ParticipantAfter installing 24.1.0 today, it basically broke my perfectly running vorpX :(
I am unable to return to the BETA version I had before because my install file is the “vorpX_beta_WebSetup” file which automatically reinstalls 24.1.0.
I had a perfectly running “3D Reconstruction: Geometry” profile for FS22 and now its all broke and back to the Z. However, after restarting the computer, the Start VorpX option in the start menu is gone. There is no such start function in the install directory, only the vorpConfig.exe and vorpDesktop.exe. Neither of these will run vorpX in the background. So now I have no way to run vorpX any longer. What are my options here?

ParticipantUPDATE: each time I reinstall vorpX_beta_WebSetup, I get the Start VorpX icon back. But after PC restart, this is gone and is no longer an option

ParticipantI am a determined soul.. must have my Farming Simulator 22 in VR…. After my fourth re-install of vorpX, I finally got everything to work again. Had to setup a new profile and set up all new settings. Took a few hours, but it appears we are back in business for now. I really dislike the “optimize game settings” that vorpX does when the checkmark is not marked in the config options, but there appears to be no way to get things rolling as far as getting “3D Reconstruction: Geometry” to activate in the profile until this is optimized by vorpX a few game start ups. All my in-game keybindings also got reset by vorpX to default, which was really annoying. Eventually I was able to turn off the optimization and setup the graphics exactly how I want it and get vorpX to stop messing with it. Such a fiddly program, but if its what we have to put up with when dealing with non-native vr games, well.. its really the only option for now.
Lesson learned, dont update vorpX to new versions unless you are about to start playing a new game and are no longer using it for another game that is already running perfectly fine as is. Never touch a running system… I always forget this…

ParticipantVorpX stopped working again for me today and I can confirm the file “vorpControl.exe” once again disappeared from the vorpX main folder. I had a backup of this file standing by and added a copy back in the main folder without re-installing vorpX and now vorpX works again. This never happened to me in any previous versions of vorpX. There is definitely an issue with version 24.1.0 and my system.

KeymasterAlmost certainly an antivirus program running amok, can happen after an update. Since I can’t replicate the issue with Windows Defender, I’d supect you have some third party AV installed.
Either exclude the vorpX program folder from your AV scanner or in case it’s indeed some third party AV, better get rid of it altogether. Windows Defnder is more than good enough since almost a decade. Not entirely without problems either, but far less likely to cause issues than some of the more annoying/invasive third party AV programs.

ParticipantI don’t use any other antivirus program other than Microsoft Defender. But thanks for the tip, I have now added an exclusion for the vorpX program folder in Windows Security.

ParticipantHi Ralf, just wanted to give you an update, it’s been three days and I haven’t had any more issues with losing the vorpX control file. Excluding the folder in Defender seemed to do the trick, thanks again for taking the time to solve my issue :)
