For reference to other users, you can sort of get it to work with Bitdefender. You need to disable Advanced Threat Defense, and reboot your computer. VorpX will work fine afterwards. After you are done with VorpX you can just enable it again.
A bit cumbersome, but for people with existing subscriptions it might be worthwhile.
To clarify, adding the folders and executable for VorpX will not work, only disabling will.
Do you need to have Bitdefender? That is up for debate, but it routinely scores higher than other solutions (including Defender) and it’s highly rated for security. I have it and it has some nice features, but it does cause problems here and there. Anyway, just writing this in case it helps someone in the future.

Just a heads-up that the comically named “Advanced” Threat Defense is pretty much the exact opposite of advanced. It flatout blocks Windows functions used to hook into games and thus disables any program you might use that injects itself into other programs similar to vorpX.
