Just thought id post this up because I had issues with desktop viewer since I got my laptop a year or so ago and haven’t used vorpx because of this until I found a fix a way to disable igpu. Disable it through Nvidia control panel go to display settings then change it from auto or optimal to dedicated graphics card. No more desktop viewer black screen
Using desktop viewer with watcher paused so I can view Emulators, I can double click full screen with pcsx2 no problem but when I do the same with Rpcs3 it automatically closes and vorpx exits desktop viewer. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem or resolved it?
For anyone who runs into the same problem: I finally solved it. If UAC is disabled, the virtual monitor / desktop viewer will not work. This is the first program I’ve encountered like that. It’s counterintuitive since that opens up more access, but in this case, it locks it off. That’s unfortunate, since UAC is frequently nag city and not particularly necessary when you’re monitoring what you use and have antivirus, firewall and malware scanning, but at least I know how to solve it now.
In the meantime, Virtual Display Driver might be a good alternative since that doesn’t require it to be enabled.
Just an update: I completely reinstalled my OS and this is still happening. Following the troubleshooting advice, in the vorpService.log it says the following over and over when trying to launch the desktop viewer:
ERR: createProcessAsUserWithAdminRights: retrieving the excution token failed: -3
It seems like something on my system is preventing it from launching. Again, I should have full admin rights to launching everything. Is there some Windows service the virtual monitor depends on to launch or something? I’m low on ideas of what to do here.
Have had vorpx since 2021. Didn’t really use it much since my rig wasn’t good enough.
Finally have a good rig. Trying to play Need For Speed Unbound and Hogwarts Legacy.
Both games hook successfully but show horizontal colored lines.
I’ve tried disabling FrameGen / DLSS / VSync / Motion Blur / etc to no success.
Could some vorpx setting like desktop viewer be causing this?
If the game is already split into 3D SBS with another tool, you can just run Vorpx desktop viewer in SBS mode (through settings) and pause the watcher.
That’s the two options you have. Either using the desktop viewer and exclude the .exe or creating your own profile from the SBS base profile. If the latter works without the other app actually creating a conflict, you can simply ignore the warning. Be aware though that using two fairly deep D3D hooks at the same time in a game is basically asking for trouble.
You probably tried the third potential option, so just in case, since you didn’t mention it: you could also try to create a Z3D profile based on the TLOU 1 profile. The Uncharted profile might also be worth a shot for that.
I upgraded yesterday to the latest version (from v21.xx), and i’m loving the new Desktop Viewer’s performance and syncing. Great work, Ralf! With the impending Steam Frame, i can see myself spending much time again with this software, that’s been my “main driver” for so many years in the past.
Could use a bit of help though: I’m trying to get “The Last Of Us Part 2” running with VorpX, but can’t find a profile, so i followed your advice to make a copy of the generic SBS profile and run the game with that.
I’m using a tool that translates the game into a stereo3D SBS stream which i’m trying to play with VorpX, but VorpX tries to hook into the game and finds the extra DLL of this tool, and nothing works.
Workaround was to *exclude* the game EXE from VorpX watcher. Start VorpX Desktop, then from there start the game. VorpX is still giving me warning messages about a foreign DLL found, but at least it’s working, and the performance is good.
What’s the best way to approach this and minimize the friction and potential errors? It’s very umständlich atm. :)
I have resent your original key.
Please keep the mail this time or save the key somewhere. You only need a new key when your request code changes, e.g. after changing vital hardware. No need to ask for a new key while your request code is still the same as before.
My Meta Quest 3 had a critical error which resulted in me factory resetting my headset. The VorpX program on my PC gave me an error which prompted me to request a new download link, which I have just installed 25.1.2.0. Now it is asking me for a Key. I sent the Request Code to [removed for spam protection] yet I have not received a response. Can someone help me out?
Ok, still having issues with the latest Pimax Play software (this can all be negated by using the version 1.40.1, but it is frustrating to not be able to use the latest PP). The issue seems to be with just Vorpx. With the latest Pimax Play, I can launch Vorpx virtual desktop just fine, it works, but when I launch any game through virtual desktop, all I get is a fuzzy\blurry screen (it is not pixelated, it is blurred so much that I can’t make anything out). Games start thought, the Vorpx homeroom starts, I can hear the game music starting and it is working but the visual are just a blur. Now I thought this was because of all the new functions that Pimax introduced, but I have turned those off completely (GPU scaling \ Sharpening). Any ideas, Ralf, anyone? I am again reverting back to 1.40.1 to be able to play anything with Vorpx but maybe this is something to check out what is causing this. Other VR stuff works just fine with the latest Pimax Play.
“Any chance you could add an option to specify the width of the virtual screen without fixed ratio restrictions?”
Hear, hear! Would be nice to able to define any custom resolution for the virtual monitor \ desktop to use :)
I just tested it.
So it works, but it’s harder than usual.
Full VR took me a few seconds to configure (adjust FOV, resolution and headtracking speed), but 3D was a lot harder.
I think it’s an OpenGL game, and I’m surprised it works.
It was kind of tricky.
First of all I can’t test the profile on the cloud because I still use V24.1 and Cloud doesn’t work with it anymore :(
I derived the official “Machine for Pigs” profile in the local tab and I assigned “AmnesiaTheBunker.exe” (“Add File” button).
Only “G3D” works with this game. It’s probably not usual G3D, and not as impressive as DX9 (or 11) games. But it doesn’t seem to break any shader and it’s clear&sharp.
At first, 3D was flickering, so I had to configure a few things. It may be different for you, but I had good results with :
– 2775×2772 resolution (I usually use 4:3 ratio but this time I needed “1:1”).
– There is an option in the ingame menu page 2 named “Game HUD Depht”. I used 0.8 to 0.85
It seemed to affect 3D strenght.
– I also used 1.4 to 1.5 3D strenght in Geometry (Full VR tab). Usually 0.8 to 1.0 are enough. These settings are unusual.
I used max Clarity FX and Sharpness, and lowered VorpX’s Gamma.
It may be some kind of alternate rendering but I didn’t noticed it at the end (with a good framerate). I guess Refresh Rate may impact the 3D if it’s not properly configured.
I think you shouldn’t use too high resolution. I had problems with 3840p. The game is clear enough even at lower resolutions anyway.
Don’t forget to use the Virtual Monitor (VorpX Desktop Viewer before hooking) if you need it to reach the desired resolution. If you hook with this profile, you’ll have the G3D option.
… im not using virtual moniter since many games dont let me pick display 2 …
For that reason with default settings vorpX can disable your actual display when the virtual display is used. The easiest way to trigger that is launching the vorpX desktop viewer and then simply putting on your headset.
Make sure ‘Enable Virtual Monitor’ and ‘Activate when you put on your headset’ are both checked on the Virtual Monitor page of the config app. That would be the default settings.
