    I don’t know if it’s important or if it’s even related, but since the last update (19.1.0) there isn’t anymore rift controller settings.

    Prior the 19.1.0 version, you could turn on/off the rift controllers (I would always turn them off) and a bunch of other settings, but since the new version, on the rift controllers tab, there aren’t any settings anymore.

    There is just a line with some info (not always the same) that you can’t change.

    Again, I don’t know if that matters.

    (Sorry again if it’s a double post, I always have problem posting on that forum)

    Thanks for the reply.

    It is not a hotkey issue as I never use the keyboard and only use my Xbox One controller. The only change I make is instead of using the thumbstick buttons, I use start/back (can that be set as default by the way?).

    Anyway the problem happens, as I said, specifically when I find an item with stats (so everything except money and ammo).

    But to be sure, I reseted the game profile, ran the game without changing any vorpX settings, and to my surprise it worked just fine.

    I then added my usual tweaks in the vorpX settings, and the geometry 3D was still working, no more problem :O

    I then saved my settings, quit and restarted the game, and saddly the problem was back :(

    As it was a problem with the setings I was using, I spent a couple of hours running some tests and I finally pinpointted the problem: the resolution !

    By default, vorpX sets the game resolution to 1680p (2240×1680), but the result isn’t very good (to my taste) with a lot of jaggies and a not very sharp picture. So instead, and as my new graphic card can handle it, I created some extra custom resolutions, and for Borderlands I use a narrow custom resolution of 2058×2160 (the game is not very well optimized and the 4:3 and 16:9 2160p resolutions don’t run well, also I had to edit the config file of the game to have the game running without stutters even without vorpX).

    The result of my tests is that I have to start the game at default vorpX resolution, and once the direct scan is done, I can change the resolution to 2058×2160 and the game will work just fine with geometry 3D.

    The only problem is that I have sometime to start the games 10 times to play with those settings as I noticed that when the second direct VR scan (field of view scan I think) fails the first time, it will never work and I have to start the game again.
    Also after that the direct scan is successful, quite often when I change the resolution (has to be done after the direct VR scan to keep the geometry 3D working), the game will just hang and won’t work in the headset anymore (it will still work on the TV screen though).

    Still, it’s a weird bug as just looking at the the stats of an item deactivates the geometry 3D, but if I put back the “normal” resolution (2240×1680) when that happens, the geometry 3D will come back.

    In the vorpX settings, the default game resolution goes up to 1680p, you could maybe add 2160p ?

    So for now I can play again using the trick (changing the resolution AFTER the direct scan), but I’ll keep you informed if I find anything else.

    I don’t know if its relevant, but here are the other settings I change in vorpX for that game:

    Sharpen amount 1.50
    Game hud scale 0.895
    Game hud scale horizontal 0.50
    Game hud depth 0.00

    G3D shadow treatment No S3D

    ——————————————————

    Also here are the changes I made in the config file to have the game run without stutters (not vorpX related):

    Location C:\Users\”your_user”\Documents\My Games\Borderlands\WillowGame\Config\WillowEngine.ini

    [AppCompat]
    MeasuredCPUScore=xxxx.xxxxx (leave it as it is)
    CompatLevelComposite=5
    CompatLevelCPU=5
    CompatLevelGPU=5

    [Engine.GameEngine]
    bSmoothFrameRate=FALSE
    MinSmoothedFrameRate=0
    MaxSmoothedFrameRate=0

    I tried the main game but the problem is the same.

    When I open a locker, a chest or safe containing an item with stats ‘weapon, shield, mod…) the geometry 3D just turns off :O

    I had made some tweaks in the nVidia panel for Borderlands so reseted them, but that didn’t change anything either.

    That’s weird that the games runs well in geometry 3D but as soon you find a new object with stats (it’s not a problem with amno or money) the geometry is deactivated.

    I forgot to mention (I don’t know if it’s important) that I’m playing the DLC The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned.
    I’ll try the main game after work today and I’ll keep you informed.

    As at the moment I couldn’t play Borderlands because of the weird bug, I started playing The Darkness II again as I saw it was supported by the last update.

    The game doesn’t have Direct VR so I play in cinematic mode instead, but with the geometry working again, it’s a lot a fun seeing the tentacules ripping the mobs in halves in 3D.

    Thanks for fixing the profile :)

    So I ended up formating my SSD and installing windows and all the drivers and softwares back, sadly the glitch is still present.
    So it’s definitely a display defect with my headset.

    Thank you again for yor help, and sorry for the trouble.
    Again, it appeared just after I forced closed vorpX, and the glitch looked quite similar to a corrupted vorpx logo, so I really thought it was linked.

    Now I have a last problem, I can’t use vorpX anymore as it won’t accept my identification codes. I sent an email to the support.

    I really want to keep playing Darksiders II with vorpX, as when I was waiting for the Oculus software to install, I had to play the pancake version, and it was quite disapointing and flat compared to the 3D version.

    Sorry maybe my explanations weren’t clear enough (sorry, English is not my mother tongue), but it is not a lens reflection as the “glitch” is not just in a particular game or vorpX mode, it’s present everywhere, all the time, always at the same place.
    It’s in the Oculus Home, in any “real” VR games, any vorpX mode, just “floating” in front of my face.
    As I said, it looks a bit like the semi translucent vorpX logo that’s next to the mouse pointer, but bigger. It’s as if the logo had glitched and was stuck there.
    Also it appeared, as I explained, just after I forced closed vorpX as it was trying to attach to a VR game.

    Sorry if it’s a double post, it says duplicate reply but it’s not displayed :o

    Thanks for your answers.

    I finally installed all the Oculus software back, but no luck, the problem is still present.

    As you advised Ralf, I turned off the Shader cache in the Nvidia settings (and even deleted all the files in the NV_Cache folders), but it didn’t work neither.

    I even uninstalled Steam, but with no result either. The worse it’s deleted all my steam games as well, I have to download them again :-\

    I manage to take a screenshot (thanks both for you help) but the “thing” doesn’t appear on it.
    So here is a picture I took with my phone (sorry for the quality):

    The problem

    I’m out of ideas, I really hope I won’t have to format my computer (it’ll be a hassle to backup and restore everything, but if there is no other solution ;-(

    Thanks for the replies guys.

    I did a factory reset of vorpX but it didn’t work.

    I also unisntalled the Nvidia softwares and installed them back, removed Oculus Tray Tool, but that didn’t work neither.

    The problem is still present and it’s quite annoying.
    I think it’s the vorpX logo but I’m not sure, it’s too small and fainted to read, but on a bright background, you can only see that.
    It looks (though a bit different) like the small vorpX logo that is attached to the mouse pointer when you are in the vorpX settings.

    That logo (or water mark) appeared after I launched a VR game and I saw that vorpX was trying to attach to it, so I forced closed vorpX, and then the rest of the softwares. When I put the headset back, I noticed the problem right away.

    When it happened, were running :

    Oculus Home
    Oculus Tray Tool
    the game (adr1ft)
    Steam VR (started automatically)
    Geforce Experience (started automatically, don’t use it, I only had my Nvidia yesterday)
    Vorpx (started automatically)

    As nothing above worked, I decided to uninstall the Oculus softaware and install it back, but it’ll take all night with my crappy internet connection.

    If you have any other ideas ?

    PS: is it possible to take a screenshot of what I see in the headset ?

    Just to clarify things, I’m not talking about the logo that appears on the PC screen, I’m talking about a small logo that is always displayed in my headset, all the time.

    Thanks for the reply.

    So I’ll wait for the fixed profile.
    Not a big problem at the moment, I have a lot of other games waiting to be played in VR.

    And sorry for the late answer, been busy playing games in VR ;)
