Hi, I am trying to use vorpx with HTC Vive Pro 2.

    There are two main problems:

    1. Geometry mode not working at all (tested on Skyrim and The Outer Worlds) – the same issue – inside VR glasses game freezed on a single frame, while in the same time on a PC all works perfectly good with high fps – while I move headset game camera moves and etc.

    2. With Z-Buffer modes images looks blurry, it is close to the development kits with ultra low resolutions, something definitely not okay here too.

    I have RTX 3080, 32GB RAM, Ryzen 5600X

Please help me to fix that and start to use your software

    1. If it works in Z-Buffer mode, it can’t really be a headset specific issue. How vorpX interacts with the headset is unrelated to the 3D method. More likely that some program on your PC interferes by also hooking into games. The trouble shooting guide on top of this sub forum has more details on the matter.

    2. You have to run games at higher resolutions for better image clarity. Games run at the resolution set in their graphics/video options, not at your headset’s display resolution. If you don’t have a 4K monitor that allows you to set high resolutions, check the ‘Custom Resolutions’ section in the vorpX help for a step-by-step guide regarding adding higher resolutions than your monitor allows. Caveat: key here is finding the right balance between performance and image clarity, G3D + super high resolutions can be extremely demanding performance wise.

    1. Actually vorpx manual says clearly – it can affect only hook at all, if it works – then there are no problems with in a game hook. And it works, as I mentioned z-buffer mode working. Also i tired to close everything exceptr VR and the game – the same problem with geometry mode persist so it is definitly a problem specificly for this headset, because I can not find nothing close to this problem reported before with different headsets.

So please help me to solve this.

    2. Okay, I will try this.

That’s the most common issue with interfering progams, but with G3D more/other functions are hooked, so there are more things that can go wrong when another program is also hooked into a game. Just disable/uninstall everything running in the background that might potentially interfere.

Since it works in Z3D mode it’s highly unlikely that your issue is a headset specific issue. There is no difference at all regarding how vorpX sends images to the headset in G3D mode compared how it does that in Z3D mode.

I just tested it with my old windows mixed reality headset from Lenovo, all works perfectly. No lags, zero problems and image are sharp! Not blurry like with HTC Vive Pro 2. Also the are no problem with single frame freezed like it is in HTC Vive Pro 2 with geometry mode.

So now I am sure for 100% it is headset related problem, vorpx needs to add support for HTC Vive Pro 2 because now it is not working properly and actually better to have 2 years old headset in case you want to use vorpx… at the moment image really much better in Lenovo headset with vorpx.

Also I uninstalled nearly everything – it does not change anything – in Lenovo all is okay, in HTC Vive Pro 2 some shit happens.

So please help me to fix problem with my headset.

Please create a trouble shoot data archive in the vorpX config app and send that to support at vorpX com. I’ll take a look at it next week and let you know if the log files show anything unusual that might help with your problem.

I need to make it during the problem occurence or at some other point? Also i can do two so you can compare – with Lenovo geometry mode during gaming when all is okay, and second one with HTC when it freeze – thats will help?

The archive has to be created after the issue occurred. Sending one for each headset would be great. While I can see what headset is active in the logs, two distinct archives for your Lenovo and your Vive headset make things easier.

to create two distinct archives simply restart vorpX when you switch headsets, that will clear the log files.

Just briefly checked the log. There is a bunch of stuff running that obviously falls in the categories mentioned in the touble shooting guide as potentially interfering (e.g. MSI Afterburner, Skype, Slack). The logfiles are of no use in regard to checking for other issues as long as obvious trouble maker tools like Afterburner are running.

Please check the trouble shooting guide again in that respect. If the issue still occurs afterwards, please resend logfiles without potentially interfering backgrounds tasks running. Rule of thumb: disable everything you have running in the background that doesn’t actually belong to Windows.

Please also check whether your Lenovo headset works with SteamVR instead of OpenXR, that’s a good way to check whether the issue is really headset related.

Last but not least please check whether all SteamVR settings are at their default values. Judging from the log files there is some SteamVR supersampling active, which looks kind of odd considering the headset’s already high native resolution.

Ofcourse I installed them back after figure out that they do not change nothing (MSI Afterburner and all other staffs, I do not see any reason to uninstall them again, all works with them and do not works if I uninstall them, they do not change anything).

If it some how will make logs more usable I can do that… but rly do not see why.

I will try Lenovo with Steam VR. Rly a lot of hassle =) But will do

“Last but not least please check whether all SteamVR settings are at their default values. Judging from the log files there is some SteamVR supersampling active, which looks kind of odd considering the headset’s already high native resolution.”

Actually it is default steam vr settings for my PC configuration, 150%. And yes I already sent several logs for HTC headset with and without supersampling, as mentioned in a email so it makes no differents actually – freeze remains.

Just sent Lenovo log – it runs with steam VR, including supersampling, MSI afterburner and all other staffs – no problems at all!

So now all the same except headset.

Also I want to say that 150% it is recomandation from HTC for Vive Pro 2, they mentioned it needed to have best image because of distortions compensations.

Doesn’t matter whether the Lenovo headset works with the other apps running.

As suggested above please disable everything that doesn’t belong to Windows. If the issue still occurs afterwards, please resend a trouble shoot data archive without the other apps running. Your log files are of no use for me in regard to checking for other issues while there are potentially interfering programs running unfortunately.

As i mentioned here I already did that, I even uninstalled all the apps – it does not matter.

Why you continue to mentioned that?

This particular issue does not have any relation to the apps.

Because the second logfile you sent still was a log file with Afterburner and all your other background tasks running. Your log files are of no use for me in regard to checking for other issues while there are potentially interfering programs running unfortunately.
