Was using desktop viewer along with superdepth3d to play Alan Wake 2 on my RTX 3060
and although I had to play without ray tracing and most settings on medium it ran fairly
    smoothly.

The other day I upgraded to a RTX 4070 and I straight up did not change a setting anywhere. Same drivers. Same settings in vorpx and superdepth3d. Literally just turned off the computer and swapped in the 4070 and turned it back on. Now, although the monitor fps seems to be buttery smooth I’m getting terrible lag/performance in my headset. After some trouble shooting, turning off superdepth3d, and testing out settings the culprit seems to be Vorpx Desktop Viewer.

It worked fine with my 3060 in Alan Wake 2, why am I suddenly getting MUCH WORSE performance with a 4070???

To be clear, starting desktop viewer and using it just for the desktop the performance is good but the minute a save loads up in Alan Wake 2 my performance goes to pot.

    Using VorpX 21.3.5

UPDATE: I tried out the VorpX Beta desktop viewer and it works much better. Although it still starts to struggle when I crank the ray tracing way up sooo….problem mostly solved for now.

Most of the people in this world cannot tell the difference whether it is ray-traced. It’s just a huge game played by gpu manufacturers who want your money. Don’t fall for it.
