    Hello,

I wanted to try out AC Unity in Vorpx. G3D depth works great but performance is very bad no matter the resolution.

    I normally play G3D 3rd person, immersive screen games (dx9) @ 3840×1600 72 fps or (dx11) @ 3440×1440 72fps no problem.

With AC Unity, even 1280×720 gives out around 35-50 fps at max, lowest seettings, no AA. 1920×1080 res sits around 15-20 fps max.

Is it something to do with Vorpx optimziation on this engine (anvil) ? Or am I missing something? People from 2019 seem to play this game no problem ?

I have a RTX 5080 so atleast I should be able to hit 60-72 fps.

    I don’t like Z3D on 3rd person games, please don’t suggest that.

    Any help on this? Thanks.

The game engine has an insane amount of D3D draw calls per frame, I think the highest I ever encounterd. Since draw calls are essentialy doubled with G3D and on top of that some work is done on the vorpX end per draw call, this is the absolute worst case scenario CPU wise. GPU doesn’t really matter much here. G3D performance in this game is CPU bound.

Try to reduce everything in the game’s graphics options that affects how much stuff is drawn on screen. View distance, NPC density, things like that.

BTW: Lot’s of work has been poured into micro-optimizing CPU performance in the last months, so the next vorpX will likely run a bit better in this scenario, but don’t expect wonders. AC:Unity’s engine just isn’t well suited for any draw call doubling stereo algorithm.

I already set everything as lowest it could go + 1280×720 resolution, the performance was still hanged around 30’s.

I guess I’ll have to pick another game or play it on Z3D.

    Thanks for the detailed explanation.

Isn’t this a Ubisoft / Anvil Engine game? I’ve been struggling with Ghost Recon Wildlands (Ubisoft \ Anvil Engine), but it is the game, so nothing really can be done. I’ve played it with 3840×2880 resolution because lowering the resolution does not really do anything in the problem parts of the game (the framerate drops the same).
