MrGeddingsParticipanti agree with you. I honestly think hes being a dick. I mean you dont annouce some awesome cool driver that will make a library of games work with it and then come out with some awesome cool beta previews for people and then stop updating yoru website. 3 months he hasnt updated his blog. 3 months.
i dont think its vaperware judging by the fact a beta actually is out to “the select few”
its just hes locked himself up in some dark hole and hes in his little world and it will come out when he “magically” decides it will.
all i got from him in an email near the start of the month (thanks by the way for ignoring my past two messages and only emailing me back that one time)
is that it will be out “well before” the consumer version.
whatever the hell that means.
release the damn thing already. if its in beta version thats prob good enough for us!
THIS IS FOR A DEVELOPMENT KIT IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE PERFECT RATHER THEN DOING EVERYTHING BEHIND CLOSED DOORS WHY DONT YOU LET PEOPLE HELP BE PART OF THE DEVELOMMENT PROCESS BY HAVING THEM BUY THE EARLY VERSOIN AND PROVIDE FEEDBACK AND YOULL GET MONEY FROM IT TOO!
whatever. folks this is how NOT to do a oculus rift driver. dont annouce how awesomely kool it will be and provide nice beta previews and then just totally not give a (pardon me) fuck. about your “fan base”.
which honestly pretty much everyone who owns a Rift would be interested in this.
but whatever. im sure it will come out when he “magically” decides it is “ready”.
though i wonder what yard stick he is trying to mesure up to for it to be “ready”.
thats the problem with programs. they could be developed forever.. but theres a point you need to come to when you decide hey..it might be a great time to release it now.
whatever.
your a dick for posting all that cool info about it then not even bothering to update the site or have ANy timeframe whatsoever over it
but whatever. well at least you arnt going to half ass it like the guy who made the perception drivers so.
but theres a middle ground on one hand you dont want to make a product that only supports a few games and doesnt work the “best” but on the other hand you dont want to take FOREVER and leave people in the dark of your progress too.;
ugh.
oh well. its his loss too because hes just missing out on the money he could be making right now from it.
and thats the stupid part its a lose lose for both of us , him and us the longer he waits!
and he risks another company like tridef coming out with a better solution. they told me they have dev kits but arnt willing to annouce anything yet as im sure they are waiting to have things working well.
think about it. they already have a side by side 3d driver for games with it (that works with i think like 800 games) al they have to do is figure out how to do prewarping and head tracking and.
they could release a product (as they are a bigger company and not just one person) that could blow away Vorpx.
so yeah.
whatever.
and those beta previews were freaking MOTNHS ago. since then no one on youtube or any other site has posted anything else more about it
its like maybe he told them to stop talking about it
roadtoVR was supposed to post a update on the user interface and stuff too which they never did.
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH VORPX?
ARE YOU EVEN STILL WORKING ON IT? IS IT EVER COMING OUT? if you decided to say the hell with it , you sure as fuck better at least release the beta verions thats all im gonna say.
SOMEONE WITH THE BETA VERSION PLEASE LEAK IT ON PIRATEBAY OK? THANK YOU!

HappyHimitsuParticipantI have to agree. While I don’t think that berating Ralph is at all the right thing to do, I do think his choice to keep it closed and sell it is somewhat contradictory to the way he is treating his future clientele.
It is his right to hold off on a release (who knows, perhaps there was a deal breaker of a bug in there and he needs to rewrite half the code?) but leaving ‘average joe/jane’ in the dark does nothing to help his credibility towards the future, and he should be letting people know if there are problems. This isn’t some console fanboy crowd that are going to be buying his drivers, it is going to be filled with PC savvy users who know better.
Perhaps he is sitting on a deal to buy out his code, or perhaps he just isn’t very good with people and suffers from some form of anxiety disorder and all of this attention is getting to him; it happens.
Give your people an update Ralf. You would be surprised how quickly an angry mob can be turned into adoring fans when you do things right. :)

MrGeddingsParticipantOk seriously you are starting to tick me off sir. its insane that you are taking FOREVER to release it because apparently it has to be perfect..even though the first users for it will be with the DEVELOPMENT KIT! therefor we dont CARE if its not perfect!!!! jebus fricking christ. It just really upsets and frustrates me.. your software is badly needed because lets be honest right now that many things to try with the rift i did most of the demos and the only real game i can play on it is minecraft as i dont like the perception driver settings and half life 2 i rather play it without the hud but you gotta freaking enter two console commands everytime you load a map (and thats not easy to do with the rift).
i got my hopes up thinking oh wow at least world of warcraft is going to work with it using a mod someone did.
it doesnt..well not for me. maybe because my moniter cant run the super low resolution apparently required by the mod. corse it doesnt help that you have litterarly like 42 steps to get the damned thing working and even after all that it didnt for me….not their fault though but if they had a coder like you who could simply inject a driver instead of relying on TWO other programs .to get it to “render” right.
(again not really their fault i suppose though i strongly suggest they come up with a better solution in the future at least…)
but seriously come on release the damn thing already. we NEED it. and hey we are willing to PAY you for it.
hell. ill say it. it pisses me off!
you annouced it before the rifts started shipping you told us then “ohh oooh it will be out around when the rifts start shipping”
YEAH RIGHT!! then hyou go and post a nice little interview and have Road to VR do a nice preview of Vorpx like what 2 months ago? and since then NOTHING?
really?? i mean come on..how freaking long is it going to take you? my guess is another company like tridef or something is going to come up with a solution before your slow ass does.
the fact that you freaking dont even BOTHER now to update the blog here AT ALL in what THREE frigging months. shows you really dont give a flying fudge about the people here who want to be a part of it.
God just what we need for this …some anal developer whos locked in his room in la la land taking FOREVER to release a damn product thats right now for a DEV KIT vr headset.
GOD! it PISSES me off! how long is it going to be? another 3 months?
what really rubs my skin is the fact that you gave out (free im sure) nice little beta versions to “special people” who have had it for MONTHS now but for those who are willing to PAY YOU for the damn thing oh no screw that….no we cant get in the beta…not even if we ask. no sorry screw us huh?
whatever. you should have had a beta program like what they are doing on steam now where you pay for beta at a discount and then get the full version too
that way people who really want it wont have to wait months and months and months and months and months. and that way you could take all the time you wanted in the beta.
UGH. whatever. gotta say development for the rift has been pretty slow lately. there was a bunch of cool demos and stuffs the last few months but i dunno the last few weeks its like been silent. i guess there busy working on their projects but we NEED VORPX!
god id almost be willing to pay 100 bucks right now to get it JUST to have some more content to use with the rift!
hell thats what im doing right now with Unity. because of the lack of content.. i bought a 90 buck asset pack (was a nice one too) to have something to work with
and im kinda using it as an alternative to garrys mod because that idiot (ok he has a great mod but..still this pisses me off too) decides to say that it has -vr mode support in the beta and HE DIDNT EVEN BOTHER TO TEST IT (YEAH ITS A BETA BUT STILL..AT LEAST if your going to enable a vr mode make sure it doesnt freaking crash the program every single time!)
so ive been trying to learn to import other models which ironically you most likely could get in garrys mod anyways.. so i can make my little scenes and its may cost me more as i might get some other programs to import more stuff into it.
but whatever. the rift is so awesome it just begs to have more content for it. and i dont mind paying for it if its cool.
but yeah…take all the damn sweet time you want. honestly wish someone would have uploaded a beta versoin of it on pirate bay or something so that those wanting to try it out actualy could as honestly a middle finger to you for annoucing this wonderful great awesome driver that now apparently has 80 game supported
AND TAKING FOREVER TO RELEASE IT AND RELEASING A FREE BETA TO A “SELECT” GROUP OF PEOPLE AND THEN COMPLETELY IGNORING US THE PEOPLE WHO ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT!
sorry. people may think im being an ass for posting this.
but COME ON. maybe if enough people bitch about it you’ll finally decide “ooh gee duh maybe i should go ahead and release the beta for people who want to buy it”.
sorry this sounds negitive but apparently not like anyone ever posts that muuch here anyways considering that he has all but abandoned this blog.
RELEASE VORPX ALREADY. HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HAVE TO BEG FOR YOU TO DO SO:?
ugh.deleate this post if you want i dont care just sick of waiting.

museumsteveParticipantmuseumsteve: That’s fine, we know that. But when someone comes and tells you that he is developing a commercial software which would fill a big gap for Oculus users, than the person seemingly evoraporates into thin air, people get pissed off. It would take no more than one minute (!) for Ralf to make a short announcement every week where the development is heading. And unless he is trapped on the top of the Mount Everest without electricity and internet, I don’t see why he is unable to give us SOMETHING. Is this a huge request??? From future customers??? Damn…
I agree it’s frustrating but at the same time there’s something like maybe 10,000 rift’s out there now? and yet there’s not streams of people complaining about the delay.
It’s interesting because I’ve just read a statement (this morning) by someone at Kunos Studios who are making Assetto Corsa racing sim. They constantly update their fans/future customers with developments and new features, licences etc..and yet they get abused and told they’re just teasing all the time. It seems whichever way you go it’s deemed wrong by someone.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been looking forward to vorpX since day one, as each week goes by more official support is getting announced and with War Thunder already done, iRacing support next week, pCARS very soon (option is in this weeks build) I’ll only have to wait for rFactor2 and I wont need vorpX myself..
I just decided to go elsewhere and enjoy the many other demos and apps while waiting for full gaming in VR :)Jul 19, 2013 at 9:44am #2003In reply to: Pay now / Alpha or Beta version?
MrGeddingsParticipantthe fact also that you cant even bother to proide any more blog post updates on your progress on this site but instead post it on other sites shows that you really dont give a crap about us … too. i mean i KNOW your not working on the thin 24/7 ……at the very least as i have requested quite a few times….you could give us a updated list of the “80 games” that work with it or something. the fact that you didnt even mention world of warcraft works with the beta even though a german site showed it off.
i mean seriously you want to make a product show a little respect to the people who want to be a part of it….ugh……dont even know why you have this site up honestly just deleate this whole thing and then make a simple page that says “vorpx will come out when I say it comes out and i coudnt give a crap about you ”
lol……..well whatever. least i have unity hopefully by the time my trial ends in 4 months vorpx will be out
yeah right. should have came out 4 months ago.
Jul 12, 2013 at 4:03pm #1982In reply to: Pay now / Alpha or Beta version?
Susu986ParticipantThe torrent might be a little harsh, but otherwise I have to completely agree with MrGeddings. The fact that Ralf is not releasing any updates, nor there is any communication whatsoever is distasteful. Why would it be so hard to release a daily update of a few words like ‘Today is was optimizing the code for Flight Simulator X’, etc. Hell, we don’t even no if the project is still a go, or not… As someone pointed out Ralf could be even dead by now, it wouldn’t make a difference.
And even though I don’t have my Rift yet, this complete lack of communication is really pissing me off.
I also don’t see the point why VorpX is not relased yet. As we could all see, it already works with many games, and besides, no one ever heard of software update??? Vorpx will need to updated nevertheless when the consumer verison comes out, to support 6 DOF tracking. Or at least I guess so. So, if software update will be necessary than what harm would be done by releasing it now, even strictly as a work-in-progress version? Look at Arma 3! The guys released the Alpha version on Steam, and thousands of people bought it already. The game is in Beta stage now, and all Alpha users updated to Beta, as they will be updated for the final version as well, when time comes. Meanwhile they are releasing DAILY updates in a few sentences, so people now what’s going on. And yeah, they already have a ton of money from it, and the gamers are happy, despite the fact that they have paid for and using a yet unfinished product.
The situation with VorpX is really disappointing, and I don’t know if we can count on it, or it will never be developed. I don’t know, because the only thing I get is complete silence.Jul 11, 2013 at 10:02pm #1977In reply to: Pay now / Alpha or Beta version?
MrGeddingsParticipantOk Im sorry a lot of us are getting pretty frustrated here. I call for a petition that you release the beta already. IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE PERFECT!
this is a DEV KIT anyways we DONT EXPECT it to be perfect, you dont need to polish it so much that it has to be a “consumer level product” looks like what you have now is still way better then the Perception drivers. it really is frustrating. you give out a few free betas to a few people but the real people who want it most who are willing to PAY to have it even in beta stage you just ignore.
and honestly its also poor that you stopped doing ANY updates whatsoever on your website it makes us feel like you really dont care about us and that your just locked in your little world and you’ll only release it when you “decide” its ready.
The Oculus Rift has VERY FEW actual games to really play on it right now..and yeah its a dev kit but a lot of us arnt game devs we are just passionate about the idea so we supported it. Having an instant selection of 80 games to work with the RIft would be a huge plus, even if it wasnt perfect.
and as i said many times at the Very LEAST could you at least update the games list with the 80 games so far you have planned to work with it?
your commication is even worse then Oculus was at times and i just dont understand why we are pretty much begging you to release it even in beta form and we are willing to PAY you to do so……why you refuse.
and at leas for Gods sake give us a release date estimate you TOLD us that it would come out shortly after rifts started shipping, its been MONTHS.. and you only had a beta preview over at ReadtoVR a mmonth ago but nothing else since.
PLEEASE RELEASE IT already!!!!!! because otherwise whenever you “decide” to come out with it my first comment would be
freaking christ its about damn time!
either that or someone who has the beta should leak it to a torrent if you ask me since this guy is not going to bother to let us have acesss to the beta even if were willing to pay for it then i dont mind paying for the full thing once you “decide” to actually come out with it.
redilicous ..and it sucks for YOU too because you are not making any money right now…if you released the beta now you could be making an actual profit from it.,
so the ONLy logical reason i can get is for you not to release it simply because you are just a super perfectionist who WILL NOT release anything uless you think its”perfect”
just great…..just who we needed to develop this thing……..release the damn thing already. this is ridiculous.
Jun 27, 2013 at 2:19am #1915In reply to: Pay now / Alpha or Beta version?
GrimDarkDarrelParticipantAt least post a news update. Last update I’ve read suggested vorpx would be out in June and there’s hasn’t been a blog update since April. That’s pretty weak.
Jun 18, 2013 at 6:10pm #1881In reply to: Pay now / Alpha or Beta version?
MrGeddingsParticipantI agree. But then again considering the whole customs hold up and not sure how long till i get my rift. VorpX actually might be released by the time i get mine lol. But seriously the problem is seems like the guy is a protectionist he rather not release the product even as a beta because hed be too afraid of the public saying ooh it has issues blah blah blah. When it seems to me its perfectly useable as it is right now even more so then the other drivers that alone to me seems worth it. at the very least would be nice if he at least release the names of the 80 games it now support and the fact that he rather share info on Road to VR instead of bothering to update this website at all (i mean come on if your going to have a blog of updates and then you just stop updating the blog …that really isnt very nice).
The fact that we have to go to another website to learn infomation about the drivers.
Please we are begging you and i dont understand why…release the drivers you said 3 months ago when the Rift started shipping you would release VorpX not long after the rifts started shipping and you got your kit……you got your kit near two months ago i really dont understand what the hold up is. Why not go ahead and let people pay for the beta? whats the harm in that? and it seems silly to not even do that because then at least you can start getting money in from your hard work…
“sighs”. always frustrating to wait for something like this when the person has “no idea” when it will be released. We’ll see…..
Jun 11, 2013 at 6:57am #1849In reply to: Pay now / Alpha or Beta version?
MrGeddingsParticipantwe’ll see. just would be nice to have “some” indication of when it will come out. but hey whatever. considering he hasnt bothered to update the website either which is a bit odd. i mean he has had nice blog updates for a bit then it just stops…. at the very very least you know a updated games list would be nice…
Jun 8, 2013 at 11:47pm #1759In reply to: Pay now / Alpha or Beta version?
MrGeddingsParticipantyeah it would make finical sence for you to release the beta for early buyers. a) youd start getting money in for your hard work so far and b) we could help test out some of the bugs or what and provide feedback. considering how many other software is going the “pay for beta…get full game” route…and the fact that you released the drivers to a few people already…just would be nice to have something….. “sighs”. I am not sure i like the idea of “when its done” I think its better to set a date. That way you have a goal and if you dont quite reach eveything you want at that date so what? just release it as a beta. its been nearly two months now :-(. ‘sighs”. really really frustrating for people who have been waiting and waiting and are willing to PAY YOU and you still yet have zero indication on when you may release it anytime soon…sighs. Could you at LEAST post an updated games list or something?
Jun 8, 2013 at 11:41pm #1757In reply to: vorpX – Pre-Release Thread
MrGeddingsParticipantsince there are 80 games supported now if your not going to release the software anytime “soon” be nice if you would release an updated game list…..
Jun 2, 2013 at 7:02pm #1666In reply to: Pay now / Alpha or Beta version?
RalfKeymaster@ MrGeddings : In terms of software development cycles 4 weeks is ‘extremely shortly’ after. ;) vorpX will be released as soon as it is ready for a public release. Rest assured that having something ready for you guys as fast as possible has high priority, that’s also the reason why website updates are a bit behind.
@ daniel, Valez: The introduction price will be $40, as announced in an previous interview – or 50 cent for each supported game, is that really that steep?. The $45 are a slight typo in the RoadToVR article.
