Been dying to play Skyrim in VR for two years now and with my new CV1, I figured I could finally get this sucker going. After spending 6 hours screwing with Vireio last night to no avail, I broke down and got Vorpx. The game pulls up just fine now but the head tracking is completely inverted: Left is right and Up is down and vice versa. I’ve scoured the internet for a solution but while it seems like a few others have had this issue, there’s never a solution. Skyrim’s settings do not have “Y is inverted” selected (I’ve tried with and without it to no effect).
Not worried about resolution and all that at the moment. Just need to get this VR sickness causing inversion fixed.
Head tracking direction can be inverted in the vorpX ingame menu to compensate for potentially inverted mouse movement. Please double check whether you maybe inadvertantly activated these options. Can’t really think of anything else that might cause something like that.
BTW: Resolution can be chosen freely. If your PC can handle it, go for 1920×1440. For the original DX9 Skyrim vorpX also has an option to upscale internally (image page of the ingame menu).
Friend told me to delete local settings. Still Bupkis. It seems like the Vorpx Menu’s “Invert X + Y” options SHOULD be the fixer here, yet not happens when I mess with them.
Okay, so I got to playing around with it some more today and I fixed the Inverted problem. Apparantly the “Override Xbox Controller” needs to be set as “full” where I’ve been keeping that off so that I can use my controller. But now I can’t use my controller, the buttons are mapped to weird things and I cannot change them to work with the controller.
Please make sure to run the new Direct VR scanner, that will allow you to use your gamepad natively in Skyrim. If you don’t have that, reinstall vorpX to get the latest version.
Bethesda games do not allow gamepad and mouse to be used together. Without Direct VR vorpX needs the mouse for head tracking, hence it overrides the gamepad. You can change the key mapping for this gamepad override to ypir liking in the vorpX ingame menu.
