    Hello,

I used to be able to run Skyrim and SKSE with no problem, but now I can’t seem to get it to start when Vorpx is running. If I run SKSE it gives me the error:
    “Launching D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\\TESV.exe failed (5).”

If I try to run just skyrim.exe I get this error:
“Windows cannot access the specific device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

I am running Vorpx as an administrator, and have the Vorpx administrator option also toggled on. The game runs fine when Vorpx is not running. I have tried re-installing the game, vorpx, and steamVR.

Any suggestions on how I can get this running again?

Please try either running both vorpX and the game as admin or none of them.

In general you should not run vorpX as admin unless absolutely necessary (for example for games that force admin rights). For games that work fine wothout admin righs, vorpX also works without admin right, which is the preferred way of running vorpX.

I had the same problem Kromburg. I managed to work around it by putting the vorpx watcher on pause, start skse and quickly unpause the watcher. I guess it depends how quickly skse boots up for you but only needs a second.
    Hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice. I found I can get it to work if I just try to start the game several times. Sometimes it takes me ten or so times to get it to actually open. I wish it was more consistent, but at least it’s more or less working now.

Things like SKSE are always a bit of a gamble. It also hooks into the game and depending on whether vorpX hooks first or SKSE it might work, work not or cause weird issues. Luckily most of the time it seems to work somehow, but I would still recommend only to use SKSE based mods if you absolutely can’t live without them.
