    G3D works, albeit with a few quirks. The game doesn’t actually render objects outside the default FoV, so changing that will cause graphical issues.

    Portal and torch effects won’t appear where they’re supposed to if you change, well, just about anything, including the focal offset/distance. Increasing the FoV will actually cause them to appear as double, one to the left, one to the right of where the object they’re placed on is. They also don’t seem to be affected by distance fading, at long distances you’ll see the flame but not neccessarily the torch handles. I tried messing with the shader editor (both portals and flames are on the same shader) but nothing seemed to make a difference.
