Are you using Rift or Vive?
Is Skyrim + ENB working on the screen (not with VorpX, the normal flat screen).
Is Skyrim working without ENB with VorpX?
Which SKyrim is this – the Classic or SSE?
Are you trying to use only ENB Boost or some ENB preset?

Hi yes Skyrim (normal version legendary) , CV1 , runs fine on win10 with enb reshade and whatever. As soon as i will use it with vorpx i will have a black screen and only sound. I can use the enb boost .
I cant use any preset since enb doesnt work with vorpx
I tested several enb version including the latest 3.0XXX
I tried all settings in the proxy part, even to inject the enb twice by using the enbinjector.

    hope that helps..

@ Morderath : I’ll take a look at it, but it’s quite likely that the only way to address this is not using that mod. Everything that changes the memory layout of the game, which a mod called “Memory Fix” almost certainly does, can potentially cause issues with Direct VR.

General rule of thumb for using many mods and vorpX at the same time: if you run into odd issues, the very first thing you should do is trying an unmodded Skyrim and than add your mods back one by one to check what works and what doesn’t.

That is especially true for using super hi-res texture packs since vorpX itself and in addition to that the headset runtimes raise the GPU memory requirements considerably.

This might sound dumb, but are you running Special-Ed or Classic Skyrim? Not sure but I don’t know if SE has DIrect VR yet. Maybe that’s your issue? Fingers crossed anyway ;)

install SKSE, which includes the same functionality

That would get the game to fire but you wont have the benefits from the ENBoost. The SKSE patch and ENBoost don’t do the same things. To get the maximum potential you need to run both. If you’re modded out the wazoo you need both to get Skyrim to run without CTD.

No one else runs both patches and tried to do a scan?

I don’t use Direct VR but I’m just surprised no one else has mentioned this before. These patches I figured most people would be running at this point so to hear now there may be a hiccup is just surprising is all. In my book both are mandatory, at least on a medium to heavily modded game.

Something about the scan must be reading into the memory values that get changed by the patch or something is my guess. Hope someone can find a work around for you.

Best workaround would be to lose the d3dx9_42.dll and install SKSE, which includes the same functionality and, to the best of my knowledge, doesn’t conflict with VorpX.

If you’re already using SKSE then just make sure you have

    [Memory]
    DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768
    ScrapHeapSizeMB=256

in the SKSE ini file (in your Skyrim data -> SKSE folder).

    Title says it all.

This is the only way I get proper memory behavior with mods/HD texture packs. Otherwise I CTD. If I remove d3dx9_42 I get DirectScan back (Success).

Any workaround to force DirectScan to hook?

    Error message in log

WRN: vorpScan: Rotation scan failed. Possible values found: 0

    Thanks

So reinstalling Skyrim from scratch made no difference, but completely reinstalling Vorpx did.

Although it does seem a little zoomed in to my eyes, it is at the correct FOV now as disabling Direct VR doesn’t change the FOV and typing “Fov 110” in console has no change whether Direct VR mode or not. In other words, the FOV appears to be correct now.

    Thank you for your assistance.

Interesting thing to note here is that returning Vorpx to factory default through the program did not fix this issue but actually reinstalling the program did.

I recently bought VorpX because I’ve seen a lot of videos where people were amazed about using it with GTA V, Skyrim, & Alien Isolation.

Well, I barely got GTA V to work. There’s still a lot of tweaking involved but I’m wondering if it’s even worth it because I am very disappointed. From what I have seen I would not call it virtual reality at all. I would say it’s more like you’re playing a 3D movie with head tracking and the screen stays in front of you.

I get that these games are not native to VR. But I expected better than this because these games are programmed using models/assets/sprites. So why can’t it actually look like you are placed in the space rather than feeling like you are interacting with a 3D video?

Honestly, I hope I am just doing something wrong and someone can point me in the right direction because I am very let down by the experience.

New great mod that just came out:
    Un-Paused Menus

Makes favorites menu, inventory, containers, lockpicking, pickpocketing and any other menu pop up happen in REAL TIME!
A new must have! You can even pick what gets un paused and what doesn’t.

Direct VR automatically sets the FOV to the correct value for your headset. The FOV set by Direct VR is quite close to 110 normally, just a little bit more precise.

If that isn’t the case, the only potential things I can imagine is that either a camera mod changes the FOV or something prevents Direct VR from applying the calculated FOV, for example by a virus scanner. If you use anything alse than Windows Defender, please try to disable your scanner and check whether that helps.

Also make sure that your Skyrim is up-to-date in Steam. The Direct VR FOV for Skyrim is not completely version independent.

So for the purpose of this post I’m specifically talking about Skyrim, but this actually seems to be happening with every game I’ve tried (Skyrim, Jedi Knight 2 and Mount and Blade).

Basically whenever I have Direct VR enabled, the FOV gets very low and makes me nauseous. Just to clarify, I’m using a Skyrim (Original) install with no mods installed at all. Whenever I type “Fov 110” into console with direct VR enabled it will change for a fraction of a second and then change back. Disabling direct VR will show the proper 110 FOV.

So whenever Direct VR is enabled I get about 65 FOV and the instant I disable it, the FOV changes to the proper 110.

Is there something I don’t understand about this situation? I have to admit I kinda feel lost. I’ve of course read your suggestions and tips for FOV but none of that actually seems to do anything. I can change the FOV in game or in the ini but as soon as Direct VR is enabled it will override the proper FOV and make it the lower one.

Any help would be appreciated and thank you for your time.

You can upgrade to an SSD and it will help these loading stutters DRAMATICALLY.

Good tips! I am running a samsung 950pro so hopefully it’s not the hdd speed causing problems :)

I think my other problem is that I’m using the Special Edition… I guess I should try installing the old vanilla skyrim and see if it runs any better. :)
