ParticipantYesterday I bought vorpX, first game that I wanted to try out in VR was FC3, but sadly it doesn’t seem to hook and thus fails to launch. It gets randomly stuck on “hooking to FC3” into “this takes a while” with suggested actions and then stops running, or the game stops running without those pop-up messages and after 30-60s goes directly to “failed to hook”.
– Quest 2
– Steam version, running through Ubisoft Connect
– Steam & Ubi overlays disabled
– Steam & Ubi don’t run as admin
– Tried running in DX9 & DX11 and resp. hook helpers
– Tried running vorpX as admin
– I have Far Cry 3 enabled for Large Address Aware because of the crashing problem, I haven’t tried disabling that, but I would assume that disabling the command that enables a crash-free experience would induce crashes again, thus making it a net-neutral option: it won’t make the game playable.
– No AV other than standard Windows Defender
– Tried Bioshock Infinite today and was basically a plug & play experience (Steam overlay enabled on that game btw)Idk where to go from here sadly. Any troubleshooting tips or obvious oversights I missed?

ParticipantUpdate: game is running fine.
Trying to trace my steps in case it might help someone in the future. Sadly I forgot what happened when exactly, but this is a rough timeline.– Disabled 2nd monitor
– Booted up using vorpX desktop shortcut (DX9 version) and got to loading screen, but got “error 201” message and thrown out
– Changed in-game setting (non-VR boot-up) to DX11, vorpX FC3 profile D3D11, vorpX desktop shortcut FC3 DX11, bootup succesfull, but only left lens works properly, right lens shows black box.
– Booted up through Steam dir. (FC3/bin/D3D11.exe), worked. Disabling Quest 2 audio in favor of normal headphones crashed the game, also in-game options say game is running on DX9 when I selected DX11 in-game before, ran DX11 shortcut and choose DX11 profile in vorpX.
– Boots up fine through Steam dir., not through Steam play button. As a general tip, when in-game change a vorpX setting (I forget which one and without VR I can’t access the options) from “fast” to “alt-safe” or “alt-fast”, I forget what it’s called and under which tab it is, but basically it removes the judder to enable smooth head-tracking. Last time vorpX still apparently overrides dx11 to dx9 when looking at in-game options, but the game boots up fine as dx11. I’m not tech savvy so idk what’s up with that. You’ll probaly also want to change FOV, cause I’m zoomed in so much I can barely see the minimap, but that’s for next time.
