Hello,
I bought VorpX about an hour ago. The app does not launch. Either executable (config or control) crashes with no info if run as an administrator.

vorpConfig.exe run normally:
vorpX does not seem to be properly installed. Some files or folders appear to be missing.
Please reinstall the application.
vorpControl.exe run normally:
Sorry, vorpX encountered a critical error and cannot do its magic. :\
Try restarting the application. If the problem persists, reinstalling vorpX might help.

Apr 20, 2015 at 9:47pm #81399NakorParticipantTo save time here are some more facts about my situation:
– My Rift is up to date.
– My Direct X is up to date.
– I uninstalled my antivirus earlier today before even attempting to install VorpX. I am not running any antivirus at all at the moment.Apr 20, 2015 at 10:20pm #81400RalfKeymasterDo you use different users for admin/normal use?
If so, please give your normal user admin rights for the installation, afterwards you can change the rights back.
In such dual user scenario the installer would copy vital files to the admin user’s user dir. Making it impossible for the normal user to find the files.
Running vorpX as admin should generally be avoided. It’s only necessary for (old) games that require admin rights.
Apr 20, 2015 at 10:22pm #81401NakorParticipantI didn’t even think of that. Could I not also install as an admin?
Apr 20, 2015 at 10:29pm #81404RalfKeymasterIf you have your games installed for the normal user, the method described is the one you should use. As said above, if you install vorpX with your admin user the user files will be copied to the admin user’s user dir and aren’t available for the normal user.
Apr 20, 2015 at 10:30pm #81405NakorParticipantYeah sorry I realized that after I posted it. Just added admin rights. Going to try it now.
Apr 20, 2015 at 10:38pm #81407NakorParticipantOk it seems to be working now. Does this have something to do with the certification process? Windows can be pretty annoying sometimes. Thanks for the help.
Apr 20, 2015 at 10:44pm #81411RalfKeymasterGlad this is solved.
TBH I generally would advise against such a setup for a personal PC. Makes a lot of sense for corporate PCs when the normal user of the machine isn’t supposed to do certain things. But for a private machine you don’t really gain anything since UAC was introduced in Vista (except potential problems ;)). Not my call though, of course.
