RalfKeymasterBefore writing my original reply I checked the performance for you – in the games you mentioned. No issue at all.
Also even if the new features and gazillion of other inprovements in the free 25.1 update don’t interest you: you don’t want to use 21.3 anymore for two simple reasons alone: 1. DX12 games only show a black screen on newer nVidia drivers, 2. 64bit DX9 games actually do run at half the FPS in 21.3 on Windows 11 because a Windows 11 update last year broke vorpX’s fast DX9 capture for 64bit Dx9.
BTW: safe to say that 25.1.2 is the most stable vorpX ever. Literally months of work were spent on fixing low level stuff that had been on the backburner for ages alone, as well as on hardening against quite arcane potential issues.

AnatolijParticipantAnd another important note: people aren’t reporting poor performance in the new version for a simple reason: they simply have nothing to compare it to, since most people don’t back up previous versions like I do. So I have something to compare it to and the option to roll back to an earlier version. The only thing that really irritates me is that this blatant automatic update can’t be disabled. Is it really that hard to disable the automatic update option ?

AnatolijParticipantGreetings Ralf. I just encountered a serious performance issue with the latest version of VorpX. Specifically, with DX9 and even DX11. Example: In The Witcher and The Witcher 2, with the latest version, I get 30-60FPS out of 90. But with version 21.3.5, The Witcher 1 runs at a stable 90FPS, while in Witcher 2 70-90FPS. The same with The Darkness II. With the latest version, I get 30-70FPS out of 90, but with version 21.3.5, I get a stable 90FPS. How can this be? Why does the new version have such serious performance issues, especially on a pre-high-end PC? And how can I disable this blatant automatic update that only ruins everything? I want to enjoy the game at a stable 90-120FPS with version 21.3.5, instead of constant lag and low FPS with the latest version.

dimensionaldudeParticipantJust an update: I completely reinstalled my OS and this is still happening. Following the troubleshooting advice, in the vorpService.log it says the following over and over when trying to launch the desktop viewer:
ERR: createProcessAsUserWithAdminRights: retrieving the excution token failed: -3
It seems like something on my system is preventing it from launching. Again, I should have full admin rights to launching everything. Is there some Windows service the virtual monitor depends on to launch or something? I’m low on ideas of what to do here.

IroquoisPliskinParticipantJust wanted to chime in and piggyback off the OP, Ralf Ihave been thinking lately that i appreciate all your work and I remember you saying that the updates cost you time and you were thinking of monetizing updates. Nothing in life is free and I believe this software is worth paying fees for in future if need be, just hope it doesn’t become the deterrent.
Best wishes

RalfKeymasterYesterday’s profile database update ‘only’ contained updates for some shader definitions that got broken by game updates, nothing related to your issue. If you encounter something like that again, keep the three options mentioned above in mind.

invertendoParticipantDid you issue an update? The wheel is working today, as well as head tracked mouse look! Vorpx only prompted me for a game database update, which I did.
The game lets you use the mouse to look around while driving with a wheel and vorpx is able to use that. I restarted the game a couple of times to confirm it wasn’t a fluke.

jazbanterParticipantRalf: Huge thanks the recent updates! The virtual monitor capability alone is a game changer and I’m amazed how well it works for new titles that refuse to latch (e.g. ARC Raiders) and old titles that have ceased to latch over time (e.g. KCD II).
Any chance you could add an option to specify the width of the virtual screen without fixed ratio restrictions? 4096 x 2160 is my go to, 5120 x 2160 at 21:9 is as close as I can get now without sacrificing height, and it’s a tad too much for my rig.
Thanks!

ChimatsuParticipantI have exactly the same problem with Horizon Zero Dawn Forbbiden West with Death Stranding profile. Z-normal was working perfectly before the recent updates.

in forum General vorpX Discussion
BuzbeeParticipantI have tried a few emulators that have support/plugins for sbs/ou which can be used with the vorpx desktop viewer.
Rpcs3 – PS3 (games with 3D support only)
Citra – 3DS games
Dolphin – GameCubeI have also heard of
PCSX-Reloaded – pS1 games
PCSX2 – ps2 gamesAre there any others?
Would anyone like to do a quick set-up tutorial for any of the emulators for 2025?
PCSX2 no longer does plugins so it could use an update with current version.

markus3776ParticipantThanks for the update, Ralf. The performance and visuals are significantly better than in the old version. Unfortunately, the weapon handling settings in Fallout 4 aren’t saved. No matter what you set there, it’s always set to Auto Hide after a game restart. This can also be checked with the Last Saved button.

RalfKeymasterTo a degree your mileage may certainly vary, and as said above, VD may work well in other cases, not so when used with vorpX however unfortunately. Both simply don’t play well together. That’s all.
With vorpX VD introduces wild lag (OpenXR), heavy performance issues in some games, as in FPS almost half of what it should be (OpenXR and SteamVR), upside down controllers since vorpX updated to OpenXR 1.1 (OpenXR) and other minor issues.
I didn’t say VD doesn’t work well in general, I wouldn’t even know that. I can say with certainty though that in case of vorpX Quest Link objectively is the (far) better option. At least half the issues you reported here stem from using VD + vorpX, it takes you only a couple of mouse clicks to fix them right away.

RalfKeymaster@ gawky: Ideally please no “me too” posts below replies that contain solutions or fix announcements. Thanks! Makes life easier for everyone here and in every other forum on the planet. :)
Just a heads-up that I could pinpoint two potential issues with the game, using the demo. One can cause a crash directly at start on CPUs with >12 cores and another one can cause a crash when loading a map.
Both issues are addressed, so the game should work fine under all circumstances after the next maintenance update. No date set yet, but shouldn’t take too long.
Oct 4, 2025 at 10:30pm #222240In reply to: Vorpx Virtual Monitor is not working
RalfKeymasterOn some PCs the vorpX service can’t handle the virtual monitor due to fairly convoluted Windows access rights issues. I implemented a fallback method for affected configurations in the meantime. Will come with the next maintenance update. Until then manually enabling like you did is the right workaround.
