it’s possible to add extra FOV in the VorpX menu). I didn’t even know VorpX was able to do that.

But I have a performence problem with DirectVR in this game (my fans are going crazy so I had to disable it). When I change the FOV myself in the game’s files, the game is very optimized (I can play in full VR G3D with 3840×2880 resolution and max graphics and the PC stay cool).

    It works perfectly this way.

I prefer 120 FOV for now. It feels like beeing in the game.

    HUD can be resized.

The texture enhancement slider is surprisingly locked even in G3D but this may be intentionnal.
I use ClarityFX and Sharpness and the game is already quite enhanced this way.

    —-

This game is relatively hard to launch on Win11.

I had to buy it again on Steam (I already had the original collector edition from 2006) for 5 euros.

Then I had to fix the large adress memory problem (there are a lot of easy solutions : using LAA or NTCore 4GB patch or editing mm.exe with an HEX editor).

I used the TNG Patcher to get the extra FOV after the ballista (before I just had to bind FOV in [game_directory]/mm/cfg/config.cfg like that : bind “UPARROW” “+forward;sv_cheats 1;fov 120;viewmodel_fov 120”)

I used this launch parameters in Steam :
    -width 3840 -height 2880 -dxlevel 90 -heapsize 2097152 -novid +datacachesize “128”

-novid wasn’t mandatory for me (videos are working).

Launching the game (and VorpX if needed) with admin rights at least one time is useful to save the graphics settings for good.

There are mods for this game but I recommand configuring the game without them at least once.
Be careful : installing mods may be more difficult with the Steam version.

    Hi,

Using PC with Valve Index, no VR controllers or Xbox type controller. So trying to use keyboard and mouse.
On starting Fallout NV, things seem to start and hook in. Steam VR starts and the game boots to the start menu but is displayed in a window to the left. In the centre is a panel with a couple of hints and to the right is some more help in another panel.
Only Vorpx functions appear to respond to any keystrokes or mouse in the headset.
Mouse disappears outside of any Vorpex function or panel.
There is no way to do anything outside of Vorpx fuctions at this point. Game is displayed on my regular monitors, partially across two monitors. Alt-Tab works, sort of, to get out of VR, but mouse is gone, keyboard sort of works outside of VR. I have to log out or reboot to get mouse functionality back.

Plugged in an Xbox controller to see if that would make a difference, but no luck.

Note, I do not know if this is specific to the game, as this is the only game I’m using it for. It used to work years ago and I’m only just revistiing this game after quite some time.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

That’s not necessary at all. vorpX matches the FOV perfectly to your headset FOV automatically. You gain nothing from doing that manually except more work.

Hey there! I also use the stereo mode a lot, especially for games that really benefit from the depth perception. I agree, a hotkey for toggling it would be a massive time-saver. Imagine quickly switching it on and off while playing something fast-paced like Snow Rider 3D! Having to navigate the menu every time definitely breaks the flow. Hopefully, there’s a configuration file we can tweak or a hidden command line argument to achieve this. Good question!

I’m definately not seeing a “Focal Offset” option so I do believe it’s not turning on expert settings for some reason. This are the settings I see:

    View post on imgur.com

MAYBE RELEVANT INFO: My headset is an Oculus Rift S. The base profile is the base UE3 profile. I had to check “use alternative hooking method” for vorpx to attatch correctly to the game.

NOTE: The game DOES NOT support looking arround with mouse and keyboard/gamepad, it’s a fixed camera, that’s the limitation I want to solve. Since translation is working even tho the game also doesn’t let you move (You basically just move the gun with a fixed camera) I thought maybe it’s possible with yaw/pitch as well? I know things will break and stuff and that’s okay, I’m ready to vomit or hold my head in one location if I need to I don’t mind. I’m determined to make it work if at all possible, I’m ready to fail if not.

So is there an expert setting I can use for this similar to how translation was achieved? And also what about the expert settings not working, why could that be? Thank you for the assistance!

That explained everything, thanks! Basically, I had to change some connection settings on the headset and load games through it, rather than load games then cast to the headset. Much appreciated, thanks again!

The expert settings toggle just affects a handful of settings in the vorpX menu and the config app that can severely break stuff if used unwisely. They are definitely visible when you checked the box in the config app. If you want to be extra sure you can check whether after clicking ‘More 3D Settings’ with G3D enabled you have a settings named “Focal Offset”. That’s one of the extra settings.

As far as your actual issue is concerned: that’s fairly weird, with default settings head yaw/pitch is what should always work before anything else. Check these things:

    1. The game must let you look around with the mouse.
    2. On the head tracking page in the vorpX menu head tracking must be on and sensitivity must be > 0
    3. If you use a gamepad, for many games the ‘XBox Gamepad Override’ option must be on. Why? A lot of games can’t handle simultaneous mouse/gamepad input. If you want to play such games with your gamepad and mouse emulation head tracking, you need the override, which enabels a built-in gamepad > mouse/kb mapper.

I’m creating a custom profile for the game Gal’Gun Double Peace. (It’s a weeb game). The main challenge with this game is that it’s a shooter on rails. I know I know ‘Why do I even want to play this in VR?’ and all that, but I really want to. I created a new profile based on the Unreal Engine 3 Profile (Because this game is made in UE3), fixed FOV and Geometry 3D first. So far so good. Then I turn on all head trtacking settings to allow Vorpx to let me move the camera with my headset even tho the game doesn’t allow you to move the camera at all. It worked for the most part:

    – I can walk to the left and to the right and the camera works properly.
    – I can move down (crouch) and up and the camera works properly.
    – I can walk forward and backwards and the camera follows properly.
    – I can rotate my head in the roll direction (Move my ear closer to my shoulder) and it works properly
    – Rotating my head to the left and to the right does NOTHING (Camera keeps pointing forward in the game).
    – Rotating my head up and down does NOTHING (Camera keeps pointing forward as well)

I feel like I’m so close but I couldn’t find settings to fix the 2 rotation axiss I’m missing. I googled online and it seems that there are aditional settings under “Expert Settings” so I turned it on but no new settings appeared. I also turned on the G3D Shader thing and it also does nothing (I pressed SHIFT END like the tutorial said). It also seems to be ignoring the “Show did you know hints at start” because it keeps showing me the start screen every time I open the game.

I did need to use “Use alternative hooking method for vorpX to hook to the game properly.

Why can’t I see the expert settings? Please Help!

That means that vorpX couldn’t initialize the VR headset, which is a fairly severe issue. Most likely something is messed up on your system.

You *might* be able to deal with that by selecting a different headset type in the vorpX config app.

If e.g. you are using a Quest and currently have selected SteamVR/OpenXR, try native Meta Link instead. Most headsets should work with SteamVR, Meta headsets work best with Meta Horizon Link.

Sidenote in case you happen to use OpenXR while SteamVR is set as your system’s OpenXR runtime: Valve knowingly violates the OpenXR spec by not providing a 32 bit version of their OpenXR implementation. So Valve’s OpenXR cannot work with older 32 bit games.

I was able to get Subnautica working right away, no problem, but every other game I try either launches straight away in VR cinema mode or gives me an error message saying VorpX isn’t working, then it launches in VR cinema mode. Every time I get that error message it says the same thing, Error Code 302, but I can’t find anything telling me what that means. I can’t get ANY other games to work with it, what should I do?

So… Anyway to get this running at higher resolutions? Anything above 1080p and you get those general protection fault crashes to desktop. I tried running the DX11 patch with the widescreen fix/mod and no dice.

Confirmed, one of those fix-one-thing-break-something-else-changes… Until this gets addressed please start vorpX as administrator, which should resolve the issue.
