Are you by any chance using some mod manager? At least one of them, can’t remember which one, also hooks into the game and does all sorts of unhealthy stuff, including re-routing of ini-paths and some other *really* weird things.

Skyrim (the original one) was one of the first games that ever were used with vorpX (before it was even called that way), and since that time all Bethesda RPGs always have been, and still are, regular test games. Not once did I encounter any hooking issue with one of them, otherwise the alternative method would be forced by the profile.

If you need the alternative method for a Bethesda RPG, something is fishy for sure. That’s pretty much true whenever you need to change the hooking method for an official profile BTW. Without anything interfering all official profiles should hook ‘out of the box’.

I run SkyrimSE with over 140 mods and always have to use the alternate hooking method. Vorpx doesn’t even try to hook it with the default hook – there are no entries in the troubleshooting log to indicate that it even tried.

i have been playing for like three weeks skyrim native vr. Now i wanted to start skyrimse and playing vorpx version again. The games havent been modded since the last time vorpx was up an running. Fallout 4 and skyrim wont hook if started from skse or f4se. The last update seems to have change somthing. The game started from within the skyrim or fallout4 folder works,, why would a modded game not hooking anymore?

Have to say, The Outer Worlds is probably the second best G3D game I’ve seen done in VorpX. (Second to Skyrim of course).
The shadows don’t have any glitches (or very few), the aiming is solid (no double eye issue as the HUD is further from the camera). Decently high framerate. Quite happy with it.
Normally I’d be quite happy enough to play in Z3D, but this game has enough interior spaces that G3D is a nice bump up.

Did you ever try VorpX with Skyrim SE and Skyrim Together mod ?
Ive wanted to play multiplayer Skyrim VR, but as you say, the mod is not compatible with Skyrim VR.
I was going to purchase Skyrim SE and use VorpX with the Together mod if it does work.

    @Kurt91,
I’ve found that some games will work fine with ENB even if they throw an error. Skyrim for example. Just “ok” the error and keep playing.

Yes, I have both First and Third person FOV set to the max of 130.

I think the main problem is, the game doesn’t give depth like the Skyrim VR game does. Am on ESO now but on my desktop and it feels the same, no depth etc

    Hi,
I have recently come back to try Vorpx and ESO, now that I have finished Skyrim VR.
What would you say are the best in-game settings for ESO to make it look as good as Skyrim VR ?
I have a 2080ti, and have tried using max settings, but I find it still feels like am looking at a wrapped around screen.

Do I need to add a new resolution to get this looking similar to Skyrim VR, and use lesser settings than max ?

Id be very grateful for any suggestions you can give.

I will pass on this one, here it would be really hard to find it, and a quick search showed me a price really too high for an old game like this (30€ lul). I could get it from some obscur way like the first time I played 15 years ago but it isn’t worth it now.

Thank you for the help anyway! I’ll keep the Headset for others games, just got a big discount on Skyrim VR, so the next few months will probably be for modding :D

I’ve never fully finished skyrim, but I’ve started it exactly 8 times, and have about 400 hours in it. This time I’m determined to see it through. And its just so gorgeous now, I think I will.
Plus all the sneaking, rope climbing, back stabbing, extra dark mods I’ve installed make it oh so suspenseful.

I’m probably the most untypical Skyrim user ever, so nothing anyone has to care about when deciding what they want to use, but I actually still fairly often wander around near Whiterun in the original DX9 Skyrim for 10 minutes after a long day of work, marveling at northern lights (alternatively slaying a bunch of wolves if it was a bad day). Never could warm up to the odd colors of the Special Edition.

Was one of the first things I did with vorpX about eight years ago before it was even called vorpX, and will probably also be one of the last things I’ll do with it at some point.

Funny enough I never really played the game except for the first five hours or so although I loved Morrowind and Oblivion before and wanting to play Skyrim on my pre-Rift DIY VR headset was one of the major driving forces behind starting with what later became vorpX. Working with the game on a regular basis for a fairly long time somehow spoiled playing it for me in the end.

Oh I enjoy both. The thing I guess I wasn’t getting across in my original post which makes it better for me in VorpX is that fact that I can play in VorpX in Cinema mode which lets me run the game at much lower FPS tolerably. I can usually tolerate a 30fps for slow paced games like skyrim, which lets me mod the crap out of the game and make it look utterly stunning graphically. For those of us who don’t have a $2000 video card from the future, this is great. I’m pretty sure the way I have it modded would drive almost any video card into the ground. And you don’t want to sacrifce those 90fps you need for head movement in real VR.

So far no actual reason to intervene here, so just in case, out of experience: please keep any “Skyrim VR” vs “Skyrim vorpX” discussion civil. Those seem to have a tendency to escalate.

Skyrim VR is great and a perfectly valid choice, but apparently there are still some people who prefer to use Skyrim plus vorpX for individual reasons, which neither makes them idiots nor does it invalidate anyone’s choice of Skyrim VR over vorpX. The same is true vice versa, of course. So no reason for potential flame wars at all.

True Northmen argue about the next country to pillage, not about the right way to play Skyrim with a VR headset! ;)

*Virtually* all graphic mods also work on Skyrim VR – I have nearly 200 installed with no issues – plus you can use an ENB

Loved skyrim in VR, but lately I’ve been modding the shit out of Skyrim SE and using VorpX to play it in 3D. Wow. I hazzard to say its actually far better than Skyrim VR. The graphics you can pull off these days is unbelievable.
