In reply to: Any chance of updated the Supported Games List
vpxtstParticipantOkay, I can get the game to run if I use Bioshock2 remastered, but not the original Bioshock2.
Also, Bioshock2 remastered doesn’t support VorpX DirectVR. If it does, then it just doesn’t support the auto-tracking (Alt L) feature?

vpxtstParticipantI’m also having problems with Bioshock2 and VorpX. I haven’t tried Bioshock 2 remastered yet to see if that works better.

RalfKeymasterDid you run the Direct VR scanner after entering the actual gameworld to adjust field of view and head tracking?
Direct VR games (incl. Skyrim) are the ones that work best. Current games with Direct VR support are: Fallout 4, Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Borderlands 2, Bishock (original), Bioshock 2 (original), Bioshock Infinite, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Black Mesa Source. More to come shortly.

Michelangel0ParticipantIf you ask me, then I say that the immersion that the world of a Skyrim or Bioshock provides in VR outweighs any potential technical glitch by an order of magnitude.
Well, using your words, I´m afraid of those glitches breaking the previous immersion. It is useless to have Skyrim in VR if I have to suffer issues with headtracking or other problems constantly. It kills the immersion completely.
Instead of thinking inside the game..I would end up thinking about the glitches.
Just be aware that vorpX applies VR to games that were never ever meant to be played in 3D, let alone in VR, and that that can imply some technical compromises. Whether that is OK for you or not, only you can decide
Actually I cannot decide.
I have to BUY it (40U$D) just to see how it works. There is no TRIAL or DEMO version. Videos on youtube are clearly not enough, and I´m not sure about possible issues. so…
That is something that makes me doubt of buying, if the software is good, then a way to test or refund should be available to let users DECIDE.

RalfKeymasterFirst you should always be aware that vorpX applies VR functionality to games that were never meant to be played in VR. So depending on how you define 100%, either only a few may work without issues or most.
If you are searching for the games that work best, the ones with the new Direct VR feature, which provides automatic 1:1 head tracking and FOV adjustment, are clearly closest to a native experience. Others will require more tweaking. Currently this includes (more to come shortly):
Fallout 4, Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Borderlands 2, Bishock (original), Bioshock 2 (original), Bioshock Infinite, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Black Mesa Source.

TroutVRParticipantI think if a functionality is clearly labeled as “experimental” nobody should complain if it doesn’t work in their setup.
…some of it comes from “room-scale nazis” with superiority complex. Those people will always complain about something, there is no reason to worry about them when deciding on a functionality to include.
Wow. This thread is just a simple feature request backed up with logical reasons (both comfort and control) and a report about some bugs in Bioshock. The two room scale request both complemented on how we like vorpx. CHILL
Both major headsets are room scale. Is it crazy to think Vorpx would want to support it being more comfortable to play that way? Especially such a small change like letting us flip the default icons on the right pad?
I think you are very incorrect that labeling something experimental means don’t complain. I would suggest it means “HEY, this might be buggy, and don’t get ANGRY if something breaks…but it would help a lot if you have any issues or suggestions report them to the support forum so we can fix them”.
Forums are here for feature requests and bug reports, the nazi like thing would be someone coming in here telling us not to do that…

TiggerdyretParticipantThesugi:
firstly, it’s hard to promise that what you want will definitively work, but there is a very big chance that it will. Mirro’s Edge should work, but The Witcher 2 doesn’t have G3D, which is the true 3D mode. Here is a list of games that have been confirmed to work by the community: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nD_HyS8v_zKf9MZ3OYVpdnKAJBeMycGTgFmaJ639Oyg/edit#gid=0
Secondly, Vorpx is not hard to setup, but will require patients in some cases and could take a long time to get right. But it depends and it’s getting easier and easier with each update. Some games like HL2, Portal 1-2, Skyrim, bioshock 1-inf and a few more even have Direct VR mode, which makes it work perfectly with a simple scan. But you can always play any game in cinema or desktop mode without much hassle.Jan 19, 2017 at 11:46pm #125087In reply to: bioshock 1 not hooking (bioshock 2 does) HTC vive
MrbubblesParticipantHi Ralf
many thanks managed to get it to work after some other fidling;
re-applied the cloud bioshock-vorpx settings
made a short cut from vorpx and paused the watcher
In game menu;
turn off direct X 10 detail
window mode
vert sync off
res 1600×1200
graphics and texture detail high
(notes may help me again if not anyone else)rapture in VR is great!
2K are nuts for not doing a VR version for the collection, i`d have paid good money for itcheers
Jan 15, 2017 at 8:46pm #124918In reply to: So I am still on the fence about Vorpx
RalfKeymasterThe 3D effect in Witcher 3 isn’t as pronounced as in native since it is applied after rendering the game. In contrast to that Life is Strange has full Geometry 3D, which works like native apps by rendering the scene twice.
You can play both games with the default settings, but if you want to make them more immersive, you will need to adjust settings. The one-click games that require no configuration for a fully immersive experience are the ones listed above with the new Direct VR feature: Fallout 4, Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Borderlands 2, Bishock (original), Bioshock 2 (original), Bioshock Infinite, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Black Mesa Source.
Jan 15, 2017 at 8:41pm #124916In reply to: HTC Vive support is seated only or roomscale?
RalfKeymasterIn general seated or standing in place, but there also are a few games that allow basic walking around. The requirement for that is that the new Direct VR feature works with the game and that the Direct VR handles positional tracking. Currently this means: Fallout 4, Bioshock 1+2, Bishock Infinite, Aliens Colonial Marines.

HalloMolliParticipantvorpX does a lot more. I.e. providing Stereo 3D and head tracking. In case of Witcher 3 it’s a 3D effect that is applied after rendering the game, so it’s not as pronounced as the 3D effect in native apps. Life is Strange has full Geometry 3D, which means the scene is rendered twice like in native apps. You can also move the “screen” very close to you, so that it fully fills the view to enhance immersion.
You can have fun with with these two games and vorpX, but you should be aware that they don’t belong to the games where vorpX really shines.
The best games for vorpX, especially in regard to easy configuration, are the ones with the new Direct VR feature, currently that includes: Fallout 4, Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Borderlands 2, Bishock (original), Bioshock 2 (original), Bioshock Infinite, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Black Mesa Source.
Thank you for your Reply again, Ralf, that’s very useful Information. Unfortunately the only games I find somewhat appealing are Skyrim and Fallout 4. But Fallout 4 will get a native VR-Support anyways (soon) and from what I’ve heard you have to reduce the graphical ‘fidelity’ to a medium Setting in Skyrim for it to become playable via vorpx in VR. And I can only Play the game with a ton of mods loaded so I am afraid it won’t be a pleasent experience playing it in VR (–> due to low fps), I guess.
Allow me two last questions:
1) What’s the difference between the 3D effect in Witcher 3 compared to a, say, native 3D effect. Yes, I get it, it’s not as significant as you’d expect but is it still, well, enjoyable enough to settle down with the low Resolution of the game (I know, it’s a very subjective question…)?
2) I suppose that I will have to work myself through the Settings of vorpx to make Witcher 3 work in VR, yes? So am I right in assuming that it won’t be something like: Load vorpx –> ‘bind’ it with witcher 3 –> push ‘Play in VR’-button in vorpx –> enjoy Witcher 3 in VR?
(note: I read some of your patch notes from the newest update of vorpx and the easy functionality you’ve just untroduced does not apply to Witcher, correct?)

MarcoParticipantSomeone here mentioned rocket league. I follow some guys instructions on reddit a while ago and it’s been great so far. I just took a look again though and notice it seems to be running at 45 fps no matter the resolution I set it too. Tried to disable ASW didn’t help. Runs better if I set SteamVR mode in vorpx, so weird.
I think it might have to do with the fact that I cannot disable the “mirror to window” anymore. It seems to make the title choppy.
I’ve noticed the same thing with few games (VIVE). Bioshock: Infinite, everything works great but i am not sure if i can get 90 FPS anymore, and my guess is that often i am playing with 45 no matter what i set in the options. I can’t really tell because it’s nice and smooth anyway but i remember the difference was obvious when doing a comparison. I also notice a drop in performances with Dishonored, which i also thoght was related to the forced mirrored image.

RalfKeymaster@ Immersivegamer : Thanks for the kind words. I can’t promise anything regarding the controller mapping, but I will think about it. There are a couple of things to consider here. The two most important ones are that for one profiles/mappings are supposed to always work on Touch and Vive wands (and potential future devices) the same way, which limits options a bit. The other one is that I always try to find a balance between desirable customization and the ‘too-many-options-issue’ that somewhat plagues vorpX already. Always a tough decision to not offer a specific option that sounds absolutely useful on it’s own, but sometimes there may be a greater good that speaks against it. That said, your suggestion is worth to be considered, I just can’t promise something here and now.
BTW: If you can live without the DPAD, you can disable the “Allow Left Stick Shift” option, which will maintain the left stick’s normal functionality with the shift button pressed.
Not sure about your gamepad issue in Fallout NV. Seems to work as intended here in both keyboard/mouse mode as well as in gamepad mode, at least in a short test. Stupid question: did you enable the gamepad in the Fallout NV options?
The Bioshock Infinite Direct VR profile seems to be a bit wonky indeed. I almost feared that while doing it, but included it anyway since the game is just too good in VR. I’ll definitely check whether something can be done about the cutscenes issue. Having to restart the game after each cutscene isn’t good. Fingers crossed that there is a way to address it. If there is one, it will be done.
@ Tigger : Two reasons for the visible controllers: 1. It feels a lot more real if you actually see something, even if no physical interaction is possible. 2. The controllers always show the current button mapping, which I consider essential unless you know it inside out. There probably will be optional, more fitting representations for different types of games in the future (maybe wooden wands for fantasy games, a pistol for shooters etc.) for people who don’t need to see the mapping anymore, but there definitely should be something. It adds a lot.

sparkyhodgoParticipantI can’t get Bioshock 2 to go more than about 10 seconds in-game without crashing. It’s beautiful while it lasts but not at all playable. Anyone find a solution? (I read elsewhere that pausing the watcher might help)
Note: after playing around, if you pause the VorpX watcher Bioshock 2 works better (ie lets you access the esc menu) but still crashes after a short time.
