Hi Ralf, I tried your suggestions above, they definitely help, thank you very much.

But I have a feeling I’m missing something big here. When I run RDR2 I can run it at full resolution and with ultra quality (or almost ultra quality) but when I run it with Vorpx I have to go down very low to make it work.

Looking at the adrenalin drivers setup page I can see that Vorpx is not really working my cpu or gpu hard, but the vram is off the charts so the performance is somewhat jittery even at medium/low resolutions.

I see in this other post that you tell the user to not open Desktop Viewer, but run rdr2 directly:
    https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/is-anyone-else-having-issues-with-red-dead-redemption-2/

How do I run rdr2 with Vorpx without Desktop Viewer? Also: at the moment I have to start the Oculus software, then Vorpx, then Rockstar Launcher and from there RDR2. Is there any way to eliminate Oculus or Rockstar Launcher from the equation?

    Best, Hugo

    Fascinating stuff!

    1. I haven’t really installed anything to detect the PS4 controller, either windows 10 or rdr2 themselves detect it by default :D so no clue there :D

    2. I actually had a casual breakthrough here :) After testing a big number of the resolutions available, when using resolutions like 1600 x iiii and lower the settings and menus in rdr2 fit perfectly, apparently it’s only from 1920 x iiii and upwards that the menus get out of whack, at least in my system. What can be the reason for that?

    3. That’s an awesome suggestion :) I’ll test it out tomorrow, thanks Ralf

I do have a couple of annoyances though, I’ve been looking at the forum and found Ralf has answered some of them, but not to my satisfaction :D

    1. I play RDR2 with a PS4 controller. When I click delete to enter the Vorpx menu everything spins like crazy. I’ve seen Ralf answer that people should disconnect their joysticks, but in my case that is a no-go, I am playing with the controller. Is there another solution to this crazy spinning?

    2. When I go into RDR2 settings, the red border selection boxes are very badly aligned with the real menu options anywhere in RDR2 settings. I can live with it, but is there a solution to this?

    3. During the game and in settings, I’m shown the click options as keyboard keys (enter for yes, delete for no, etc) instead of the controller buttons (x for yes, circle for no, etc). I do glimpse the corresponding buttons briefly when I click them many times, so this seems an overlayering problem (it does not happen when I play RDR2 PC standalone without Vorpx). Is there a solution to this?

Still reading through guidelines and manuals so my apologies if my questions are redundant :D

Update: so 2-3 days later everything is in order and I finally get to enjoy RDR2 the way it really was meant to be enjoyed (in my humble opinion). Thanks Ralf for the opportunity to play this game in such an immersive way. I’m sure I’m not the first to tell you it’s a dream come true to look up at the mountains from down in the valley and think “holy s**t they are so tall!” :D

As per the previous problems, I’m guessing I just needed to fine tune the new Aurora R10 (they come with a lot of garbage pre-installed) and also learn to use Vorpx better :D No expert yet but it’s already very enjoyable :D

Thanks Ralf, will keep on investigating the issue and follow your instinct about interfering programs :D I’ll keep you guys posted if I notice something that might be the culprit here :D

So I had some progress today. The error I was having, “Social Club failed to initialize: Error 4” went away by unchecking the box “Try to block known game overlays”. More precisely, first I did a factory reset of Vorpx, then I checked on “Run as administrator” (cause otherwise RDR2 won’t hook) and then I checked off “Try to block known game overlays”.

I got to the regular landing screen where you can start the Story, Settings, etc. Unfortunately I’m so dumb I did not try to start the Story, I went into Settings (which worked just fine). Then I closed RDR2 and tried loading a different vorpx cloud profile, which unfortunately broke RDR2.

Now when I start RDR2 I get “social club failed to load due to an incomplete installation”, and this is not just when using Vorpx, it has broken RDR2 standalone also, probably modified the settings.xml file or something :D Luckily it was a new installation, no saved games yet.

I’m reinstalling RDR2 and see if I can get to that landing screen again, and this time I’ll run the Story mode to make sure things are working.

    More tomorrow!

Oh, what a shame! :( Let’s see if we can figure it out this time around :D I’m trying to figure out why RDR2 would land on the Social Club page when runnning it with Vorpx + Oculus but not when running it standalone. By the way, if I run it as Vorpx + Virtual Desktop + RDR2 it does the same thing.

Also, why is RDR2 trying to open the Social Club page? When I open it in normal PC mode without Vorpx or anything else open, it lands on the screen where you can select ‘Story’, ‘Social Club’, etc. Why isn’t RDR2 trying to land there when using Vorpx? Why is it landing on Social Club?

    Thanks
