    Hi Ralf,
Just wondering what the possibility of adding a free view mode would be for games that are compatible with positional tracking? Perhaps an assumption on my part but could you not use the positional tracking data to handle rotation as well as the positional data – this would come in really handy in games such as Skyrim, it would allow users to retain complete native controller support as headtracking wouldn’t be dependent on the mouse any longer. Maybe even have it so you could toggle it on or off via a hotkey.
    Cheers

Theoretically you are right, and this was actually tried already a long time ago to get decoupled look/aim, but in 99.9% of cases you would look into a black void when doing this. Games clip unwanted objects/geometry away long before vorpX comes into play.

You can observe the same effect when you overdo it with the “3D FOV Enhancement” in the vorpX menu, which causes objects in the peripheral part of the view to pop in and out in most games at high values.

Does this method work in skyrim? Would you be able to add it the profile if it did?

It never was fully implemented anywhere because of the issue described above. This really is of no use unfortunately. Nothing outside the forward field of view is actually there.

Ah well, cheers for taking the time to reply. I have free view working in Skyrim any way via another method but this would have been much cleaner if viable.
