Hi. I bought Vorpx recently and have been enjoying RE7 until the last update. Now every time I try to load a level it says “Error createIndexBuffer, GPU instance has been suspended”. Windows Defender detected a Trojan in Vorpx, I made an exception to allow the entire Vorpx folder and restore the files. Then I did a factory reset of Vorpx. Same problem. I reinstalled Vorpx. Same problem. My Windows installation and NVidea drivers are up to date. Please help!
PD: If I load the level without Vorpx, then reset the game with Vorpx, and hit continue, the game works until I reach a new area. Then it crashes again.
Dec 17, 2020 at 12:39pm #198778RalfKeymasterDoes this happen for you when you enter the first house after starting the game? Just checked that part of the game, but couldn’t replicate the issue. The transition into the house worked perfectly fine.
BTW: completely unrelated, but you might want to set the ‘Headset Sync’ option to ‘Safe’ for this game. The default ‘Fast’ caused some stutter for me, which went away after switching to ‘Safe’.
Dec 20, 2020 at 5:48am #198931RodriArgCbaParticipantFinally found what’s causing the issue! It’s the “Reflections” Graphic setting. It doesn’t allow value “Variable” anymore. You can only use it “On” or “Off”. But if you select “Variable”, game crashes. It worked before the last update. If you can look into it would be awesome!
Another thing in regards to the new Headsync options you mentioned. I found that using “Alt. Fast” ,and fluid sync, other syncs in off works best. I also deactiveted head tracking prediction. My headset is an Oculus Rift S. Before the update Using Fluid sync worked great but now it stutters.
Dec 20, 2020 at 8:26pm #198980RalfKeymasterInteresting find, thanks for the heads-up. If I can confirm this to be a general issue, I’ll automatically set that setting accordingly.
Dec 21, 2020 at 5:35pm #198997RodriArgCbaParticipantQuick update: The game crashes with reflections “off” or “variable”. In short, you must use reflections “on” now. It’s having a bad impact on my fps unfortunately :( , especially in the back yard of the mansion.
Since we are on the topic of the game, I wanna mention: Last update almost all missing geometry was fixed. Hair, walls, clocks are now present, and you were able to somehow keep the white glow removed for some weapons. Nice job! The only object still missing is water. You can test it in the basement in the first section of the game, or in the bathtub in the second floor bathroom of the main house.
PD: Thanks for your hard work!
Dec 21, 2020 at 6:08pm #198998RalfKeymasterI’m not entirely sure if these things weren’t actually “fixed” by a bug in the last vorpX. RE7 has always been a bit odd. In general 3D is fantastic in this game, but the few glitches it has are tough cases. Fixing one glitch causes another one somewhere else. E.g. with the current public vorpX build VHS tape sequences are broken due to the above mentioned bug. Fixing the bug fixes VHS tapes, but it could well be that other things will become glitchy (again) because of that.
Dec 21, 2020 at 8:31pm #199007RodriArgCbaParticipantUpdate: Problem fixed
I deleted re7_config.ini so that the game would re-create it. Now the problem is fixed and reflections work! Seems I might have touched something I shouldn’t have during the update… oh well. If anyone else has this problem, just delete the file once, and you’re good to go.
Water still missing though :P. Thanks for the help!
