ParticipantRecently, VorpX stopped working for me. Possible since a Windows 10 update.
The Control is not running, when manually trying to start “vorpControl.exe”, it display a windows application error message saying:
“The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.”When trying to start vorpX Config, I get a similiar error message saying:
“vorpX does not seem to be properly installed. Retrieving some config data failed. Please reinstall the application.”I have already reinstalled en rebooted multiple times. Tried to install on both the default and on different folders.
Anyone else have this issue? Is there anything I can try?

KeymasterSounds suspiciously like one of those antivirus programs that chose to be more of an annoyance than helpful. If you happen to use anything else than Windows Defender, make sure to exclude the vorpX program folder. Even better: get rid of the invasive third party AV altogether. For all normal intents and purposes Defender is more than enough since a decade. Windows Defender will kick in automatically when removing third party AV.

ParticipantThank you for reply. I am only using Windows Defender and haven’t used anything else recently.
It looked like it happened somewhere after a windows update, so I was kind of worried that it might actually be Windows Defender messing things up. But if that would be the case, I would expect many more reports of this kind of issues.
I have no idea what else to try, so I’m open to any suggestions.

ParticipantI’m afraid not. Tried all kinds of things and multiple reinstalls. No cigar yet.

Participant+1 I have the same issue
I have no AV running apart from Windows defender,
I used the latest install link just requested yestartday.
The installer says it’s for VorpX version 21.3.5.0 – Is that the latest one though?Sep 9, 2024 at 2:58pm #220258BaraB
ParticipantJust to add more info for this topic, upon starting VorpX after the fresh install and the error message the OP quoted, I also get the following messages popping up:
– MSVCP140.dll was not found
– VCRUNTIME140.dll was not foundI hope it helps to narrow down the issue.

KeymasterPlease make sure to be online while installing vorpX. If necessary the installer downloads potentially missing dependencies like the VC runtime.

ParticipantI’m definitely online. Today I also tried the beta version, with the exact same error messages as a result when trying to start config or the app.

KeymasterThen for whatever reason either the VC download failed or your Windows registry is broken so that the installer couldn’t determine whether it needs to download the VC runtime or not.
Check the link below. BOTH the x86 and x64 versions are required.

Participant@Ralf thank you so much for those links
I downloaded “Latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Version” for both x86 and x64, installed them both and chose “repair”.
Then did a reboot, reinstalled VorpX 21.3.5.0 and now VorpX configuration opens again.
Everything seems to working fine again <3Sep 18, 2024 at 8:06am #220333Zel1984
ParticipantAfter a windows update when i tried to start VorpX (24.1.0) my screen would just go black, no error messages or anything & i would have to restart my computer, just installed the x86 & x64 versions linked by Ralf above & it is working again so the culprit seems to be a recent windows update that was causing the issue for me.

KeymasterThat sounds more like something related to the new virtual monitor in 24.1.0. Did that happen out of the blue or did you use e.g. the vorpX desktop viewer before it happened?
Depending on the configuration of the virtual monitor your actual display may switch off on purpose when you use the virtual monitor. The actual display in that case should turn on again when you take off your headset though normally. Note that this won’t work right if the headset’s proximity sensor is covered or doesn’t work for other reasons.

ParticipantIt happened out of the blue, i restarted my computer a few times then tried to start VorpX but screen would just go black, in my headset (rift S) i could see the oculus menu but i could not get to my desktop to do anything, trying to view the desktop in the headset only showed a black screen with some orange symbol in the centre so all i could do was restart the computer.
Since i downloaded & repaired from the link you provided above i have not had the problem again.

ParticipantI just tried to start VorpX & suffered the same problem so looks like i was wrong, downloading & repairing using the link you provided did not fix my problem, i think there was a recent oculus/meta driver update, maybe that has something to do with it.
