ParticipantHello everyone,
I have some issues with Black Mesa official profile in DirectVR. G3D isn’t working with game menu and launch screen, some flooded zone water effect and shadows seems broken.
There is also an issue with guns and hand out of scale (gigantic) i tried to use the hiding weapon option but it seems to doesn’t work as intended (only working on the shotgun). When i switch to play in Cinema mod with G3D hands and weapons are way too stretched!

KeymasterIf you happen to be on 24.1.0 please go back to the last regular vorpX build or vice versa.
Also for cinema/immersive screen mode you may have to disable automatic weapon handling on the DirectVR page of the menu. This feature currently garbles the image at camera FOVs lower than what vorpX sets in FullVR mode. Will be addressed in the next update.

ParticipantThanks Ralf. I switched to the last regular vorpx version and i don’t have stretched weapon anymore when i disable automatic weapon handling.
About menu issue with G3D the left eye render the menu and the right one the game. It seems to be the same kind of things for a few water zones like at surface level, left eye render transparent water and right one render shadow with reflection (black surface with reflection).
I still have hands and guns really out of scale, way too big.Oct 23, 2024 at 7:01pm #220572Ralf
KeymasterGames often render weapons at a different FOV than the rest of the world to make them look good on the monitor. That, besides moving the weapon out of sight unless you shoot, gets resolved by the auto weapon handling…
If the fully automated setup (usually manual tweaking causes more harm than good in highly automated profiles like this one) doesn’t work with either 23.1.5 or 24.1.0, wait until the next vorpX release. Maybe something changed recently.
I‘m sure it‘ll work in the next vorpX release though, I incidentally just tweaked the weapon handling stuff two or three weeks ago.

ParticipantOk something must have change, only the shotgun move out of sight. I am close to finish the game so i will keep on like this.

KeymasterI just checked with 23.1.5. Works perfectly fine here as far as I can tell. 24.1.0 is probably broken.
Do a factory reset (config app/trouble shooting) in the config app after going back to 21.3.5. Back in the game make sure to run the DirectVR scanner for 1:1 head tracking and FOV (check the hints vorpX displays in the top/left corner of the game window) and – VERY IMPORTANT – do not tweak anything manually except the game resolution. In highly automated DirectVR profiles like this one chances are very high that you do more harm than good with manual tweaks.

ParticipantI played Xen on G2, probably with v23, and I manually configured it, and in my opinion it worked very well in full VR.
I just had to set the FOV with console command and choose a 4:3 resolution (and unzoom of course).
Menu was not really practical with 3D enabled…But maybe it’s even better with DirectVR. What does it change exactly ?
