Mechwarror 5: Only hooks once per reboot or after hooking another game first

With MechWarrior5, VorpX will only hook once per reboot.

VorpX does show the hook attempt after that first time, but it never completes. I can replicate this behavior 100% of the time.

Aside from reboot, if I hook into another game, for example Portal 2, MechWarrior 5 will then hook once again without reboot. However, subsequent hook attempts with MW5 will again fail, unless I again reboot, or hook into another game first.

Any ideas on where to start looking for a fix?

The game is not supported, so I can’t really say anything specific. There is one suggestion I have for you though:

You could try to enable the alternative hooking method in the config app, may help with issues like this sometimes.

Caveat: Only try the alternative hooking method in case of issues and switch back afterwards. You will encounter problems with other games otherwise that require the default hooking. The alternative method is not better, just different.

Apart from that you might want to check for potential hooking conflicts on your PC, the trouble shooting guide in the help has more detailed information in that regard.

I only managed to MW5 to hook once, in total, ive tried starting another game that hooks correctly, Psychonauts in my case, and ive also tried restarting steamvr, vorpx, my computer and the alternate hooking method without any luck.

Any ideas?
