ParticipantCan anyone help?
I previously played the game Sine Mora using VorpX. It was the BEST game I’ve ever seen in 3D. I purchased the game from Steam.
However.. months later after who knows what updated driver was installed, it seems it does NOT work any more. I click on the game, it starts to load, I even see the initial game’s intro screen (just before the title screen), but then it immediately closes. No error. No nothing. It just closes. (If I disable VorpX, the game loads and runs fine).
Anyone have any idea how to fix this? I did NOT change any settings on my end since the last time it worked… so the only thing that could have changed is a newer driver was installed somewhere… but that could have been from steam, my pc, video card, who knows what.
Any ideas?

KeymasterI could only try Sine Mora EX, not the original Sine Mora, which can’t be purchased anymore.
That said:
Runs a bit longer for me here, but eventually crashes at 90% on the loading sceen in any of the actual VR modes (Oculus/SteamVR/OpenXR), works fine though with ‘Generic 3D/VR’. Probably the same issue though.
Funny enough it doesn’t even work anymore with the old vorpX version that the user used who created the cloud profile for the game. So might be related to how newer Windows versions handle DX9.
I’ll look into this, but since this is not an officially supported game, I can’t give you any guarantee or timeline for a fix.

KeymasterI could fix the issue by making SineMoraEX.exe large address aware, which raises the amount of RAM available to the game above the 2GB limit old 32-bit games have per default.
That’s always worth a shot if you encounter issues like this with older 32-bit games on modern systems, regardless whether they actually run out of memory or not. Especially if you know they worked before.
A small tool that can make 32-bit .exe files large address aware can be found here:
https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556/Caveat: Only try this if you actually run into issues with a 32-bit game. In some, although probably rare, cases making a game large address aware can introduce new problems.

ParticipantThanks for your help.
First off, you are right, I was talking about “Sine Mora Ex”… I forgot the exact name. Sorry. So yup, we are talking about the identical game.
Also, I did try your suggestion of the ‘Generic 3D/VR’ setting.. but it then displays everything twice (side by side) both on the monitor and the headset. Is there some additional setting I have to change so it doesn’t display side by side? Once I select the “Quest” option instead of the ‘Generic 3D/VR’ option, it displays fine but crashes as I originally described.

KeymasterTry the tool I linked in my second reply. That solved the issue for me.
