Vorpx gives you stereoscopic 3D, so it’s not like native VR, it’s more like using a 3D TV IMHU, but if you think that would be fun, give it a try!

VorpX is like native VR with a lot of games, but usually more beautiful, clearer&sharper with more display options, and most of the time no motion aiming / handling (it would require a mod). Some games even have great 6dof camera.

I don’t know about this game. There is an unofficial profile in the cloud section.

This game seems to allow an high FOV (something required to get proper full VR). You should usually choose a value around 112°.

So if the profile has headtracking & G3D, it’s probably like native (with the right resolution & FOV). It it has only headtracking and Z3D, it’s like native but with a lesser type of 3D.

Considering this is an unofficial profile, it’s hard to say what it does without testing it.

This game seems to use HPL Engine.

    According to this website :
    https://rjkole.com/gamestuff/engines/index.php?selengine=HPL%20Engine
there is G3D sometimes with this engine (Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Amnesia: The Dark Descent).
If it works, it probably require to play the game in DX11. This game seems recent so I don’t know if shaders will work in G3D without an official profile.
DirectX12 usually only allows Z3D but if there is a profile, it probably works.

I got VorpX specifically for Amnesia: The Dark Descent. It’s very nearly working perfectly, but in VR it still looks like there’s a full-3D ‘screen’ hovering in front of my face. It very nearly fills my field of view, but I can see the edges – particularly the bottom. If this was just stretched more and positioned lower it would be perfect.

Any ideas? When next I can, I’m going to reinstall the game and make sure I maximize FOV before running VorpX, but VorpX told me that it had changed some game settings and I figured that included FOV.

Thanks for insisting that there has to be an issue. I checked several OpenGL games before release, but apparently never checked EdgePeek with them. The issue is already identified.

Thanks for addressing this. I was going to send a post today regarding this issue since I noticed the issue of an upside down display with Amnesia: The Dark Descent (opengl game) when invoking EdgePeek. I thought maybe I had too much Xmas drinky….lol

    Happy holiday all!

    Hello,

A while ago, I was thinking to myself how amazing it would be to be able to play Amnesia: the dark descent in virtual reality. Seeing Vorpx is the best option here I decided to give it a go.
I’m really amazed with how well it works for most of the games I’ve tried! Sadly it crashes when I try to boot up Amnesia though (Both amenesia:tdd and amnesia:amfp give the same error).
I’ve been trying to solve this for a couple of weeks now, and I’m not really making any progress on fixing it. I was wondering if anyone on the forums could help me out.

When looking through the vorpX logs, I think something goes wrong when installing the secondary hooks. The amnesia logs look entirely clean, it says the game is running and that’s the end of it…
The game works fine without vorpX running in the background. I’ve attatched all the files below.

I cannot play Amnesia Dark Descent at all. Both eyes get flashing flickering of the game and the frame rates is so low it would be less than 1 frame per second. Im running win 10 64 bit. AMD fx-8350 Black edition and an R9 390x video card. Quake 2 does the exact same thing. I have tried many settings to no avail. Games like Skyrim and fallout 4 run just fine. It seems to be a possible issue with Open GL not really sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Trying to get this game to work. It boots into the Rift just fine, but the rendered image seems to alternate in each eye, causing some terrible flickering, as well as mouse trails. It happens with 3D on or off. The game looks completely fine on my monitor, but in the headset it flickers. The flickering speeds up if I’m getting higher FPS and I’ve tried turning on and off every setting in the menu. Please help! Thanks!

Unfortunately support for Amnesia games cannot be added currently, since they use OpenGL instead of DirectX to display the graphics. OpenGL support might be added to vorpX at a later point in time.

I just purchased Vorpx, and it’s incredible on so many levels, so user friendly, so easy to optimize. I would love to see Amnesia The Dark Descent get added to the list of games, it is without a doubt the greatest horror game ever made (my opinion, but I’m right =D), having it on the list would be a huge selling point for those who are looking to up the ante when it comes to the VR horror experience. I’m sure you guys are extremely busy and have a huge list of games on a “priority additions list”, adding this game to that end of that list would be an amazing thing to look forward to in the future.
