Hi I’m hoping someone can help. I’m trying VorpX for the first time with Tron 2.0 with a Meta Quest 2 and link cable. When I start VorpX desktop, I’m sent into a black void where I can see my two Quest controllers. Once I start Tron 2.0, I’m sent into a tutorial/hint screen where one of my controllers inevitably disappears. Sometimes the left one goes, sometimes the right. Depending which hand I still have access to, I can sometimes use the right trigger to move to the next hint, but after that, no button seems effective at all. Any help is appreciated. I desperately want to be in Tronland

    Hi,
I had same issue “Finishing installation” stays forever.
Read this post and it helped me.
So just for other people who will have such issue:
    1. Install app, but “Finishing installation” stays.
    2. Go to folder with installed Vorpx, run one of exe files to register vorpx (vorpControl.exe I think, or other, dont remember exactly)
    3. Ask registration key by email, then register app.
    4. Restart PC, install app the second time, all will be good.

    for Ralf
good that we have this workaround, but it will be better if you can fix it :) thank you
    (Disabling Antivirus did not help)

    26/01/13 | vorpX 25.1.5 has been released

Another maintenance update. Addresses a couple of input glitches, comes with a rewritten host-exit that better handles exit crashes with Meta’s OpenXR since a recent Meta Link update, makes alternative hooking usable for more games, fixes a rare DX9 issue, has a bunch of profile fixes/updates and more.

Click here for a list of noteworthy changes

    • vorpX: keys wrongly blocked in some DirectInput games (e.g. Fallout 3/NV).
    • vorpX: the tracking center hotkey also ensures foreground and input focus.
    • vorpX: ALT+TAB and back could occasionally confuse key state tracking.
    • vorpX: fixed cursor clipping in some older games (e.g. Metro 2033).
    • vorpX: headset audio device switching did not work anymore.
    • vorpX: D3D9: better unhooked surfaces handling, e.g. Venetica ALT+TAB crash.
    • vorpX: improved host exit, cleaner in various games and with Meta OpenXR.
    • vorpControl: folder exclude handles symlinks (e.g. latest EA Desktop).
    • vorpControl: minimize runtime windows option supports latest Quest Link.
    • vorpControl: alternative hooking working for more games.
    • Cyberpunk 2077: improved sync between mod-portion and vorpX.
    • Tron 2.0: .ini changes weren’t applied anymore since a while.
    • Dishonored 2: scalable HUD added.
    • Dragon Age Origins: deal with GOG version 2-core lock.
    • Dragon Age II: deal with GOG version 2-core lock.
    • Farming Simulator 25: Fixed a Z3D issue related to vehicle mirror count.

I don’t see any good information on how to set this up that isn’t 4 years old. So I tried installing the vorp app that was sent to me in a zip. It hung at 100% for 10+ minutes. I had to kill it. Looks like it extracted everything ok, but when I run link for the quest, turn quest 3 on, run kingdom come deliverance it says attemppting to attach. It comes up with debugging methods. So I installed the hook helper. This did not help. I wnet into the profiles and selected teh kindome come deliverance profile and hit apply. Tried again and a no go. I tried using virtual desktop and it looks like it started to bring it up in 3d and no go. I was however able to get the kingdom come deliverance to show up as a desktop app using the desktop viewer, but that’s not what I paid 60 or whatever dollars for….. I can do that with virtual desktop or through quest link. Any suggestions?

FYI I was able to get media playback to work, the key is having VorpX and Meta Link both open before connecting the headset. Still, playback controls on the pads themselves do not work, the playback controls in the VorpX menu seem to work okay though.

Desktop Viewer is still broken, either a black screen or frozen high contrast desktop display that has to be force closed.

Occasionally I will get a very high contrast desktop (seems like it’s showing the virtual display VorpX is set to make by default) but it will scrunch a little looking like it’s aspect ratio is being smushed slightly then it freezes until i close Desktop Viewer.

I also have very spotty playback with Media Player Classic, last time I tried it it loaded the virtual environment and i heard the video audio but the screen was stuck black. The first time I tried it the video and audio played but I couldn’t control anything, I could press the “spacebar” bind on the controller to pause the video but then I couldn’t unpause it or do anything else.

On a Quest 3 I just cannot get the Desktop Viewer to work, the closest I get is a black screen with a stuttering mouse cursor that I can’t control. I’ve tried turning my monitor off and turning off my HDMI soundbar, it still doesn’t work. I’ve tried it using Meta Link and SteamVR and neither function properly. Cyberpunk 2077 more or less works fine so I know the software and my setup is good, it’s just desktop viewer is bugging out.

I recently got back to playing Fallout New Vegas (last played Feb ’24). However, it appears that vorpX now disables the “E” and the “ESC” keys. No other keys seem to be affected. I can run the game without vorpX and all the keys work fine. I can also run other games with vorpX, like Skyrim SE and Fallout 4, and all the keys work fine. I use MO2, so I tried FONV native (no MO2 and no mods) and I got the same results as running with MO2. That is, the keys work fine without vorpX. But, those two keys are disable with vorpX running. I have done all the noob fixes too, like rebooting the computer, etc.

In FONV, I can remap the action key “E” to something else (like “P”) and the action key works as planned. However, I can’t remap the ESC (menu) key and it is critical to game play. vorpX works fine itself displaying great VR once up and running. It’s just that I can’t use the E or ESC keys.

I have had vorpX for many, many years and used it with many, many games, and this issue is a head scratcher. Is there a different hook/method I should try? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Ralf, it isn’t a antivurius problem, it’s just that the installation windows freezes at the end of the installation process and never finalizes…. And if i force close it , and then try to run the vorpx Deskotp exe nothing happens

Strange, my post is not there anymore.
Advice was to use such games with VorpX desktop viewer in SBS mode.

    OMG It works!

Playing in VR with immersive screen on means I can play VR seated and because I can use my quest controllers to emulate a Gamepad, I no longer get cramp from having to grip a game pad. I wonder if this means I can play traditional Gamepad games through the desktop app that vorpx has but use my quest controllers?

I’m so glad that I got Dishonored 2 and this game on the steam sale

Well, the game can handle ultra wide and has an own setting for aspect ratio. I am very happy with 3440×1440 in imersive screen mode (desktop viewer) with my real monitor which has a native 3440×1440 resolution. I render only a little bit more to the left and righth than I can see. This way, turnig my head a bit doesn’t break immersion as the screen edge doesn’t come into my view.

Only when using virtual monitor I have the issue with the compressed image. Maybe it is the fault of the game, I will see this when trying the next game in a few weeks. But on the other hand, there is obviously some difference between the real and the virtual monitor that made the game to behave wrong. The only difference I see is the default resoulution.

    Hmmm ….
    1) virtual monitor is set to 3440×1440
    2) VorpX doesn’t hook the game. I use Desktop viewer
    3) Game setting is fullscreen 3440×1440 with 21:9 aspect ratio. Exclusive full screen or window makes no difference

Still the game image is compressed with black bars left and right.
It looks like the virtual monitor is “physically” 3440 wide and the game produces a 3440 wide image, but the monitor or Win1dows 10, or Nvidia DLSS re-scales it to 2560 width because that is the monitor default.

I do not see what I could possibly doing wrong and my only option is to not use virtual monitor.
Would be intersting if other users have (no) issues when using virtual monitor with a non-default resulution.

BTW: For power users it would be enough to have a ini-file setting for the default resolution (if this makes a difference).

The virtual display is just a display like any other. It doesn’t have any say in how a game handles ultrawide resolutions. If you let vorpX hook into the game, you have to adjust the resolution in the game, not on the Windows desktop. In some games that cap/link their resolution list or aspect ratio to the current desktop res, you may have to do both.

Every monitor reports a default res to Windows, 2560×1440 is the virtual display’s default res because that’s a reasonable choice for most current VR headsets. Actual monitors usually report their highest supported res as default, but that doesn’t really make sense for a virtual display that can support up to 8K. Making the virtual display’s default res configurable for power users is already on the requested feature list, but not an ultra high priority, so that might take a while.
