boxcatsParticipantThe title says it all. I purchased the software maybe an hour ago. I have spent this entire time doing nothing but fighting with it. I only use windows defender I do not use bloatware antivirus. I turned off Windows Defender. I checked to make sure 3.5 was in my windows 11 using the windows features app. I downloaded the software a second time. I attempted to install the newer updated version. I used multiple types of unzipping software. I turned it off and back on. I changed internet networks. I am 100% at a loss. I wanted this to play star citizen however I am feeling like I just lost my 40 dollars.
I’ve read through the last few years of answer to this issue to no avail. I am very confused at this point. Any help would be nice thank you.May 1, 2025 at 5:14am #221367
boxcatsParticipantActually I just figured it out. So nevermind!

ralstigParticipantWhat did you have to do?
I’m in a similar situation. (Even tried a hotspot, but no luck)May 9, 2025 at 1:15pm #221396
ralstigParticipantI was able to get it to work with a hotspot; had to disable all other connections. (In my case wired.)

VergornParticipantim trying to reinstall and its Download error , I don’t know what to do ?
any help please ?Jul 6, 2025 at 5:39am #221637
OvercastParticipantI had this issue as well. What worked for me was also using a mobile hotspot. I had to disable wifi on my phone so it used the phone network and disable the wired connection on my pc. At that point it worked. I’m not sure why so many of us cannot use our standard network setting. Of note, I have no antivirus other than window’s defender (which has worked to download this in the past on the same network but another computer).

irbanozParticipantThe last couple of posts in this thread got me thinking–I’ve also been having this issue and even requested a new copy of the Web Downloader, which gave the same error message. I turned my VPN on and the Web Downloader immediately worked and the software updated from 23.x to 25.x .

RalfKeymasterGlad you got it sorted. Temporarily switching to a VPN or using a phone as a temporary access point via USB/WiFi tethering is a good way around this issue whenever caused by some internet hiccup.

grnphrogParticipantSwitching to my phone Hotspot also worked for me.
This should be pinned to the top of this thread.Sep 15, 2025 at 10:38pm #222148
gcommonParticipantI had this same issue and the VPN fix worked for me.
