SatChitAnandaParticipantJust bought Vorpx and I am frustrated with trying to make games work with higher resolutions but my laptop has only FullHD and it’s not worth to play VR games in that resolution. Whenever I open up “Vorpx Desktop viewer” that should disable my primary monitor, in my headset I have black screen and if I look at my laptop monitor I see “attaching to vorpxDesktop.exe” which never ends. I tried adding vorpxDesktop.exe to excluded programs but it still keeps attaching. I tried to turn off watcher and it still attaches to that. The excluding program list doesn’t seem to work because even if I added “Lenovo LegionSpace” to the list, it still thinks it should attach to that program “LegionSpace.exe” when I open it.
Some times I was lucky to turn on “Vorpx Desktop Viewer” where I saw my primary monitor in the headset, but only if I had also second physical monitor connected. But then when I opened up the desired game like “Portal 2” it automatically exited “Vorpx Desktop Viewer” and in options of the game I didn’t see “Virtual Monitor” higher resolutions.
I use Windows 11, Quest 3s connected to PrismXR Puppis1 and run through Virtual Desktop, it runs all good if I run games without Virtual Monitor or without opening vorpx desktop viewer, but I wanna use these for high resolutions.

RalfKeymasterTry thorugh a native API (SteamVR in your case). Virtual Desktop might clash with vorpX’s virtual monitor. Exit the VD Streamer entirely.
If that does not help, and your laptop has a dedicated GPU (most gaming laptops do), the issue is probably caused by your desktop running on the integrated GPU while your headset is connected to the dedicated GPU. Disabling the iGPU in your laptop’s BIOS might help in that case.
The desktop viewer should not, must not (and as you noticed actually can not) be excluded.

SatChitAnandaParticipant1. Tried SteamVR – the same issue
2. Turned in LegionSpace so it uses only dGPU – the same issue
3. Tried to use it through cable and meta horizon link – changed from SteamVR to Meta horizon Link
Still the same issue
It always shows vorpx “Attaching to vorpxDesktop.exe”. Was it programmed this wau that vorpx is trying to attach to vorpxDesktop.exe but failiing or is it a bug in general and it shouldn’t do that.
Anyway it seems I canno use the desktop viewer but when I was going through all these steps I’ve noticed that I can see the Virtual Monitor in Meta Link Horizon app in headset as 2nd monitor, or I can see it in Virtaul Desktop too in hidden button enabling seeing second screen. So as workaround in the headset Virtual Desktop App, I just click Windows Display Options while using Virtual Monitor on second screen and set the virtual monitor as my main display and the run the games and now I see the higher resolution. Sometimes it’s glitchy though and if for some reason game crashes then I cannot sert virtual monitor as main display manually until I make some resets. Would prefer to have it all simople throguh vorpx desktop viewer app but good that at least I found some more complicated work around.Jun 30, 2026 at 2:43pm #223290
RalfKeymasterAs said above, the desktop viewer should not, must not (and as you noticed actually can not) be excluded.
If vorpX can’t attach to it, something is very, very wrong. Most likely candidate is some invasive third party antivirus program that gets in the way. If you happen to use anything else than the built-in Windows Defender, get rid of it.
While usually everything is supposed to work with normal user rights, running vorpX as admin might also be worth a shot. Should not be necessary, but just in case.
Nothing to suggest otherwise. There must be something on your machine that gets in the way.

SatChitAnandaParticipantI use only windows defender but its not giving any notification of blocking vorpx. Now I cannot anymore use workaround because when i try to set Virtual Monitor it immediately sets my other monitor as main after 1 second. Dont know why previously it was sometimes possible but i cannot do it anymore even though i tried different approaches.
I recorded on youtube how I try to set manually virtual monitor as main and it doesnt allow me, I also turn on desktop viewer and this time it worked, but in desktop viewer you can still see that virtual monitor is not set as main and it didnt disable my other physical monitors, as result after running portal2.exe, after attaching it exits desktop viewer and use my physical monitor because there are no higher resolutions available in options.
Heres recording on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ithBeWWEE6kif you would like me to record more for prove or different angles for debug, i can do more. Note that i tried already also do the same on cable with meta horizon link and there is no difference, i cannot however record using quest 3s built in recorder while in meta horizon link
