Hello, I saw an old video from the youtuber VoodooDE who tested The Witcher 3 v1.31 with a First Person mod and vorpX:

Sadly, this First Person Mod is not available anymore on Nexus, but there is another First Person Mod called “Gervant First Person”. The Mod is available for the Next Gen (v4.04) and Old Gen (v1.31-v1.32). From what I know, vorpX 21.3.5 supports the Classic “Old Gen” Version and vorpX 24.0.1 (Beta) supports the Next Gen Version (v4.04) of the Witcher 3.

Is it still possible to play the Witcher 3 (Classic or Next Gen) in First Person with VorpX? I tried to start The Witcher 3 (v4.04 – Next Gen) together with the “Gervant First Person” Mod and VorpX(v24.0.1), but it does not work. VorpX starts with a Warning “Other mods seem to be present. If you encounter any issues, try to remove all mods except modVpxwitcher3 from your Witcher 3 mod folder. Especially camera mods may clash with the vorpX mod.” After that vorpX crashes.

Anyone out there got it to run?

Please check whether it works without the first person mod.

If it does, the first person mod is incompatible with the mod vorpX installs for DirectVR.

If if doesn’t, you have some other issue.

Hi Ralf, thanks for your response. I tried vorpX v21.3.5 with The Witcher 3 Classic (v1.32) and vorpX v24.0.1 (Beta) with The Witcher 3 Next Gen Version (v4.04) as well. Both profiles are working.

I just hope to find a way to get any First Person Mod running. It was possible with an old Mod and the Classic Version, but unfortunately this Mod is not available anymore. That’s why I wanted to ask here if anyone knows another way.

vorpX v21.3.5/Witcher 3 Classic should work with the first person mod since in that case vorpX doesn’t install a Witcher mod by itself.

24.1.0 however probably won’t work with camara mods since it comes with it’s own camera mod for auto-FOV and DirectVR 3D.

You might get lucky with 24.1.0 and the Witcher 3 Script Merger, but since both the vorpX mod and the first person mod affect the camera that probably won’t work as expected.

Ok, so Classic Version and vorpX v21.3.5 should work. Thanks.

Can I use vorpX v21.3.5 and vorpX v24.0.1 (Beta) in parallel on one operating system (Win11)? I use the Virtual Monitor quiet often (Vermentide 2, Space Engineers), as it allows me to scale my desktop for a better ingame resolution, which is somehow impossible with the Nvidia control panel (No DSR Option // Asus FX506HM with RTX 3060). So I don’t want to miss this new feature.

DO NOT (seriously!) do something like that. May look like it works at first, but will cause all sorts of weird issues.

vorpX is a fairly complex software with multiple processes interacting and communicating with each other. Having multiple versions installed at the same time is a recipe for desaster. How data is exchanged between the various components may (and does) change occasionally. With multiple versions installed at once you could easily run into situations where e.g. an older service tries to communticate with a newer injector or vice versa, causing havoc in the process.

All right, I got it. I will try it with The Witcher 3 Classic v1.32, vorpX v21.3.5 and the “Gervant First Person” Mod. After some testing, I’ll let you know how well it worked. Thanks for help.

I successfully ran The Witcher 3 Next Gen Version (v4.04) with vorpX v24.0.1 with the Gervant First Person mod, using the W3MM and the Script Merger tools. I first run just W3 + vorpX, let it install the hooks, scripts, and all, and then used “TheWitcher3ModManager” to install the “GFP_CameraCE.zip”, after which it invoked the script merger tool, WitcherScriptMerger.exe, which successfully merged the vorpX stuff with the FPV mod. But, the issue is, with or without the FPV mod, headtracking currently does not seem to work with W3/NG + vorpX v24.

Running classic mode successfully with 21.3.5 and it is an absolute blast and performance is also pretty good, I must say. Only issue where I was wondering if here is a good workaround is adjusting the y axis angle to fit the headset. I am using oculus controllers to emulate M+KB and have put the y sensitivity of the right joystick to 0. That way at least I don’t accidentally change the angle while turning and then for adjustments I just quickly use the real mouse. I know I cannot do memory scan or anything like that but is there some alternative that does not require constant readjustment after I have been in a dialogue or a menu?

Ok, so I actually found a pretty good workaround to precisely adjust the y axis. The GFP mod has a keybind for changing between 1st and 3rd person. Doing this actually resets the view to perfect horizontal. All you need now is to orient your head perfectly level, which is surprisingly hard when the vr image suggests a different angle already. My workaround, switch to edge peek and orient your head so it is square with the screen and leaves roughly the same gap in the top as in the bottom.

Once you get you used to it is just a few quick buttons to press and your done but here’s my future request for VorpX:

It would be super helpful to have an overlay that shows the actual y angle of the headset so that you can adjust your head to perfect horizontal and then quickly change to 3rd person and back for perfect alignment in-game and no guesswork.
