Hey guys, do you think the planned Metaverse by Epic, Microsoft and Facebook (Meta) will be the Wallstreet VR Fiasco, or the breakthrough of VR Headsets ?

i dont care about those metaverse, all i want is playing my AAAAAAA games in 3D using vorpx.

Wallstreet VR Fiasco because the tech isn’t there yet, maybe in 10 years or so when the headsets are as slim as normal glasses.

Honestly, all I need is a comfy headset with a bigger FoV (than my HP Reverb G2) and I will be very happy with the experience vorpX already provides.
So yeah, I have literally zero interest in the metaverse.

The only thing that annoys me is that there is no netflix for 3D films at the moment. If you want to enjoy 3D movies on your PC, you still have to pirate and decode them very cumbersomely in order to be able to play them on your headset (it’s baffling that there hasn’t been any noticable progress since the start of VR in 2015, at least when it comes to the availability of high budget 3D movie content – aside from the movie theater on the quest that is). So I still see a need for action here. Other than that I am quite satisfied.

I’m worried that we couldn’t buy Headsets in the future, if “the big 5” Apple, MS, Google, Meta and Amazon will destroy the VR Market with their wet dreams !

How is that supposed to work… what wet dreams…??…the porn industry is booming with VR right now…
After VR comes AR with lighter glasses…which can also do VR…
All major manufacturers are working on it…including Apple
We are on the way to “Ready Player One”…!!…after that comes the holodeck of the Enterprise and the philosophical question :”what is about reality…??…if the copy of it is the same It can be experienced in reality…!!

Metaverses (“Oasis Ready Player One”) are wet dreams by CEOs and Wallstreet brokers, but the most people are not interested in something like that before we will have 16K VR Headsets looking like “Sunglasses”. The Metaverses are going to be released in 5 Years, an with the tech we will have then, it will be the total crash of the VR Market. The big tech company’s are investing billions of Dollar in the Metaverses, but nobody wants to wear a “Meta Quest 4” about 8 hours at work, and additionally 4 hours in the evening in the leisure time. The big tech company’s want to sell a “Meta Quest 4” to everyone but the world is not ready yet. The big tech companys are greedy, and will fail !

Thanks! In fact, this one I have been using for quite some time now. And it’s true, you only have to rip the movie but it’s still rather annoying if you ask me.

On the quest 2 there is a movie theater with rental 3D movies and it works out of the box. Was hoping that at this time we would have something similar for pc as well.

It rumors that Apple, Google, Meta and Amazon are going to a shopping tour and will buy Valve, Epic, EA, Take Two, Square Enix and Ubisoft, to catch up to Sony, Microsoft and Tencent. We will have big Publishers with revenue’s of 15 – 20 Billion Dollars a year preparing to build their Metaverse’s. The complete gaming market will never be the same as before, because of the VR Metaverse escalation. If that will fail like Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, Steam Machines and other wet dreams of the big players, nobody knows what will happen to VR and specially our lovely Vorpx.

I just hope that if the terms “metaverse” and “vr” become synonmous, then if metaverse fails (which i think it will) then it doesn’t drag down vr with it. Like steph12 above, i’m all about the vr games, i dont care for metaverse.
