BondalfParticipantRalph,
In fact, i did some others tests : seems if i launch mass effect Andromeda before, i can run mass effect 3. So it is not a problem as i can have run it with this tip.
But you probably right, i have something wrong somewhere. For Mass Effect 3, i will do like this, just launching Mass Effect Andromeda before, it is not a problem.
If i have others issues on others games, i will check more in detail what i can have that provide this issue.
Thanks for your help.

BondalfParticipantok so i think it is just me (but forgot that).
As i have ME Andromeda, i tried it too. (but before i launched steam that i did not before). I saw that Andromeda was working. So i try again Mass Effect 3, and this time it is running !
So seems linked to the fact that i had not steam running ! (even if Mass Effect 3 is not installed via Steam but Origin)

BondalfParticipantHello,
A long time ago, i can run without problem Mass Effect 2 and 3 but today, Games are not hooking (games are launched via Origin)
What i did :
* Disable Origin during gameplay for the games (like i saw on another topic for someone having similar problem)
* Download the zip file that Ralph shared for Windows 10 problem and install the 2 exe files into vorpx directory
* tried to launch in windows mode the game
* tried to launch vorpx in administratorI am using a HTC Vive Cosmos. Not sure if it could be linked or not.
I tried perhaps 20 times to launch the game but vorpx could never hook it.
(principally mass effect 3, i just tried mass effect 2 to see if i have the same problem : it is the case)
(ps : i can launch the game without problem without vorpx)If someone has some ideas….

Retro5001ParticipantAgain thanks for looking into this, I feel like it should just be working, no idea what could be messing it up. A couple of things though, I’ve installed some other games through steam and all of those work perfectly fine, so it’s really just the original Mass Effect trilogy that is not working. Also, with steam vr (Using a WMR), if I alt tab and then select the “SteamVR” tab on the taskbar (which has no preview window), it will show a cursor on the monitor but not on inside of the headset.
Also when I press alt-c, nothing happens but the system makes a ding (the sound the computer makes when you try to click off of something that Windows won’t let you click off of) so something could be messing up there.
I’ve found a mod that makes the game work with a controller. I’ve installed that and it appears to work though it’s a bit glitchy, but it makes it playable. Please let me know if you run into any potential solutions in the future.
Thanks!
May 20, 2020 at 10:39pm #194762In reply to: Mass Effect 1 no mouse
RalfKeymasterNo problem with Mass Effect 1 here either. I just had to disable the Origin overlay, otherwise vorpX wouldn’t attach to the game. Didn’t really recall that to be necessary before, but maybe I just forgot about it. No cursor issue though. The vorpX cursor appeared in the main menu without changing any game settings after installing and was automatically turned off/on correctly during a brief ingame check.
So apart from the general suggestions above I’m at a loss in regard to your issue unfortunately.
May 20, 2020 at 8:25pm #194759In reply to: Mass Effect 1 no mouse
Retro5001ParticipantAppreciate you looking into this. I also had Mass Effect Andromeda downloaded, so I gave that a try and the mouse in that game works fine.
But I downloaded Mass Effect 2 and similar to the first game, no cursor. I would assume that Mass Effect 3 would be similar but I haven’t downloaded it yet to try.
May 20, 2020 at 5:34pm #194756In reply to: Mass Effect 1 no mouse
RalfKeymasterNo. In case of a ‘hardware cursor’ (which is a special way windows displays the cursors that can’t be stereo duplicated) vorpX uses its own. Most of the time vorpX can detect when it should display its own cursor, but in cases where that might fail, you can use ALT+C.
Software cursors are entirely handled by games, so they should always be visible whenever the the game sets them visible.
I’ll reinstall the game and check whether I can replicate your issue. I don’t really expect anything though. For a fairly long time Mass Effect was one of the usual test cases here. Never encountered such an issue.

Retro5001ParticipantI’ve seen some threads about no mouse in the third game, but I’m trying to get a mouse in the first one.
I’ve tried everything that I’ve seen work for others, hitting alt-c, resetting profile, turning off origin overlay and such but still no mouse. Really difficult game to play without one, any suggestions to get it working?
Thanks
May 8, 2020 at 10:21pm #194516In reply to: Decouple Head Rotation From Mouse Movement
CowPoxParticipantI believe that’s how it works with the head position tracking as well, and I would at least like an option to try this out. I know that using VorpX to increase the FOV in Mass Effect will lead to seeing the culling range of the intended FOV for objects and characters but the level itself still renders fine. With that knowledge I think that with head tracking it could work in some games with obvious issues if you stray far from the intended forward position.
I can live with this only being used to account for small, natural head movements I make when sitting comfortably, rather than for looking around the entire scene. There are definitely games that do attach culling to the viewport even when forced to move as I’ve seen videos of people hacking games like PT to explore the map for the city seen at the end and finding out that the ghost is attached to behind the cameras view to be able to create shadows in front of the character.
May 8, 2020 at 1:17am #194496In reply to: Decouple Head Rotation From Mouse Movement
CowPoxParticipantAnother great game that would benefit from such an option is Cloudpunk. It doesn’t even have mouse or stick camera control apart from when you hold down X on the keyboard and that is very slow and smoothed out for cinematic effect and only when you’re in your car also locking all game control.
Having an option to force rotate the camera would allow games like these to be more compatible in FullVR and Immersive Screen modes.
I don’t mind if my lofty ideas of a “through the window” effect are overlooked but a simple toggle for unlocking head rotation would be of massive benefit to so many games and from what I understand (could be wrong) most of the infrastructure is already there (forced head positional tracking).
May 4, 2020 at 10:44pm #194402In reply to: Decouple Head Rotation From Mouse Movement
CowPoxParticipantMass Effect 1 is the game I’ve been trying to get this working with and now that I’ve modded it for proper controller support it’s broken mouse movement in anything but the menus so any solution that uses mouse movement for head tracking will no longer work. Even when it was working, the camera is far enough away from the character that low sensitivities still feel weird and also conflict with menus where I only want to use my Xbox controller.
I didn’t think about this being exclusive to any one mode (FullVR, Immersive Screen, Cinema). I originally wanted it as the final setting to allow for a “looking through a window” effect in Cinema mode. What I mean is you lead to the left and right, the view leans with you but the screen does not. I’ve almost got there with turning on Positional Tracking as this kinda works for forwards/backward and leaning left/right. Rolling your head by default works as well, it’s just turning your head that can’t be translated into the game without it going through the games camera constraints. Getting this working 100% would probably require an offset for the camera and maybe dynamic adjustment of FOV based on distance to the screen but I understand that would be a lot of work. (Although I’d argue worth it for 100% correct 3D viewing on a virtual screen no matter head position).
Would it be possible to add an option to force these movements as well, the same way positional head movements and head roll are forced without the game’s knowledge?

dborosevParticipant@mrschneeps, @forlaunchcast,
I hate it when I start a thread telling “games these days” to get off my lawn, and it ends up being an introspective look at my own mid life crisis.(shakes fist, mumbles about kids these days, and goes back in to play the mass effect series)
Feb 13, 2020 at 6:08pm #192439Topic: Lack of quality game releases lately

dborosevParticipant(Not directly VorpX related) Is it just me, or has there been a real lack of any good games to play lately?
Maybe I’m just getting old and pickier, but actual good, meaty, massive, epic, rpg ones that I’d want to play are few and far between. A nice witcher, mass effect, deus ex, or similar would be so nice. Too bad they pushed the date of Cyberpunk back by half a year.
Hopefully this is just slow season and we see a pick up again soon.
Anyway, rant over. -
