Yes, BO 1 was the only other COD besides MW3 that worked with geometry 3d for me at this stage. Ghosts (worked when I ran vorpx NOT as administrator), BO 2 and have z-buffer and COD 2, MW, WAW and MW2 wouldn’t hook but I didn’t spend a whole lot of time trying if it didn’t hook right away. Would love to Ghosts SP especially in geometry 3d as that has almost perfect 3d rendering with nvidia 3d vision anyway. The earlier titles have more issues with problematic shaders in stereo 3d like BO 1 has halos if smoke is in the background but it’s not bad.
BO 1 for some reason only has an fov slider for MP but you can bind a key in the config file for SP by adding a line like: bind 1 “cg_fov 90” to toggle a higher fov but you have to hit the key you assigned each time a level loads.
MW3 is more cinematic and realistic looking but BO1 also has a combat training mode in MP where you can set up bot matches for any of the multiplayer maps (can also turn off the hud for more immersion) as well as zombie mode so it has good replay value in that respect.
Works and looks amazing in Geometry mode…however when in an outdoor scene with objects very far away the framerate dropped a lot to like what looks like 15 fps or below..but focus on a scene where there are only close up objects and the framerate was back to solid.
In COD MW3 I noticed no such slowdown with large outdoor and underwater scenes. Could be that the newer Black Ops game was more demanding on GPU and CPU? I also noticed no transparent outline halo images around objects with Black Ops 1, whereas with COD MW3 I get the those slight visual anomalies.
So basically I’d still prefer play COD MW3, hoping for a fix to remove those ghosting images.
Also at the present time COD: Ghosts simply doesn’t get recognized by vorpx dk2, for me at least.
Thank you for everything Ralf. I am loving playing with my DK2 with vorpx. I went through the entirety of Bioshock Infinite with vorpx on my DK1 and it was my best vr experience and I am reinstalling it for uses on the DK2 now.
I spent some time playing bioshock infinite myself…I ended up disabling the dynamic shadows because apparently the game produced different shadows on the left than the right eye making some people and objects look a little wierd. There are still static shadows in the game so it wasn’t too bad.
I thought BIOSHINF was the shit until I tried Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, there are underwater sequences where you take over a sub and then turbulence aboard an airplane…you really need to give it a go. I actually liked it better than BIOSHINF. However it does have some minor display issues like for some reason while looking around you might see a ghost halo effect on the left or right of some objects…the same happens in Mirror’s Edge but the 3D effects are so good they are easily ignorable. Ralf, if you are reading this…will you be customizing COD MW3 and Mirrors Edge at some point so that they will be as good as Bioshock Infinite without those ghost halo outlines appearing around some objects, or is that a problem with the particular game engine?
This is FANTASTIC news… downloading and testing now.
Mahalo!
Halo 2 would be amazing in the Rift… I wish they would release Halo Reach for the PC, but any Halo would be great, especially in 3D!
That’s great Ralf and Halo PC runs DX9 (I hope that’s what my pc tells me) as well as Halo 2 PC just to help you out a bit. :)
But as you said no promises, I respect that. You have the overall project to focus on and perfect.
You have my hopes up a lot!
Thank you
Ralf???
Thank God that you are still with us! :)
Hi Kris,
Halo 1 is DirectX8, so unfortunately it won’t work for the first release version (might change in the future), but I will look into Halo 2, which uses DX9, I believe. No promises though. ;)
Halo CE PC and Halo 2 PC support would be nice!
Love how someone has gone out of the way to make so many games available for the Rift!
These games are perfect for VR and because of the scifi I think it would be very enjoyable.
Imagine the HUD right in your face or even an Elite or Grunt
Anyways I just hope this could happen and get vorpX support I’m a huge VR fan and Halo fan and I love how vorpX can let you play almost anything!!!
Hello Ralf! For me, head movement in the game, much less important than the excellent 3D picture. (Albeit with low frame rate) I think you should strive to this conclusion 3D images (2 full-frame) in all supported games. All other methods of artificial output 3D – just awful. Especially in games in the first person! (Halo, transparent objects are not displayed in 3D (glass, water, dust, fog, light, smoke, blood, and other sprites!) As I understand it, your output method of stereoscopic images is similar to that used in CRYSIS 2,3 and many games on consoles … Did you see coming out of the screen looks like a weapon in CRYSIS 3 in 3D?
I am willing to pay thousands of dollars for moschny PC – just not to see artificial 3D!
People like me, think it’s not enough …
Sorry, a little harsh, but that is the reality. 3D quality should not be worse than the NVIDIA 3D VISION. And please! Add a function separate convergence of weapons from the world, the games in the first person. That there was no effect “Guliver”!
Many thanks Ralf!
