FS22 keeps crashing on startup.

Hello, when I go to run Farming Simulator 22 with Vorpx on, it loads for about 10 seconds and then crashes to desktop.

I finally got it to run but I get nothing but black screen in my reverb g2

That doesn’t sound good.

First please try to run the game windowed. Sometimes that can help with issues like that.

Secondly, just in case:

Please make sure that the WMR runtime is set as your system’s OpenXR runtime (the WMR portal complains if it isn’t) and that vorpX is setup to use OpenXR. You can change that in the config app on the ‘General’ page. Do not use SteamVR with WMR headsets and DO NOT let SteamVR make itself your system’s OpenXR runtime. That is counterproductive with WMR headsets, which come with a native OpenXR runtime.

I literally just bought this after hearing all the reviews… especially for games like FS22… I’m running a 3080 and can not get fs22 to even get past load. I have tried everything posted in the troubleshooting topic and no luck and nothing I have read has even got close to fixing it

I want to add: after vorpx has done its ‘altered settings’ the game will not boot even with vorpx turned off

I’ve done both and still the same. It gets to the load screen where it starts talking and then crashes. I was able to get it running switching it back to steamvr in the config. But it doesn’t run well. I should be able to run it under openxr since I have a reverb g2.

I literally have to uninstall and reinstall vorpx to get fs22 to run in steamvr config. If I switch to openxr it’s just a black screen in my headset.

Please check whtether you have some tool/utility running that also hooks into games and causes a conflict. Typical candidates would be GPU/CPU tools of any kind, some chat apps, certain video recording software, basically anything that can show an overlay over games.

I dont think it’s a hooking issue as it boots up fine with vorpx active. But if you restart the game as it prompts “vorpx has reconfigured the game. Game may require a restart” it will crash on the first loading screen into menu straight to desktop with no error. And even restarting the computer and disabling vorpx the game will not go past the first loading screen. Unless of course you reset the game configuration file to before vorpx touched it

That’s weird. vorpX does make a few changes to the config file, but they (obviously) shouldn’t prevent the game from launching. Would be great if you could send me your vorpX-adjusted config files so I could check whether I can replicate the issue here.

Please browse to [Documents]\My Games\FarmingSimulator2022. The files vorpX adjusts are game.xml, gameSettings.xml and inputBinding.xml. Please send these (after vorpX changed them!) as an e-mail attachment to support at vorpx com.

What you can try yourself is disabling automatic resolution handling on the DirectVR page of the vorpX menu. With a bit of luck that resolves the issue. Let me know if it does.

As a very last resort you can disable automatic settings changes there altogether. Only do that as a very last resort though. Some of the changes vorpX applies are vital for the profile to work as intended.

So I was finally able to get it to launch with openxr but I get a black screen in my reverb g2. I can see it on my main monitor and I’m running it in windowed mode. I get audio but no video.

Hey, sorry to join in, but i have similar issues.

vorpx started, fs22 launched via steam, popup saying “attaching to fs22…”, fs22 loading screen shows, and then it crashes immediately.

using reverb g2, thru wmr. openxr selected in vorpx config window.
imported the vorpx cloud profile for fs22, and tried another one too, no luck.

I did have reshade installed, but it complained about a dxgi.dll, so i deleted the reshade files.
I disabled steam overlay, disabled norton av. can’t think of any other relevant apps from the pinned trouble shooting post running.

Any suggestions?

I tried thru the steamvr option also in the config, no luck.
Also, the game won’t launch at all anymore, vorpx on or off. So i can’t access the game settings, to switch to windowed mode etc.

Ok got it working for now, something must have been broken in the fs22 folder, was sorted with a reinstall..

Got the same problem here. First time startup is fine after vorpx install and the most works ingame.
After restarting the game it crashes in startup screen about 10 sec in. And to get it to work again you have to factory restore the game in Vorpx.

I can se when the icon of trackir is starting in the right corner of windows the game craches.
