Hey man, Vorpx has its quirks and takes some effort to make the most of, but of all the third party 3D drivers it is by far the best available and requires the least amount of hassle. So in that regard I have to agree with OP.. Vorpx is the best and its gets better with every update.

Heack in only 6 hours I’m going to be enjoying fallout 4 is glorious virtual reality, even if its only z3d it will destroy the 2D monitor experience.

Also Looking for good fallout 4 support. Looks like its using a modified Oblivion/skyrim engine so maybe Raf can get it running..

Fallout 4 will be looked into when it becomes available.

Out of the box it will probably work in 2D. For more a profile will be needed.

I also hope to gain good support for Fallout 4
It is one of the most anticipated games this year for many people.
I wish that this game especially, receive support with a good profile that allows the possibility of 3D geometry.

I guess I’m wondering what the plan is as far as getting it running in Vorpx. I personally am considering holding off playing it until its working in VR and that wait will be excruciating! Hopefully since its so similar to Skyrim’s engine, it won’t be too hard.

I can confirm Vorpx has settled down and runs as it should since I stopped the AV sandbox. Also Vorpx does change the FOV via optimisations page.

    Fallout 3 looks very good.

No, to get better performance you will have to lower graphics settings.

If you use mods for Fallout, you should also check whether some of them are maybe particularly bad in regard to performance. For example HD texture packs, graphics enhancers and things like that.

    Hello

I have some problems with Fallout New Vegas. Normal when I play I have 80-95 fps, but when I play on DK2 with vorpx 0.9, my fps is 35-55.

    My spec:
    i5 2500K 4,5Ghz
    gtx 970 OC
    8 GB Ram

I try turn off anty-alising,v-sync and change to Z-normal but don’t any change on fps. This is normal?

One very important thing regarding the “zoomed in” effect, that almost everyone misses, including me, is calibrating IPD in vorpX’s ingame menu. So do calibrate your IPD following the on-screen instructions, trust me…it does wonders to the resulting image both for FOV and 3D depth and presence feeling.

I tried a few games like Crysis, Fallout 3, BF3, BF4 etc and no matter what methods I used for improving FOV, including FOV enhancement tools and vorpX’s FOV options and zoom, it still felt a bit “zoomed in”, especially on close range objects.
So after finishing the whole BF3 campaign using Flawless Widescreen set to max FOV, Letterbox 1 aspect ratio, 2D FOV-Enhancement and 85 % image zoom, I started BF4 (same settings) which had better 3D definition but after playing for a while, the “zoomed in” feeling became kind of annoying and broke the immersion. Besides that I also got some blurry vision for half an hour after playing, until my eyes readjusted.

Then I started messing with Calibrate IPD option from page 2 (display) and found that 64.00 which is the default average for most males was wrong, so I re-calibrated using the on-screen instructions and ended up at 60.75 where the cross was perfectly visible and most clear (I do not suffer from any vision issues, I see very sharp, near and far).I was stunned by the result as the “zoomed-in” issue was completely gone, the FOV was just like as in an Oculus native supported game like Alien Isolation or HL2. I was stunned even more when I instantly noticed a huge improvement to 3D depth, the distance from my face to every object in the 3D environment was very clear which is a huge boost for presence feeling. And after playing for a couple of hours without any pause, when I exited, the blurry vision was greatly diminished and it completely disappeared in 1-2 minutes.

So this is the most important thing to do besides setting the FOV. You might end up higher than me, closer to 62-63…in my case, might be the VR Cover cloth which I applied over the DK2 and puts a bit of higher distance between the lens and the eyes, although the VR native games didn’t gave me any problems with the 64 IPD default setting in Oculus profile. I’m not sure how that is possible, maybe it differs from one game to the next, but the result is amazing.

Looks like you’re right! Every game has been massively zoomed-in and even after I spent hours last night following the advice to change FOV in game, in vorpx or by modding game ini, it made absolutely no difference. So after finding your advice here I went in to metro ll and adjusted the IPD (haven’t used the in-game calibrate yet – i simply increased the IPD and now the game doesn’t look zoomed in anymore. Also changed the z-buffer mode and increased 3d effect. So many people are posting here about zoomed-in problems and the standard advice to mod FOV isn’t working. Well done for sorting it out!

A few months ago I was playing through Fallout New Vegas with vorpx and had everything set up perfectly. I had a few mods installed, some ini tweaks, and used HUD Scaling in vorpx to fit the HUD into my view in game. This allowed me to see the info I needed and use the dialogue options without using EdgePeak. The only problem I ever had was with the pip-boy which was hard to use without EdgePeak but that was manageable.

Anyways, I’m using Windows 10 now and have updated to vorpx 0.9. Fallout New Vegas is still working very smoothly with vorpx, BUT HUD scaling now hides the dialogue text options. As you scale down the HUD, every selectable text option in the game slowly gets hidden behind some invisible plane the more you scale it down. A little frustrated since this problem was not present in the previous version of vorpx.

I have been messing with a bunch of different UI mods to try and get something useable without EdgePeak but haven’t gotten anywhere near how effective it was before. Does anyone know if there is a way to use HUD scaling without hiding the options in vorpx 0.9? Or alternatively some mods that make the game a little more VR friendly?

TL;DR VorpX 0.9 HUD scaling hides selectable text options and didn’t in the past.

I had some trouble getting vorpX .9 going but not from vorpx it was nvidea. I had to do a try a few updates before I got it all ironed out. That and the oculus updates I had to juggle around some…

That being said some of my personal favorites with vorpx are:
Skyrim (If you like Skyrim wait till your in it)

Fallout NV (Same as Skyrim, if your a fan, this is amazing)

Dishonored (Great stealth game and has great combat and atmosphere)

Dying Light (Scary. Bring under pants.)

Alien Isolation (Scarier, mod your chair to hold a bed pan under it)

Bioshock Infinite (This game is so beautiful in the rift my eyes cant take it, great combat, story, amazing game)

GTA V (What is there to say, its VR GTA V lol, a lot of fun)

All have G3D except for GTA V. All that means is it has a “better” 3D appearance(although much more demanding). The reason g3D is great is because you can use positional tracking, leaning in and out and all that. Making for a really fun new way to play all your favorite games.

As far as cheer leading for vorpX, its the internet. People like to shit on stuff constantly. VR is one of those things that needs to be done right or you hate it. People who hate stuff are the loudest and sometimes its damaging to the idea as a whole. Honestly Oculus should of had something like vorpX included or working on at least.. So when people pile hate on poor Ralf I just think why not point that at Oculus for more or less having there heads up there bums about certain things lol Anyway really, hand to god, vorpX works and is the main ingredient to a happy healthy vr life lol

Ran over some of my favs real quick to see how they did against the new updates:
    Bioshock Inf
    Fallout NV
    Skyrim
    Dishonored
    Dying Light

All work and hook normal, direct mode is cool(extended never was an issue for me but this is way nicer). The games all seemed to really run great. Super smooth and clear, it was fine before, but now Something just feels so much smoother. The view mode so people can watch is perfect too! Time for some serious VR sessions with the dudes now that you can see what the person is doing. Really lovin it so far, great job.

Why don’t we give him more time for the next Release, I mean something close after Fallout 4 Release? ;-)
